I just did the math (or excel did) and the total amount of XP you needed for 110 was in 7.3.5 32'300'005, with the nerfs from last Monday it is down to 30'398'970, so around a 5% overall nerf.I am leveling an alt at the moment, and started Outland just last Monday after the nerfs. I am now finished and also did the whole Cata/MoP bit and am now sitting at 94. The biggest issue I have, is that the speed is still unequally distributed. I almost rushed through the Cata/MoP bracket (I did Vashj'ir and got to 87 which is absurd) while the whole Outland/Northrend part still felt rather long.
For those that are interested... the total exp needed (since I didn't see it anywhere) is as follows:EXP to level from 1-1107.0.3 - 30,605,8007.3.5 - 32,300,0058.0.1 - 30,398,970 (Roughly 6% less than 7.3.5)So as you can see, it's basically a 6% reduction in overall exp needed to level from 1 to 110. It's basically brought the amount of exp back down to that of 7.0.3, but it's smoothed it out over the leveling experience. This all being said, the total amount of exp needed is not the whole story as gaining this experience has changed in speed as well. I just wanted to provide some more numbers that I was interested in.
Thank you for a nice, calm, and rational response. I am going through this grind because of a TOTALLY OPTIONAL reward: Heritage Armor. I understand why Blizzard did this and I support it.It sucks to have to do the grind, having already leveled one of every class to 110 (except rogue), but it is no different that all other gating/reward mechanisms. This mechanism guarantees that I will get the reward I seek, provided I put the time in for the grind. Others, such as rare mounts, etc, that rely on drop rates... not so much. Just as some don't want the grind for a guaranteed outcome, others don't want to spend their lives farming mounts, or tokens, or mats. Leveling a toon to max is a fixed and known sacrifice one can choose for a set of vanity armor. Its been years since I've leveled a toon from scratch and have to say that heirlooms do make it that much more manageable. So, for those that say the leveling experience "is fine," let me say that I concur. For people just now jumping into the fray or returning with new toons, well... they will get the more or less the desired leveling experience at this stage in the content.Cheers, happy exploring!
I think everyone would be happy if the heirlooms nerf would be reverted to how they were prior to 7.3.5. If I invested thousands of gold in heirlooms to upgrade them to max lvl (stupid introduced system, good job blizz) at least let me actually feel like I am wearing them, not some overglorified blue gear with an xp boost.Back in wrath when heirlooms could be bought only by a max lvl char and sent to alts via mail, that's when looms really meant something, now anyone can buy half the heirlooms just by going in a capital city and asking for gold. Please make heirlooms great again. 120 levels is a lot if people want to lvl up more alts, and even more because of said allied races. Make leveling fun, not a punishable experience just because Jim and Bob want to have 20 alts.
so daunting to lvl all allied races now .. i am scared!
To everyone complaining about people complaining about leveling: are you really that dense that you don’t realize anything that isn’t current content is not relevant? There are plenty of people that have gotten loremaster pre- and post-Cata with every expansion on it. There are also people that have one of every class and even on both factions. Leveling to people with multiple alts is a tedious task keeping them (like myself) from the only useful part of the game. As such forcing people to get through it even slower than what it used to be is an insult. All while every form of experience boost gain has been removed or nerfed. Yet the max level boost sits in the store untouched. It’s disingenuous of blizzard. Really interested in taking these data and finding the area between 8.0 and 7.3.2 curves.
The big problem still remaining is Cata+ zones not being available 61-79. It's not just hell levels because of experience gain, it's from the literal agony of doing TBC or WotLK zones for the 19th time.
Seems like Blizzard focused on smoothing level-xp curve, for example, fixed not smooth transition from level 39 to 40. Also, the third graph has wrong legend - it needs to be 7.0.3, 7.3.5, and 8.0.1.Pretty good quadratic fit for levels 1-90.
Honestly the solution to leveling would be to make Heirloom armor great again. The new curve is fine but they could reduce the time by giving players who have invested a ton of gold into their Heirloom more EXP%. So the max now I think is 60% with both rings and a full set of armor. If they found a way to boost this so it was 100% not 60% (spread out over all the armor, except the rings) I think it would go a long way to helping.
Honestly guys, I really enjoying leveling, of course it takes time, what would you expect blizzard to do, just give you a 1-120 in a week? where would be the fun on that?Heirlooms make also fun to level up via LFG IMHO.If you don't like to level up just buy the boost and that's it, stop complaining like kids.
leveling since prepatch, can only comment on pandaria / draenor / legion. The newer the expansion the easier it is to kill mobs if you pull 1-3 at a time. If you mass pull, well prob get harder as they hit harder and your health doesn't really go up that much not using heirlooms as their is very little gear upgrades.however comparing it to before 7.3.5 its still harder, except for legion the mobs die alot faster in legion than before 7.3.5.its still a chore, but a fast one compared to what you used to have to do in able to get in the latest normal raid. All that grind, get the 2 good enough legendarys with most being "bank fodder", ilevel grinding etc.
Players: This food is terribly under-cooked and under-seasoned. The way you used to cook it before was so much better, even though it wasn't perfect then. As a long-time patron, here's some detailed feedback from ground zero to help you guys identify and correct the issue.Blizzard: Nah, it's totally fine. In fact, we recently got new kitchen equipment, so it should actually be even better.Players: Do you guys even taste your own food?Blizzard: No, we have food critics to do that for us.Players: And what'd they say?Blizzard: Oh, they totally loved it.Players: You sure about that?Blizzard: Fine. Bus Boy Bob, try the food.Bob: Dude, this is horrible.Players: Told you.Blizzard: *sigh* Here's a 10% off coupon for use between 6-8pm. It's the best I can do.Players: You're not even addressing the root issue here!Derpy Players: Oh, woooow. A whole 10% off! Thanks, Blizz! You rock! Derp de derpity derp.
Would it be better for you sooks to /wave at Sylvanas or Anduin to unlock all allied races now and in the future and just create one and log in to them to receive the heritage armour? I'm sure you'd be able to complain about something even still.
That's your opinion, mine is that it's still to fast and mobs are dying way too quickly. I am leveling six toons at the moment which will bring my total to 28. Only one dungeon has taken longer than 25 minutes to complete and that was because of all the role play and following Thrall around. You should have to go through your rotation a few times to kill mobs, not just use one or two abilities
