Ugh. I wish there could just be a simple in-game solution to managing add-ons. They're such small file sizes, and keeping them updated is such a quick and easy process, that there really shouldn't be a need for a bloated third party app to be involved at all. I won't be sad to see Twitch going away, but it would be nice if it didn't mean shifting control to yet another third party.
I would launch the twitch app once every few days and update a bunch of addons then immediately close it until the next use. As long as I can use this new app the same way then I really don't care about all the drama.
If something sounds too good to be true, it is.Remember.
To all those complaining about Overwolf "collecting and selling your data", I have some bad news about your browser itself, internet searches, social media accounts, the Twitch app, the porn sites you've been #$%ping to.....Hell, this very site has a disclaimer that says, and I quote,
Client on Twitch was (is) garbage. Happy to get rid of it.
I always hated Twitch, I never watched streamers, so I am happy. I will be uninstalling as soon as possible.
Finally. I've wanted to dump Twitch for the longest.
Great reason to take a hard look at which mods one uses and try and limit them as much as possible.
let's sell 'em again.
Bloody hell.. Trying to update 113 AddOns manually is going to be real fun.
I handle my addons manually since forever and i will keep on doing so.So, makes no diference. If you are too lazy to do so, then deal with anything they try to shove down your throat.
Twitch always seemed like such an awkward fit for addons. And yeah it's getting uninstalled for good here too, I never warmed up to the app or, honestly, the main use for it. We'll have to see how this Overwolf handles it. If it's laggy and comes with a ton of pre-selected BS then I guess it's back to manual installs and we just took two steps back again. I don't care about ads though, because this will be the single only use I will have for the thing and I promise you, I'll never look at a single ad - ever - let alone be foolish enough to click one. Sorry!
I actually DO use the Twitch client for watching streams and have enjoyed the combined functionality for mods. Considering how polarizing streaming has become I understand that it is not hugely popular for use solely as a mod manager. This just means another client to clutter up my already busy taskbar so I'd have much rather everything stayed with Twitch. I'm not happy to hear about other users' comments about privacy concerns. There's a reason I don't use social media with my name attached.
Both clients have its flaws and both clients collecting data so its not that much of a difference overwolf was very unstable und clunky the last time i used it and i deinstalled it after a while.since i am not a fan of the twitch client either (for obvious reasons)i gave an open source project a try and i have to say its a terminal use interface style if you know what i meanhave to write the commands for install and updatefor install you have to have the url for the addon so its not very handy and that is the biggest problem but compared to overwolf or twitch its much less ressource intensive and no data collection for sell or otherwiseso i guess if you dont like overwolf and dont want to manually update your addonstry cursebreaker
To all the people happy it is moving away from the Twitch clientThe overwolf client is far more garbage... some hearthstone players will know...
