Honestly, I don't even care about the story anymore. Everything is nebulous and relative and vague because Blizzard can't commit to anything and will retcon or ignore whatever doesn't fit the current narrative they're trying to tell. It's been that way ever since Tides of War when everyone was acting like Jaina and Theramore were neutral when they weren't, and were in fact perfectly legitimate military targets. Everything's so anime, about a group of major characters with no regard for armies or countries the way the story used to be. Lor'themar, Baine, etc. are sad that they didn't get to print and sign as many cookie cutter condolence letters because of Garrosh's brilliant plan to kill a ton of Alliance in one blast with zero Horde casualties. Blizzard ignored Theramore helping the Alliance ever since Vanilla because they wanted to paint Garrosh as a villain. If you ask me, it should all be rebooted from the end of Vanilla onwards.Everything is about perspectives. There is no good or evil, everything is relative, everything you think you know about the story is just the inherent bias of the one telling it, and the Light is just another malevolent force trying to take you over, and necromancy isn't evil, they're perfectly nice guys. I do not want to meet the Fel Lords and have them be like "oh, hey there, adventurer, how are you?" Such BS. People have been subverting expectations by making the good thing evil or neutral at best for the past 20 years. It might've been a surprise 20 years ago, but now it's expected.
Beings of her origin (refering to Elune)... It pretty much confirms my theory on Elune being the polar opposite to Zovaal (as if the Jailer was Death itself, later replaced by the Arbiter)
The funny thing is, I suspect the reason chronicles got retconned into point of view is probably because of behind the scenes stuff. One dev really liked what they wrote, later quit, then the next came in and retconned it to create their own vision. It’s a fairly uncooperative way to make lore.
Note how 'Order' looks suspiciously like the main floor plan of Oribos...
The twin ouroborus's of life and death chasing each is a really awesome imagery of the cycle. The only thing that looks different is that Life and Death are flipped between the two. Which also puts the shadowlands closer to life than death in the chart.
Bets on how long before none of this lore is accurate anymore? I've got money on 1-1.5 years.
this "perspective" thing feels like a cheap cop-out on why their recently released lore compendiums are no longer canon - but that you should totally still buy those outdated books.I have no doubt that now with this book they're doing the unreliable narrator thing, but I highly doubt that was the intention for the first book or 2 of chronicle.
The seven blind men and the pile of poo
So these books are just the perspective of the cosmic forces from there own views. There is no change in them at all because there are still the same main forces. They talk about a seventh and i think that it is Azeroth. I say that because every cosmic force in the universe is connected to our world in some way and each of these cosmic forces have gone extra lengths to protect/kill her. Im gonna say Azeroth is something entirely different than a typical Titan mainly because the Titans say they where "planets or world-souls" which could just be speculation because who really knows who created them? Maybe Azeroth was created long before the other world-souls or something entirely different. Maybe Azeroth is a First One hiding in our planet and is why Sargeras wanted Azeroth dead and why the Titans implanted so many systems to "originate" the planet and why the void sent so many old gods after it and why the Jailer wants it. It seems that all of these forces can be broken down to a center and its always Azeroth. Order, Life, Light - these 3 protect Azeroth. Death, Disorder, Void - these 3 want to kill Azeroth. Well we stopped the Legion, defeated the Old Gods, and once we deal with the Jailer who is left? It will be interesting to see what happens when there are only 3 cosmic forces without a way to balance them.
