Good for him. I know people may rag on him like "too little too late" etc and rightfully so, but he didn't have to do this, and he did. Hopefully this snowballs into more positive changes for the company, because god knows they need it.
Poor guy he ONLY will get 800k a year now. This is 72k per month, or after taxes 38k. Awwwwwwh poor guy. How will he live with 38k per month?
The news isn't even the funny thing here. More like all those people moaning about Bobby and all the money he gets etc. But still these people here put all their money into his ass nonetheless for years and then complai about him getting richer and richer. How about stop giving him money then? Just a bunch of hypocrites, nothing else. I stopped giving AB money months ago since it was clear they lose all their main Blizzard names like morhaime, Kaplan now and Kim etc. I do not wanna support Activision and this stupid !@#$%^& Bobby K. What about you guys? Only here to complain but not doing anything rather than still blowing money into Bobs ass?
He was clearly given an ultimatum: take the cut or out you go.You people talking about him like he's Iwata are out of your minds.
perhaps this is a sign that we are about to get some negative news lmao
50% of infinite money is still the same....
So many issues with this. First. CEOs bring valuable expertise and their talents and directive skill are directly related to their salary. If the CEO kept greenlighting and backing bad business decisions, then they wouldn't be getting their bonuses because the company would be losing money, or they'd be fired. Second. a $200 million bonus in stocks is NOT a $200 million bonus. And as someone mentioned, he has to pay taxes on that income, somewhere in the 50-60% range because he's in CA.Third. It is none of our business what a CEO or anyone else makes. If the market and the company can bear that value - if it's agreed upon by all parties, then it's appropriate.Fourth. For those who are arguing that the money could be goin to the average employee instead, I'd like to point out some math. If Activision has however-many thousands of employees over all their game studios, splitting the CEO's salary between them all would result in a negligible increase. In most examples like Starbucks (where some people had similar complaints) it would end up that employees would get an extra $7 in their total salary. Activision and the employees that agreed to work there both agreed that their services, skill, etc were worth a certain amount, and that's what their being paid.Snap judgements about what certain people get paid does not help in the conversation. Bobby Kotick isn't stealing from his employees, the board determined his leadership was worth a certain value.

I will say this before i go when Kotick sells his shares in a massive sell off then it truly is the end of Blizzard. That will be when the whole deck of cards comes crashing down.As long as his shares in Blizz/Act is worth some he can claim he earns next to nothing and cheat the taxman but when those shares are worth less than toilet paper then the Roman empire is about to fall!
This was a good move! Bobby Kotick, people not like him because they blame him for Blizzard's 'greed', but don't understand that it's amazing that World Of Warcraft got one of the biggest teams for any MMO, some of the best artists and developers, and video game writers in the world. Bobby could really easily turn WoW into what ESO is doing and simply turn new dungeons into DLC and put any new zone content into yearly expansions and have you pay out of your ears for the same account of content, and not even bother with bugs and so on..
People are still gonna get mad at him like he's the devil even though he's done nothing wrong. He's not only head of blizz, he's head of it activision too. People like to look at wow and think that's where it ends. The man over sees some of the biggest franchises in the world.
I didn't really care about how much he made. The issue was always with the aggressive monetization and terrible game design decisions that only seemed to benefit him as everyone else was getting fired or quitting.
Can you imagine how many employees could benefit from the 50% cut? I would like to see employees get the extra money? I would like a commission from the store/collector/epic game boxes to go to the artists that worked on those mounts, pets, and toys. I would like to know as a gamer that the artists are being taken care of. I would like to know that some of the profits go to the game developers and those that help make the game itself. Why do CEOs and shareholders have a hard time taking care of employees? I love mounts, and the pets, but I have a hard time buying them knowing that the artist is not getting a cut of the profits.
