The most epic loot drop that happened to me was when I was lucky enough to chance upon a Shadowblade while digging through mountians of freshly slaughtered silithid carcasses in Un'Goro. Now, I know it's not the most epic weapon, but let me set up my day for you:After dragging myself through the longest school day in history, I go to my job at the grocery store, where I get one of those old people who just love to see young people screw up so they can give you some lecture about how everyone under 40 is turning the country into an immoral cesspool. In my case, the box of pasta she wanted didn't ring up on the machine and she thought she would set off the theft alarms (which were acctually just for show) and she chewed me out for 10 minutes over it. Eventually I called in my manager (who apparently was also in a bad mood) to take the heat off me. After work he called me into his office and basicly told me to never call on him for stupid problems like that again (and trust me, if the grumpy old lady hadn't held up my register, I wouldn't have). I finally get home, eat and finish my homework then get on WoW to escape from the harsh, stressful real world. After about 30 minutes of questing in Un'Goro (the most boring zone to quest in ever) the Shadowblade dropped. I stared at the purple text in my chat window for a good 5 minutes before it registered that an epic dropped for me...ME!Guild chat was filled with cheers for the rest of the night (much to the irratation of all my guildies). I ended up giving the dagger to my alt, who carried it up 'till level 60's (my karma ran out after that, I didn't get any thing higher then green for the next few months).Anyways, I'm sorry for the textblock rant (but it feels good to get that off my chest).Short version of the monster above: Horrible day, epic drops, walkin' on sunshine for the rest of the night.
Nubless pacifier :P

Mine was when i got the badge of tenacity on the day orgi'la came out and sold it for 4k and was able to buy my epic flying mount
The entire quest to get Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers, http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=18713. No thing in WoW has ever been as rewarding as getting that bow, back when MC was hard, and BWL was for no-lifers.
The most epic loot i've ever gotten was from Onyxia. I attended a lot of raids, but rogue items never dropped for me. So once a Bloodfang Hood dropped, I bet 300dkp on it and won it with more than three times the "runner up" bid. I screamed so loud that I woke up some of my neighbors
On my Night Elf warrior I had always wanted a Human Warhorse mount. This was well before BC and the patch that increased the rep gain from lowbie quests for high level characters. During this time the only way to grind out rep was with cloth turn-ins.Being a Protection warrior for my guild, grinding cloth was no easy thing, coupled with expensive repair bills and no daily quests at the time to generate capital this was a monumental task.I would spend a couple hours every day killing undead at the various farms in Western Plaguelands killing two birds with one stone by grinding runecloth and scourgestones. Finally, after what seemed months, I turned in my last stack of cloth and hit exalted with Stormwind. I promptly ran out to Eastvale Logging Camp and bought my Swift White Steed.I was extraordinarily happy! I pranced around Stormwind on my new mount and galloped all the way to Blackrock Mountain for that night's raid.
For me, the greatest loot moment ever, without a doubt, was getting my Spectral Tiger loot card from a pack of Fires of Outland. On the day the cards were available for sale I went and purchased 6 packs, not hoping for any loot cards, more just wanting to see what was new and open some packs with my friend. I called over fellow WoW buddy Livity, gave him 3 packs, took 3 for myself, and we proceeded to open the packs. Livity and myself had been playing the actual card game for several months at that point and were keen to see what weapons and abilities we would find for use.Livity's second pack had the Spectral Tiger. We yelled. Alot! :-) It was a pretty awsome feeling, and quite unexpected!I got to keep the mount since the cards were mine. I didn't actually get to open the pack, but having that mount is pretty amazing. :-DIf you need something more in-game related, I do have one other moment in WoW that had the same sort of amazing feeling. In the original WoW Friends and Family Alpha, during the tri-horde push, I was fishing in Ashenvale at the southmost part of the beach. I had been fishing for awhile on my orc warrior Zug when I fished up a box containing a Ebon Scimitar! This was, at the time, one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and was also somewhat unique for having an alternate texture. This weapon was the equal in desire to the Jade Serpentblade and I whooped and hollered and in-game had Zug thank the heavens for the precious gift and went off to slay and battle for the rest of that push with the Ebon Scimitar in my hand. It was truly Epic, even if it wasn't purple!Bear!(Edit: Which timezone is the contest in? I'm not sure what day I entered into! Enter me in the last day!)
The most epic loot I've probably ever gotten was Blinkstrike, even if I didn't keep it! I was a few thousand gold short of my epic flyer and doing the mana berries cooking daily in Netherstorm when I had to kill a lynx or two that got in my way. And bam! It dropped. I was thrilled, and even though it took a bit to actually sell, it put a lot towards my flyer fund! I was so proud to be among the first in my little guild to be speeding through the skies.
I got my first epic on my warlock in Feralas, Ring of Saviors. I immediately gloated and shouted in general chat every 2 seconds. Then, being the newb I was, equipped it because of the 14 stam, instead of selling it.
My most epic loot moment was when my best friend bought 6 packs of the Fires of Outland TCG the day they came out,( we were actually playing the game at the time) and gave me 3 packs to open. When i opened the second pack i nearly went into cardiac arrest when I discovered a Spectral Tiger scrach-off loot card gleaming with its holographic art. I soon realized that the card was not mine to use as i did not purchase the packs and I gave the card to its rightful owner. So my most epic loot moment was getting to open a pack containing a Spectral Tiger loot card.If you are looking for something that happend in game, my most epic moment would be winning a random 1-100 roll against 24 other people for the Pitlord's Satchel from Magtheridon. I rolled a 99!
Pulling a Spectral Tiger card from a pack of Fires of Outland, I had a horrible day at work that day, nothing went right. On my way out the door I thought to myself, why not buy a pack of WoW TCG cards. Got out to my car, started thumbing through the cards, there behind the UDE points card was a unscratched Spectral tiger. It made everything that went wrong that day completely better. As much as I really wanted to keep the card and use it, I ended up selling it and getting myself out of some debt. Now I'm hoping for my chance at a War Bear ^_^, and this one is mine if I get one!
