I met quite some ppl in WoW, some even IRL. Last year a friend from guild visited me - 3000km journey is something I guess. Guys from the guild also did every year a guild BBQ, where ppl from other countries came and meet each other. It was a shame that the guild splitted in two, but still those last 2-3 years were awesome. :)
Me and my (now) wife started playing WoW 8 years ago. I had been picking on a paladin in Warsong Gulch for a few weeks and my wife was questing with a warrior. We soon learned that these two were in fact a couple in real life. We managed to get the paladin to create a horde character and we started questing together as a four. We made many more friends and eventually started our own guild. We would Skype with the other couple we had met and email/talk outside of WoW. One day we decided to travel down to London to meet up with them. We all hit it off and would visit every few months, staying for a few days at a time, sometimes even a week. We became best friends. We also made characters on a new server and set up yet another guild. We had a big guild meet up in London and all got on great. Eventually this couple broke up for their own reasons however we are still friends with the paladin. She came to our wedding after a 12 hour flight from South Africa where she had currently been travelling. My wife and her fell pregnant around the same time and there are only 4 months between our daughters. Its harder now to see each other as often but we do stay in touch. We made a fantastic friendship from WoW and have some brilliant memories of the friends we have made.
I was lucky enough during vanilla and BC to actually have a meet up of our large guild in Austin, TX. I met folks I had spoken to for years via TS or Vent and now seeing them in the flesh really had an amazing impact. While I personally did not met a significant other, we actually had three couple in our guild consummate to marriage and several folks actually we invited to the wedding. The main founders of the original guild are still around and I still chat with them once in a while, but the memories of meeting people on line and then in RL really changed my perspective on on-line gaming as a form of social interaction drastically.
Well, I met this one guy in my guild a few years ago. We got along well since we saw eye to eye on a lot of things and we discussed even more, such as capital punishment and the pollution the environment. We both had lots of fun, and we took this to another level. We actually made alts just to explore and have fun instead of leveling. We explored the entire map of Azeroth, and we loved our experiences. That time was one of the best during my time in WoW, but as all good things must come to an end, it didn't last forever. He ended his WoW subscription about a year or two afterwards, but I'll forget neither him nor all the fun we had together! (^v^) I miss you, Tanter!
Seems like a good idea.
I met a good number of friends on wow - some live about 30 mins away from me. Now I go over and visit regularly. Some of my guild plan to go on holiday together too. Maybe i'll tag along...
i met a extremely good friend through wow and shes one of the reasons i still play.I used to play my brothers account whilst he was working and i got talking to a priest on Azjol we later added each other on Facebook and Real ID when i got my own account and now we keep in contact every day via text and phone calls. although i haven't yet met her in person (she lives in Croatia) she is an amazing friend and will be attending my wedding later in the year XD
I met one in my guild who introduced me to some of her friends, and now i'm doing a lot of pvp and raiding with them :-.D
I met a ton of cool people when I was on a PVP realm, way back in vanilla. Now that I'm more of a casual player & with LFR I don't really get to know the people in groups or guild.
I've met quite a few friends on WoW. It's great that even though I'm disabled and don't have a car so can't get out much, I can still have a social life. Interesting that the newest female friend wants me to talk dirty to her.
I met one person from WoW, went up to Myrtle Beach to hang out and its quite different when you meet them. Also my GM met his wife in the guild and then they got married and still are after 5 years. So there is still great opportunities to meet people throughout WoW.
I meet an old classmate by accident during a AV match, he still used his name he used when we were playing Counter-Strike back in the days (99-02) and then he moved to another city, and as soon as i saw him, i said his name in BG-chat, and he didnt believe it, like whats the odds that you come across a old friend of your after all these years.- I have also meet my now IRL friends via Dungeon Tool. We teamed up time to time, and one night the other guy said 'damn its cold today' and i was like 'ye really..' 'where do you live?' and we found out that we were from same town, had went to same school for several years. The world is small, you can meet so much good friends throughout WoW. I love to hear other lovley stories from you guys, i'll always get amazed by the awesome stories, maybe someone found their love of their life?

When I first started playing WOW I totally tricked my guild into thinking I was the 80's pop singer Martika. Seriously, they bought it hook, line and sinker. Of course I eventually came clean and we all had a good laugh about it. :)
Recently I made a friend in my guild from a friend and I racing to have the most achievements in our guild. Then a third person joined in and as of now she is in the lead!
WOW has made me some good friends over the years. Some I still talk to, some I've unfortunately lost contact with; in some instances because of guilds rising and falling, they changed realms or factions, or they don't play anymore. I've gotten to meet two women that my best friend Chad met on WOW and introduced them to me on game and then in RL. One we all pretty much forgot, cause she was lame, and the other he ultimately is with now is awesome. He even moved to be with her a couple of years ago. Thankfully we all still play so the game is helping me keep in touch with both of them. My Bro's girlfriend is funny, and a great player, and I'm glad I got to meet her on game and in RL.WOW is also a great way for people who know each other in RL to keep in touch especially if you don't get to see them much because of work, family, and in some cases they have moved. I can't to meet more people, and think I will as long as WOW is still around. >^,,^<
My wife actually introduced me to the game and we play online all the time. As far as someone I've met on there whom I'd like to meet IRL, I'm going to say my guild master. I'd say that guy is my best friend who I haven't met in person.
Looking forward to having my beautiful GM visit this spring:P
Two years ago some guild mates of ours came up to visit us, while here he proposed to her. Last year my husband and I attended their wedding. Every evening we skype each other, and just chat while we play.
Years ago when I started playing wow, my life was on a different track than it is now. I met someone on wow, fell in love, and moved to a different state to live with them. The people that were just my guildies are now my irl friends as well. One of our friends lives a few states away, and he flew to meet us a couple years ago. We've since met up a couple more times and remain good friends in and out of game. A lot of the closest people in my life today are people that I first knew as characters in wow.
