I have made many great and lasting friendships on World of Warcraft over the years! I haven't ever been able to meet any of them in real life..but have spent many fun evenings on Vent or Mumble joking and enjoying each other company...even toasting a few drinks! (ok maybe more than a few!)I really would love to meet some of them in real life...an maybe how to get back into contact with a few that have left WoW for one reason or another. Some of them really do live further away than I could hope to afford the trip! Here's to Friends!*Cheers*
Met one of my best friends when looking for a guild during Dragon Soul. My guild had broken up, so I posted on the WoW forums. Didn't get any replies on the topic, but got one very eager in game mail. It was all caps and signed by 'Kissthebaby'. I thought that was a quite odd name and nearly dismissed it entirely thinking it was a joke, until he logged on and convinced me to join him. I reluctantly agreed, and I've never looked back. We've server transferred and faction changed a couple times together since then. I even went clear across the United States to meet him in person! And we're still the best of friends today.
Boy oh boy, have I been granted some friends in this game. At first i was playing with my brother, just learning the game. After some time, my friends joined and left and then came back again as you always do with this game. But I meet some people, randomly in a dungeon, who I now play not only WoW with, but all kinds of games. Not only by random chance have I found friends, but in guilds as well. While big guilds gets you geared, small guilds gets you friends. The fact that friendship can be made in this game is one of the reasons i can't stop playing it. Sadly are very few within the borders of my own countries, so face to face greetings might not be an option, but great times are still created in this wonderful game.
Some of my best friends are my guild mates. And I met my boyfriend (going on 5 years) playing WoW. I've met several of them in real life and hope to meet many more!
met my soulmate 7 years ago in this game :)
I met my daughter's father in Storm Peaks :P We ended up living together for over 3 years, but it didn't work out. I got my beautiful little girl out of it though. :) One of my good friends I have known since Wotlk. We got to meet in person once a few years ago, but we live very far away :(
i met someone through flex raiding that lives pretty close since my sever was dying cause of reg 10 man raiding she agreed to put me on a raid team provided i move to her server i did and im loving it
one the best friends in my life came out this game. more so than friends i have known for20-30yrs.
I do agree that it would be fun to discuss raid tactics or what score you got on your BG with your guild leader for example, but the only problem is that those people could be paedophiles and do not forget that kids play this game so it would be a little dangerous. Apart from that I think it a really good idea and I would absolutely use all the time to discuss how to beat Rasorgor the Untamed( still cant do that fight) :D
I didn't meet the love of my life through WoW. I actually met her out in the real world, and it turns out she played WoW! She changed my life. I no longer slay dragons, I kill people. We met in Season 8, and have been going strong since.
i met one of my closest friends on wow around 2006, we were both in high school, we met in my first guild i ever joined. We now play almost every game we get together and speak to each other everyday on Skype. he is one of the greatest friends in my life right now probably better in most that have passed through. For the last month we actually been planning on meeting up finally and we are meeting next weekend!
I met some awesome people through various guilds. Even though said guilds have fallen apart, we are all still friends. If we are all online, the alliance better watch out, is all I gotta say. We like to do stupid stuff, like visit the moonguard goldshire, the ally shrine, and just act silly in town. These guys make the game so fun, couldn't imagine the game without them now!
I have met many great friends through playing WoW. A few in particular I originally met when Cata first came out and first started playing, we have stayed in touch and I've been very blessed to be a part of them turning their lives around completely. They have also been wonderfully supportive of me through a really rough time in my life right now. They have given me much comfort when I felt like I could find none.I've also learned a lot about people and honesty, or lack thereof through this game. It's pretty crazy because some folks are exactly who they are online and offline, others not so much. The former have turned into meaningful, lasting friendships... the latter ending abruptly when their true colors show. It takes all kinds I guess:)

I feel like the act of catfishing shouldn't be glorified so I'm not sure how I feel about Wowhead pushing this. Pretty sure MTV has no interest in painting up us "WoW nerds" in a positive light so I'd caution anyone who thinks apping to that show is a good idea. I applied to be on one of those MTV "reality" programs back in 2003ish and they wanted me to lie about all sorts of things to be in their crappy dating show.Honestly, it's 2014. Meeting people from the internet shouldn't still be seen as alien enough to warrant this kind of bad television. I have met up with countless people from online. I've dated an old FFXI raider that I worked alongside. Some of my best friends in the world are from WoW. I met up with some of my guildmates for the first time two months ago while on a road trip.People from the internet are just people. Things like MTV need to stop perpetuating the notion that everyone online is a liar.
Already had several friends in WoW, but one in particular is very important to me because it was a friend who had some physical limitations, but even so our friendship was so great that did not stop our fun and I think today this is the best friends I have in the game. Honestly it is very hard to find a true friendship in online games, especially when it comes to World of Warcraft, because it is such a competitive game, but still, at times, find people who change our way of thinking.
I met my GF about 1 and a half year ago killing goblins in booty bay an ever since have been in an abusive reationhip wih her, Girls can be so mean'*'_'*'.So lets hope i win if not she will most likely punish me.
I have 3 faithful friend since vanilla, they occasionally play WoW nowadays tho. One of them knows her husband from WoW too, I even went to their wedding too. :) But recently, few months ago got two great friend and made a new guild with them too. Looks like we will have long friendship. Also my current love is from online too :)
During vanilla I was raid organizer for my guild. The guild leader is a real life friend, and I had some raiding experience, so he asked me to help. After about a year of leading, I took a week off work, and drove around the eastern US, meeting guildies. I live in MI, so Friday after I left work, drove to Pittsburgh, met 3 guildies (husband, wife and her brother), then Saturday drove to NYC, where I met 3 more for dinner (along with 2 of their girlfriends (one now wife)). In the wee hours of Sunday morning, drove from NYC to Maryland, where I spent a couple days with another guildie, his wife, and their dog. While there, we visited another member, and 4 more all came over for a LAN party Sunday night (for the raid :) ). Monday, I drove to Florida, to meet my girlfriend (whom I met through WoW) for the first time in real life (didn't work out :( ). Friday, I drove back through Atlanta, and met up with 2 guildies, and 3 more WoW friends. 8 years later, I'm still in regular contact with 2 of the NYers, the couple I stayed with in Maryland, and all the Atlanta crowd, and infrequent contact with the Pittsburghers and the other NYer. All told, I've met more than 30 WoW friends irl, and turned almost half into real world friends. I've had relationships, gotten jobs, had adventures, attended weddings, and discovered I have a bed (or couch) in any of a dozen places across the country whenever I take a visit. This spring has another NY trip planned to meet another couple of WoW friends, a trip to Atlanta to see the friends there, and this summer (I hope) to Canada to meet one of my first WoW friends, who has since left the game, but I still chat with through FB.
