Christ, a lot of people don't know the definition of 'retcon'
All the old lore we had before Chronicle was also contextualized as being from an in-universe perspective, written by various authors, or more commonly, specifically Brann Bronzebeard.99.9% of Chronicle also still holds true, the only real change is that there's a bit more complexity to the origin of the cosmos than Chronicle indicated, and that the perspective of the denizens of the Shadowlands arrange their Cosmology chart slightly differently.
And then Blizzard had each cosmic force release their own Chronicles, the Void Lords go last and actually tell the truth. But at the end of each truth is some odd little bit about painting miniatures. Turns out the book is written by N'zoth who is still alive and following his true passion. Collecting and painting miniature figurines. Whole lot of anime-esque figurines, and for some reason a body pillow of Hogger.
Awesome article, thanks a lot for sharing and compiling all related information. Also must be noted: This is NOT a "retcon", nothing is re-written or nothing is scrapped.Chronicle was from a more narrow and mostly physical-realm hence Titan perspective. This is from a Broker perspective, it does not mean it's the ultimate truth of all Warcraft Lore, it just means it is one part of it, from another angle.
Simpnuser needs to retcon everything to fit this trash narrative about sylvanas waifu
It's too bad this version will pretty much be irrelevant after Shadowlands ends; as nothing we do in Shadowlands realy matter; everyone in there is dead; and we will leave and never see them again; that is what restoring balance is.
It makes sense that the Brokers would have a different perspective of the cosmological order/hierarchy than those on Azeroth. But I don't love that Chronicles was peddled as the definitive WoW Lore book until Blizz decided they needed to retcon themselves. Makes me hesitant to buy lore books if what's contained within will be negated in a few years.
