Personally, I've done up to and including half of the trial of humility fights, however I'm a sucker for grinds and have done way worse ones than this. However, the amount of effort required, only to unlock some reskinned mounts that are way more easily accessible with other covenants, and a dye change on some terrible looking armor, has to be some sort of peak unrewarding time investment. Also I did it as soon as it was available, which came with further issues, such as unlocking both kleia and mikanos before i had been properly introduced to them in the story. Only positive thing about this, was gliders selling for 30k initially, and the unlocks you get on your little follower dude, quite handy stuff.Best recommendation I can give is to unlock the place up to the point where you get medallions for various content, then forget about it till prepatch for next xpac, and buy your way to victory without any of the absolutely trash farming they try to make you do
Also make credit for the achievements account wide - as in once we earn them on one character we can buy the mogs on alts, please. Rather than have to take four characters through the entire thing just to buy them, especially when it's this hard.Make it so we have to beat all the fights to buy the mogs on alts after getting the achievements on a main if you have to but we shouldn't have to do the hardest achievement multiple times.
I managed to complete Disciple of Humility during 9.1 and man was that tough. I don't think the medallions or the crafting mats are that big of a deal though since the medallions are super easy to get and you can trade medallions for crafting mats. I used about 200 medallions (including trading them for crafting mats) to complete all difficulties and all the achievements required to get the xmogs and mounts. Overall I think the system is fun and how challenging it is makes it fun, however it's a bit silly you have to use exploits in order to complete a couple of the fights. Definitely wish they'd spend a bit more time tuning stuff like this.
This article is on spot, thank you for this. I only hope Blizzard does something about all of this in 9.1.5. At the very least, they should fix the not working strength increase for the soulbinds with growing renown. But even so, I'm absolutely at a loss about what they were thinking. The Night Fae garden requires no skill or even effort whatsoever. The Maldraxxi just do some weekly quest for their lovely little abominations to get all their stuff (the world quest lottery with Unity is questionable, though). The Ember Court is most fun of all and this is what a "covenant feature" should be, in my opionion: Something very different, small at first, but getting bigger and better, more entertaining even, along with a definitive learning curve and really satisfactory results after a while. But the Path of Ascension? It's like the bad twin of Legion Mage Tower, without the fun of playing my own class and without possibility of getting better equipment. There's no development, nothing you can do to make it easier in time. And why the heck does this even need to be so hard it can't be beaten without bug using? I'm really wondering if anyone at Blizzard tested this, on humility. At all.
Dab is carrying disciple of humility. Out of experience, the only way to get this achievement is with extreme dedication or Dab's guides (and dedication). I can't thank him enough for making this challenge achievable.
I haven't done the trials of humility so far - I've done all achievements needed for mounts and stopped there. I found Path of Ascension pretty fun! I think the hassle of the entry tokens and the small, one-off quests is being overstated though. You get sooo many entry tokens from activities, and the trials from the first 3 tiers of the building are very easily doable and enjoyable. It does sound like the humility trials need a nerf - but outside of that... I think this post really overstates the difficulty and hassle of the path imo.
9.1 introduced a lot of new bugs. Every enemy is now named "Polemarch Kalisthene" to me, this doesn't really affect anything but it's pretty dumb.Prior to 9.1, using charms you could generate resources before attacking the enemies and starting the timer, so you could open with Pelagos' ultimate ability for example. They nerfed this, but it also had the unintended consequence of making Bronn start with zero energy, gimping him further than ever.I was just talking to someone yesterday about what a buggy mess this system is, and how some bosses don't seem possible without bugging out the encounter. It definitely needs some help.
Didn't even know you could wear more than one charm at once
I have tried, repeatedly, to even win the very first fight. And I just can't do it. First of all it took me way too long to figure out I had to be running Pelagos in order to take the single piece if crafted gear I could make! I'd talk to the gear manager character and they'd say something like "This is for the fighters," and... YES I know it's for my fighters how do I freaking equip it?All I want is the dark wings transmog, but whatever. I am giving up on that feature. I find it frustrating and whatever style of play it is, I don't like. The idea that I have to not only learn the tactics of each boss, but I also have to learn to drive each vehicle... I mean, blue angel npc - and then gather, craft and properly distribute gear... no. Not Fun. Pity about the wings.
*sobs in Ember Court*
Considering how easy it is for over covenants (like Night Fae) to get theirs in comparison to the amount of difficulty it is to do Path of Ascension ...Blizz needs to fix that..ASAP.
As someone who is looking at the prospect of doing this two times at least I really want those achievements to be account wide. If I unlock the ability to get purchase the Forsworn Plate transmog, I better be able to buy the Forsworn Mail transmog on my alt.
Agree devs are not Kyrian. PoA feels totally abandoned
i am a big bastion fan. i have all my chars here since start but the path of ascension system is the greatest fail in shadowlands!i start the first fight, give up and never touch this bs again. please blizzard rework this!
Ember Court is easy! It's a little tedious at 1st when you don't have all the guests discovered and all the options unlocked, but once you do, it's pretty simple. I think the scoring is a little strict, some things seem unable to get the perfect score unless you get the perfect random events, but it is fun. Path has just been a punch in the gut.
Path of Exile system, lol, wrong game dude :P
The difficulty is just out of whack compred to the other covenant features.
