Yeah, not too surprised honestly. Cataclysm was a fail. Not that it was really bad, but the other expansions were just a whole lot better.* =/*My opinion.
And 10 million is now the new plateau for all MMO's; until they hit that point, they can't really say they are a success; Warcraft sure set the bar high for everyone else.
The edge of my seat is getting worn out here... More more more ! :0)
I really liked more Burning Crusade :(
and they'll lose more. They surely deserve it.
Weren't 700-800k of those in china?
So world of warcraft has now 10.2 million of users?
Haters gonna hate
And interestingly, not bad at all... considering this was also the quarter that SW:TOR was supposed to "kill" WoW.Didn't even scratch it.
1st : Illidan The Betrayer, Archimonde, Kil' Jaeden2nd: The Lich King3rd: Ragnaros, Deathwing4th: PANDAS?... we'll lose more.
It's no shocker. WoW was revolutionary when it came out, but they haven't really changed a ton. It's been mostly new content and quality-of-life improvements, but they have themselves a situation. 10 million subscribers who seem to be satisfied with how things are, and a potential audience that apparently isn't. Mists is Blizzard's shot to step beyond the formula they built their success on. If they do, anything could happen; if not, they'll stabilize, slowly descend as people grow older and change their priorities, and eventually go free-to-play to keep populations up enough to support the most profitable subscribers.
I have enjoyed my game play experience over the past 5 years. It's the only 'game' i play. I have friends who have moved to skyrim, and other mmo's that are free online, but after viewing them in action, I just don't see it for me.I do have my issues with WoW, mostly in the rewards you get from at level questing.. and another with this soulbound/BOP and cannot sell at auction or disenchant. I can see where room for improvement is and have voiced my issues during beta testing.I hear from people that they have 'done everything', however, I cannot personally believe that... there is sooo much to do, from quests, raids, battlegrounds, and pvp.. the cap IMHO cannot be reached for doing everything.. even going back to find lower level quests that were unfulfilled when running through the first time. so, no honor, but, following the flow can be just as fun... and there is always helping out a beginner, starting a new toon and whole new route of build.. always something new.I can't wait and looking forward to the new Monk skillset.~Ed Gruberman
I will say that to date Wrath of The Lich King has been the one expansion World of Warcraft' done that I absolutely loved. I came into playing just prior to the Burning Crusade expansion, and well when Cataclysm was released, I have yet to feel impressed with it. And with Mists of Panderia set to come at us, I'm not really sure a panda is going to do it to keep me playing if my interest continues to decline. I'm hoping a 6th expansion may take into account why alot of people have left and worked on the issues that after so long, the same thing over and over again becomes stale. Even with added new quests, something's still missing.
TOR subscriptions will not grow from where they are, I firmly believe that.
gotta agree cata was not too fun. what my friends told me is only cgood part about it is doing the new quests in the classic lore to catch up on lore of whats going on. new class for races and transmogging. the new zones were okay not too bad but lore on certain areas were bumpy a bit that sometimes it didnt make sense or you guys leave out lore. for example like the archbishop in hour of twilight. how the hell did he turn evil in the first place cause for the past 3 and a half years of playing wow i did not see any hints of him being corrupted. plus the final cinematic for dragon soul. that didnt make sense at all that the aspects main purpose was to kill deathwing. well least MoP will be good because of new lands, lore, characters, secrets, race and class. MoP lore is new to us because if you been playing warcraft 3 you already know a bit of northend and outlands, but for pandaria when its lore we are going in blind know the story of the expansion.
