My guild and I spent a long, long time in Karazhan. We were very casual, and never could seem to muster the people needed for the 25-man raids - only towards the end of Burning Crusade did we see any of Zul'Aman at all.In the year or so we ran Kara (with me as an elemental shaman) we never once saw Terrestrian Illhoof drop his Lightning Capacitor. It became the running joke in our guild - I declared myself "Captain Ahab", the capacitor being my white whale. Finally, right around when 2.4 hit (I took a break after 2.4, so to me the time between 2.4 and 3.0 seems pretty short), the capacitor dropped. After about 9 months of running the stupid instance, I got the darn capacitor.About two weeks later one of our healers quit, so I spent the rest of my BC raiding career as resto.C'est la vie.
The most epic loot drop would definitely have to be finally getting Gruul's shield to drop. It took forever, and when it finally did, I was so ecstatic.
Another great epic drop was the first I ever saw. I started playing as a rogue because my brother-in-law was playing and got me into the game. He and I were leveling together in Silithus. He finally decided to log off and I continued questing. About 2 minutes after he logged off Myrmidon's Signet dropped off of a random mob and I about lost it. He was so mad when I told him the next day.
The most epic drop I've ever gotten was the firefly pet. I spent weeks trying to get one, so when it finally dropped I was ecstatic!
I cant win anything in naxx cause I keep losing rolls :(
This is a story from during TBC. I enjoyed tanking and my guild was lacking a reliable full time tank. I did some research (using Wowhead. go figure.) then i came across a weapon that i thought was the best tank weapon I'd ever seen; The Sun Eater! I told my guildies that i had to attain it. Other friends of mine told me to wait for the King's Defender in Karazhan but i shrugged them off. The King's Defender looked like it was better used as a back scratcher or something to beat a child with. Sun Eater had the 2 most important things about an epic weapon.1) It was an effective weapon2) It looked awesomeGot a group together for heroic Mechanar. One of the other tanks I knew was tagging along, with the same hope of getting it. We burned through that place in less than an hour and a half. Who needs CC when everything's dead? We get the last boss down and low and behold, there on my monitor it said "Sun Eater!" ME and the other tank made our need rolls. I knew he had his eyes glued to his screen as much as I did. He rolled a 73. I stared at my roll.....86! YES! I got it. It was in fact, my first PVE epic piece. I rolled with it till WotlK came out. It sadened me to half to give it up for a better piece. But I wasn't about to give it up. Now it sits, in my bank, as a trophy for me to remember till the servers go down for good.
