PR move to make us think CEOs aren't amoral subhumans. Nice try, but can't fool me Bobby.
Poor guy will probably end up on the bread line...
This is a total smokescreen and will barely touch his bottom line. Unless they use that money they’re saving to hire back to the teams they gutted this is all corporate bs.
Now he'll be homeless :(
Oh boy, only 100 million to himself, poor guy
great stuff, now can we put all that money back in the development of... I don't know... Warcraft 4? Or maybe a warcraft 3 re-reforged by real blizz devs and not randomly outsourced to some random company?
Don't assume this was good will. The way these things tend to be, he was likely given an ultimatum and decided this was better than being fired.
Honestly, if folks read business journals and looked more into how companies operate, a lot of this would be understood. My larger post in previous pages explains why most CEOs take paycuts. After that I wanted to research the company and the writing on the wall was coming after Morhaime and certain folks left the company several years ago. ATVI has been notably and openly going through a massive restructuring which is trickling down to their subsidiaries. This would explain the layoffs, the salary capped Directors leaving and the changes we are seeing. The Board must of had an idea to direct the company and its subs in a direction for the future. This is obviously going to cause growing pains...no one likes change and some folks realize their forward track isn't going to line up, which could be why Kaplan departed but with these departures it could cause salary changes and benefit structures for the new talent taking their space. The company has to find ways to sustain as well as spend safely/smartly. I think we are going to see weird things happen and probably more departures of older talent in order for the company to start molding to its new business plan.
Let's wait for the other loopholes they will use to Bobby to continue to increase his paycheck. No way this guy agrees to receive any cent less.
"I'm a human person, see ?"
Good, now I do hope they hire and keep their workers
Everyone here's like "lol this i just PR". Yes you geniuses you've correctly identified what is going on. They literally open with "taking into account feedback". We got a bunch of Alan Turing's in here cracking the Activision enigma code.
If that money the company is saving trickled down to the employees and prevented other layoffs, then I'd be impressed. Chance of that happening? Slim to none.
Fire a bunch of people so you can get a bonus?
