Lucky I guess seems most are having to cast many more times than this. GL you will catch it...Part of The Limnologist achievement.

i have caught 2500 fish from Lake Everstill in Redridge Mountains without catching the Bloated Catfish.
Catch Rates were;

i would have to assume that apart from the two fish at the top of the list, everything else shares the "loot table" for the Bloated Catfish.

Considering i caught 23 of these 'rare' common items out of 2500 fish, it would indicate that, on average, you have a chance of getting one of these common items, or the Bloated catfish, every 100-150 fish.

i have since grown disgusted at the sight of Lake Everstill (wouldnt you after 12 hours of fishing there?) and moved to Wetlands > Bluegill Marsh where martingauto said he caught one and so far i am up to 100 fish caught (including 1 x 19 Pount Catfish)

Hopefully the fishing Gods will smile on me soon and i will see a Bloated Catfish on the end of my line.

3500 casts at Hillsbrad & 2000 casts at Redridge, still no catfish. But hey! I got plenty of mana & healing potions.

let me be the first to try to confirm...

if you are fishing for this in Redridge Mountains, make sure you're actually fishing in Lake Everstill.

I did +7000 casts at this location. It said "Redridge Mountains" on my map. I moved about 50yrds to my right where my map then said "Lake Everstill" and caught Bloated Catfish on my 32nd cast!

Could just be a coincidence that it can be caught in both places...however, seems very true that you have to be actually in "Lake Everstill"

After a lot of fishing granting me the other 5 bloated I went for this one, but this time RNG was a biatch making me spend 2685 casts in Redridge Mountains..

i did 1200 casts at the lake in south east arathi where witherbank village is and nothing yet, going to try lake everstill now.

Less than 1k casts in Lake Everstill. I'm horde so I fished on a log a lil west of wizardcho's spot so the guards wouldnt attack me. Anyway I've been fortunate with getting this bloated fish so far, all with pretty much 2k or less casts but still have redgill, mud, and brilliant left.

Around 800 casts (WoW crashed & lost my first session of stats from Fishing Buddy), Lake Everstill (29,51). Also got 17,19 & 22 Pound Catfish.

I was so set for around 2K casts I wasn't watching & got it about 50 casts before I realised...

Found a few bloated fish by fishing in floating debris off westfall, including a bloated oily blackmouth, which isn't listed on thottbot at all. Got a moss agate out of hte blackmouth, and some junk out of the others.

i have found this three times on the coast on stranglethorn when fishin in the floating wrecks that wonder down the coast. they are very common in the wrecks....

Bloated Catfish is only one of several types of bloated fish. These fish are commonly found at the new fishing spots introduced in the patch. I've made many catches at the floating wreckage, and the occassional catch at the firefin/blackmouth spots.

Bloated fish, in general, tend to have gems inside. You also have a chance to find a magical ring or necklace.

Bloated fish have only been available since the recent fishing changes, so don't let the drop rate fool you. You can find quite a few if you stick to the special fishing spots.

like my earlier post for the bloated oily blackmout its just the guys of thottbot didnt find "all" the items that drop allakhazam is a direct partner to WoW thus they have more if not exact information on all items. in thottbot the items that say "limited supply (#)" actualy is how much they have between a certain time. the traveling salesman from redridge to elwynn had like a 5 hour spawn on the potions armor and weapons he sells he has a limited amount he just doesnt have that amount for everyone to buy

right click on fish to find minerals inside have had 2 of these...one with soulgem and one with malakite inside. also can find at the loch
