I'm beginning to think that I must be somewhat unusual to not only find this system fun, but a lot more fun than the other extremely barebones (Necrolord), passive (Night Fae), or hard time-gated (Venthyr) systems the other covenants have. PoA is much more involved-- hell, that you can actually fail at all instead of sleepwalking through some gardening or blithely doing weekly quests is a hell of a lot more interesting to me. It's an actual system, instead of some minor chores that you sink a ton of anima into in order to get.
I managed to clean the first 3 tiers. But I gave up on humility, simply not fun or enjoyable.Though I had gotten so many medallions that I could buy materials crates for them in bulk and still have 100+ left over. At least I got all the mounts from them. I have zero interest in going back. And i find it annoying having to reserve 4 slots in my bags for the materials. Though its nothing compared to the huge amount of stuff dropping for nightfae. So far Venthyr and Necrolords seems to only have two dropped items to worry about
Forgot to mention Bron is bugged, he does not start the fight with energy making him a very tough soulbind to use becuase you need the charm that lets your soulbind gain resource slowly and have him start the fight on regen mode - no ablitites.
With PoA it isn't just getting those achievements to open an item, that item still COSTS you either mana or 250 Pet Charms! So you farm to get in, you farm to try to win you have to farm to get the reward after you unlock it. What pushed me over the edge was the night after I opened a new pet & bought it with 250 Pet Charms. You see, my ally main is Kyrian, my horde is Venthyr. I worked on PoA as the story progressed, Court I waited at least a month b4 I started it mainly because PoA was horribly un-fun. Anyway, after all my work to get my cute little pet the night before, my Venthyr finshed up her Ember Court for the week, opened her chest from Kleia & Pelagos & got the same dang pet - FOR FREE! WTH!
I would be fine with over tuned difficult fights if you didn't have to re-farm mats and medals.Remove that garbage and I could sit and make many attempts at something. The admittance to mage tower was very low and plentiful (and first run was free). There was no requirement to get into the green fire challenge....Tried once, very not fun. Would not go again
compared to the Night Fae covenant game Queen's Conservatory, Kyrian's Path of Ascension is pain! I dont understand why NF is so easy, Necro is easy and Kyrian/Venth are so bad.
I never really had an issue with the medallions beyond the first few runs, because it takes far longer to get the anima for future boss unlocks than medallions to attempt them. I'm currently sitting at 54 of them, while grinding out the 12,500 anima for level 4. Since 5 of them gets you a ton of materials, that grind has also disappeared for me. 4 medallion missions frequently pop up, and if you've got level 1 Transport Network + Anima Conductor, you can get 1 per day very easily just by teleporting to Temple of Purity, doing that treasure, and teleporting back.
the path is amazing but tbh its difficulty can be prohibitive. i hit a wall at the hardest difficulty. i stopped doing it and never went back even though i want to. i figure if enough people had a hard time like i did, maybe they will nerf it in the future and i can go back and finish it. between bugs and difficulty and nerfing the cheese, a bad taste was left in my mouth.
I unlocked it to rank 4 and got all the mounts, but then didn't do anything else cause the rest of the rewards are trash. I didn't find those ranks particularly difficult at all, but I can see why Humility would be frustrating. They definitely need to fix the bugs and tuning.
Hate it - haven't wasted my time since
Mixed feelings really. On one side I have this morbid smug feeling of getting Disciple of Humility relatively early on in patch 9.0.5 and flaunting the black set. On the other hand I feel deep pity for all those who started later than me and have a harder time getting it then I did even though I fully expected it to become easier due to next 40 renown levels which were supposed to make it easier.I shall proudly wear my black plate armor in public while thinking of all you miserable Kyrians... and I will shed a small tear.
I completed every path achievements several months ago, sure some of them were really hard but I had lots of fun nevertheless !One or two bosses on the hardest difficulty with Kleia could be tunned better, sure, but the system doesn't need much changes at all really.GL to everyone still trying to complete the path !
Appreciate the writeup and drawing attention to this. Hopefully it gets some dev love in 9.1.5...I think they should nerf it significantly which hopefully is easy enough to do. I've completed much of it but even the parts I've done already, I wouldn't wish that frustration on anyone else. PoA should be a fun diversion like the other three cov activities, not an extreme test of skill in buggy, overtuned vehicle fights.
Compared to how fun and easy the additional content looks like for Night Fae, the Kyrian Path is a huge disappointment.I had to spend a lot of time and energy to make the Master of the Path, but the Disciple of Humility ate up all my resources, time and nerves.I decided to abandon this business today and came across this article.I still have to kill Echthra, Craven Corinth, Splinterbark Nightmare, Thran'tiok, Mad Mortimer, Athanos, Azaruux with Mikanikos; Craven Corinth, Thran'tiok, Mad Mortimer with Kleia.Wiped like 20 times on Craven Corinth/Kleia today :CI wish all of them to be as difficult as Alderyn and Myn'ir or Nuuminuuru to make it possible to complete for casuals like me (who completing 20+ keys and mythic raids), but seems I'm to tired for this tryhard.
I don't think this write up is completely fair. Running out of currency for attempts is inconvenient. But that's all it is, inconvenient. A system without any cost also works but it really doesn't make a difference either way. Acting like it's somehow the iceburg "Very Harsh Penalty for Failure " that sunk the TItanic is kinda dramatic. You ran out of currency and have to put a hold on the attempts for a while. kk. Come back another time after a break. If you are burning through hundreds of tokens through attempts anyway you could probably use a good rest before the next go at it. The intro questline to the system wasn't user unfriendly. It was straightforward and a simple step by step guide to how it works.
