Since you can champion this factions reputation (Ramkahem), one can discuss how much use 1000 rep is, compared to 200 gold.

On a side note, I can inform that the 200g fom this quest counts towards the "Got my Mind on my Money" achievements

IMO you'd be crazy not to take the rep. 1000 rep takes a while to get, even in heroics, while money practically falls from the sky in all the Cata zones. 200g takes about a half hour at most to get without even trying.

Not sure why this comment was downranked. What he said is true. 200g is nothing. If it was 2000g, hell take it. 200g I can make from quests or selling Cata mats like ore, cloth, etc. Those go in the AH for 200g+ a stack sometimes. And people do buy them. Rep on the other hand is more difficult to achieve. Sure you can slap on a tabard and do some dungeon runs, but getting that much rep takes time. Some people might be 1000 rep short of a sweet blue and they rather have the badge handy to instantly gain it than spending hours in a dungeon farming it.

Completing this quest opens up the Portal to Uldum in Stormwind. I would assume that the same is true for Horde.

If your guild has the 'Mr. Popularity' perk - it applies to the use of the token.

so you can technically get 1100 rep.

I chose the rep, and went to look at my reputation, and found I only got 945. But very happy to choose reputation. Then, eventually, I checked my bag, and found I had to click on the coin, and was awarded the reputation. Not a bad reward. Once exalted, one can get the camel mount.

Who needs info about this quest? You click accept, watch a cinematic, then turn it in to King Phaoris in a nearby room. My guess is most who come here are curious about public opinion on gold vs. rep. I know I did. That or give a shout out to our friend Budd.

Am I missing something, but it seems to me that for a non-human, doing the two dailies for 3 days would get you the 1000 rep easily? You'd actually get 1200 rep, even.

If you happen to search for the king, or any NPC for that matter, if they are simply not there, just fly away and back to the village to see all NPC's again. I had some phasing issue leaving me all alone.

I took the money, My theory was that 200 gold would be big boost towards the bread winner achieve.
Sadly, it did not count towards it.

TL;DR --- Royal Reward does NOT count towards The Bread Winner

If you think long term, taking the reputation is better, sure you can just tabard at lvl 85 to get exalted BUT... you could be using that item slot to gain rep with other faction instead of this one. AND if you take the rep you will also "make" money from it by saving it when repairing or shopping food, etc. whatever you might need from ramakahen.

Either way the rewards aren't that special. You can make 200g in like 30 minutes doing Cata stuff, while by the time the next expansion comes out you will be exalted with every faction (most likely). So the choice is really up to you.

I normally despise "sit and watch a cinematic, get lots of xp" quests. If I wanted to watch a non-interactive video, wouldn't be playing an interactive game. >.< But! This is one of the coolest rewards ever. I wouldn't want every quest to be rep vs. gold, but some more not-boring-greens-useless-to-your-class quest rewards could be very interesting. Especially if they have this "no right answer" kind of feel to them.

The difference between the rewards really is long-term versus short-term. The reputation gain gets you the ability to purchase the reputation reward gear much sooner, so you get to use better gear longer before it becomes obsolete from heroics/raiding, as well as being able to use the arcanum earlier than otherwise. However, once your character gets to the point where they get better gear then the rewards are worthless save the arcanum, and because of tabard reputation gains you will get exalted eventually. Mostly though, when the next expansion comes out the reupation will be completely worthless, while you will always need gold.

That being said, I chose the reputation because I personally value time, which would instead be spent on reputation gain using lower quality gear, more than the additional purchasing power from the 200 gold.

In my humble opinion it is much better to choose the reputation. After completing the chain to get to the point of the quest turn in, my Ramkahen rep was 2090/3000 plus I received 30 rep with my guild while wearing an Illustrious Guild Tabard.

Just a heads up because if you are high enough to be questing in Uldum, chances are you are making a lot more gold than 200 measly coins. Farming ore/herbs/leather here will net you more than that. Since reputation is much more of a pain in the ass, I'd recommend that. The choice is yours however.

Choose the badge, +1000 rep with the big kitties.
Choose the shiny gold, +1000 rep with Budd.

That's how I made my decision.

This is the last quest needed to activate the Portal to Uldum.

I decided to take the 200g. I have found that hitting Exalted is quite easy with Tabards and Dailies. Especially this late in the game, the ilvl 359s are worthless. For me, the only reason to push the rep is for the BoA. But, of course, that doesn't even matter if you already have a toon exalted with Ramkahen. With account-wide mounts in MoP, it matters even less about the camel.
