So in terms of experience they actually smoothed out progress. While this completely disregards monster health/damage or instance size, I do appreciate the refined experience formula. Sure, it feels slower, but at least they removed those outdated experience jumps and it's now more consistent. It still needs improvements (I'd go with a higher experience boost from heirlooms), though.
For me the leveling total time is fine. It doesn't feel way too long compared to old system (no raf or pots) but what they did change is the difficulty, now you can't do crazy pulls in dungeons, you may actually wipe if you do a bad pull or if you pull a boss & a trash pack, specially in vanilla dungeons. Making leveling not faceroll is fine for me but I guess some players miss the semi-afk dungeon leveling. If you don't wipe at all, dungeons are not longer than they used to be, that's why all my allied races are healers, no exception. Wiping is punishing now...
luckily i already have all classes at 110, only reason to lv would be the new races which really don't peak my interest. Also the new lving sucks, takes way to long. The only good content is at max lv. and they just want to drag it out as long as possible.
I have another issue with leveling - not quite sure if it is just my fault.I leveled my alt from 1-41 - and i really enjoyed that i could finish a zone. My char has full heirloom gear and the blue stuff from the the random Dungeon bag.1-40 - it took 3-6 Skills to kill a Mob41 - it took more than 20 - 25 Skills to kill a mob.As you can Imagine - i just gave up since it took me a about a Minute per single mob.Does anybody else have a similar Problem or is it just me?
Before Legion I could level a toon in full hierlooms from 1-100 in about 4-5 days of solid playing pulling 4+ mobs at a time, after legion the same process doing the same quests and zones takes about 2-3 weeks being only able to kill stuff one at a time due to there increased health scaling, the exp needed between levels 14% lower the overall time investment 300% longer, Its like running a race, sure you can go faster then the others but your track is 3 times as long so you all cross together anyway. bottom line it dont matter how many levels you gain from A to B if it still takes longer, after 10 years or more playing making a new toon has become a tedious chore just to get to play. This makes the new races less fun since you have to level copy and paste versions of the old ones whose slight changes could have been added to the old ones via the barber shop rather then making them there own playable race, and different racial abilities that are barely useful at all with the exception of the mole machine for dark irons to get around faster.
Literally just trying to sell boosts the article.
I want heirlooms to get a buff as much as anyone, by can we stop saying "make heirlooms great again", please? There's a BfA gem that gives +5% exp. I'd love heirlooms to get upgraded to have one socket per durability piece, or at least three pieces.
Blizzard will realize its not fine too late. They treat community feedback as whining. Until the sub loss hits them, they'll continue nerfing leveling.
Overall.I liked how people complained(whine) before about leveling beeing so fast that you couldnt do all the questes in a specific area or dungeons most of the times beeing done fast by 2 heirloomers and the rest wont understand anything from it, then again imagine that dungeon beeing done 10 times in a row at a very slow rate before was boring and it was fast now its like doing tw dungeons for 5 times where aome feel like doing kharazan mythic before it got split in 2 sections (newby wouldnt like that because it would be to fast and its understandable but vetereans after years of wow would find it boring and slow since they want max level rarely you have that feeling to go first time experience and level slow and hard doing everytging). But now here we are and people are whining(complaining) that this is a ridiculous slow boring way to level especially when it is the 15 th character to do so. But this is just a market move to make you be more subscription active or use other services.Lets say all the above is ok but then we have the surprise of killing the most easiest fastest way one cann level and that is RAF may it rest in peace. Atm the only use of it is for mounts cuz returning players are good without it also because you dont want the new player to go to fast on the end content. Raf was the cheapest and fastest way to level up and blizz realized that so here we are. Also heirlooms bow its just something to increase your xp earning and be a gear that you wont change it every level. Now for the good part and second move on the marketing business is that we have a solution for the problems abovr and a way to get a bit faster to the end content, and that is Level Boost. So yeah nice marketing move especially when you have all those tokens and gold flow with bots and ah etc etc etc.I hope someone will actually read this.^^ The end!
Levelling really is fine, if anything it's going way too fast. I quite enjoy revisiting the old zones, but on my latest character I got to 66 after only Hellfire Peninsula, such a shame.
Leveling takes a while yes, that makes sense with this many expansions out. The only thing that bothers me, is that level 60-80 is still a horrible slow grind. The other levels and expansions are absolutely fine and something I even enjoy. But Outland and Northrend are a leveling nightmare to me.
I still feel that a out-of-the-box solution would be enabling flying since level one. The time cut short on avoiding trash and terrain going -to- the quest and -returning- to the quest giver (often times multiples) would speed things up. Things really liven up at 60 with it and then explode at 70 and there is no XP bonus attached to it.
Leveling is a huge slog of time wasting and you can only efficiently use solo questing since they removed any other option to level with. What a steaming pile of garbage.
Leveling is easy and fast. If you know how to maximize your experience gain. Before 7.3.5 the way to maximize experience was to just dungeon spam. Even if you we're dps, weaving them into your questing to break up the grind. Now its a little different but still similar. Two weeks ago I made a void elf rogue. In a week I was level 60. Now a week later that I'm at level 100. What's the secret fast experience gain now? you ask. Battlegrounds and weaving in appropriate level questing. Yes PvP and quests. I would average 1 level about every 1-2 bgs, Win or lose. The que time is average 3-5 mins for alliance. After 100 the bonus exp from leveling gear, you can grind out Draenor then Legion quest lines. The bonus "world" quests, while leveling expedite the process after that, No experience drop was needed.
I find it hit and miss with leveling, some days i enjoy it more then others, depends how many times i have to repeat the Hemet Nesingwary quests :P
