Found on pretty much all the new herbs in Outland. The only way to farm Fel Lotus is to pick every plant you see, and maybe you'll get 1 for every 100 picked. Suprisingly these have been selling for very low on the AH due to them being mistaken as another white herb, where they should be considered green as the Black Lotus.

My prediction is that these may sell anywhere from 50-200g a stack, once the need for flask's arises, depending on AH supply and demand, and the economy.

I haven't found a single one and I've herbed at least 60-100 BC herbs. Is this typical or am I slightly unlucky or VERY unlucky? This is about 40-60 of them post patch 2.1

I got my very first one tonight, and i have been 375 herbalism for 3 weeks now...probably picked 200-300 plants to get one...so horrid drop from my experience.

Even as a Tauren maxed (390 w/racial) since TBC came out the drop rate on these are crap. They go about 8.5gp's average on LS server.

Since 2.1 when the droprate was changed (higher or so Blizzard said) I didn't get a single Fel Lotus and I herbed more than 200 nods.

Might just be luck, but today I leveled herbalism all the way from 1-375, and got around 15 fel lotuses in the process (all at skill 370+)... I'd say the 15% drop rate is pretty correct for hi-lvl herbs.

These sell for around 40g per Fel Lotus. If you just pick every herb you come across as you are flying around from place to place, you should get one every so often (3% spawn rate). Hang onto them for making such flasks as Flask of Pure Death, as you will save yourself quite a bit of gold in the long run. Finding the Nightmare Vine and Mana Thistle can be a pain, however, unless you have an epic flying mount.

Drop rate does seem to have been decreased. Prices on all servers are jumping due to it being much harder to farm.

The Sunwell patch has indeed increased the drop rate. I found five of them in a little over an hour while doing the "Gaining the Advantage" quest for the Sunwell faction. I had found six in my character's career before tonight (and I've been at 375 herbalism for a couple months now) so the supply is going to increase, meaning the price will likely drop in the AH once everyone realizes this.

I ended up getting about 6 in an hour while farming in Dead Mire. Kill the bog lords and giants then "skin" or "pick" them.

Fel Lotus are also used in Mycah's Botanical Bag, the new 28 Slot Herb Bag in PTR of 2.4.3.

You'll need 2 Fel Lotuses (lotusi?) and 4 Primal Mooncloth, Revered with Sporggar and 25 Goldcaps. The pattern's BoP.

With WotLK the fel lotus is no longer a "green" item. You will still need it for the BC-Flasks but it isn't worth as much as in BC

Not sure if Im doing something wrong but looking for herbs in SMV ive picked up 40 felweed, 42 nightmare vine and 14 terocone .... ONLY 1 fel lotus .... thats WAY to rare ...and Flask of pure death is the only orange Alchemy spell i have ...boo hoo :(

That they're found in Ancient lichen nodes as well; picked one up from Slave Pens. Not 100% sure of this, as I gathered ragveil and felweed inside that instance as well,and really wasn't paying attention to what I was gathering.

Three weeks ago these were down to 13g and I bloody regret it that I didn't buy the entire market backthen because now there is an insane shortage on Frostwhisper (EU) - lotuses cost 50g each atm and have been around 40g each for at least a week by now. !@#$s up my raiding since Im not gonna pay those astronomical prices :(
If you can get these for 20g or below, buy it all man. Doesn't matter which realm really because from time to time the shortages can be extreme.

This herb have use for New outland flasks.... chance to drop from any outland herb the drop rate is betwen 1% and 2% max .... so pretty low .... keep farming herb and u sure find some if u lucky u can get some in 1 hour farming ... i saw my self highest drop rate on mana thirstle and nightmare vine ( those 2% )

Not many herbalists on my server so i get lots of herbs... i hit 375 herbalism in Hellfire Peninsula at level 61 :-). I also had stockpiled about 240 felweed in my inventory that i had been saving up (I am now lvl 66), and I don't know if it's just luck but i managed to get 9 Fel lotuses. I'm prolly gonna sell for now... ill just get some more when i need em again.

Instead of being at the right place at the right time, you just need to be lucky while picking flowers. Better than competing for black lotus spawns. This will fetch a good price since they're gonna be used in the new flasks.

According to my mod (Gatherer), every time you pick Fel Weed, there is a 3% chance you will also get Fel Lotus.

Just pluck everything you'll see, you'll get there.

Btw, I don't think you need 375 Skill, I got my first before that. It's plain luck that's needed.

I've checked around here and, after what I saw the drop rate is a bit higher on highlvl herbs like mana thistle, netherbloom and terocone then it is on felweed. And 0,02 % is totally wrong, the correct droprate is about 1% on felweed and between 1,5% and 2% on highlvl herbs.

I've looted more than 300 Felweed plants from my time playing and I've only gotten 2. Enough for me to make the Alchemist's Stone so I'm content.

On average I get a fel lotus 1 out of every 150-200 picks. I mainly receive them off of felweed. I do not know if this is how it is designed to be or if this is more of a coincidence.

For people that are complaining about picking up to 300 or more and not receiving a single one, there is a bit of bad luck although this is not unusual.

I gathered most of my fel lotus's level up from 300 to 375. About 12 of them.

Between leveling up alchemy and trying to discover potions I have done many herb runs and still the average of receiving one is the same between 150 to 200 picks.

If you do gather one in far less fewer than 150 to 200 picks...it is few and far between to see this although I believe it is more of good luck rather than designed.

I do not believe this is only skill based as I have gathered more leveling up herbalism rather than doing herb runs at level 375.

So keep picking and hopefully you will be lucky enough to get one and put it to good use...whether it be selling or using for flasks.

I've been an herbalist for the longest time and herb quite often since the release of TBC. Got my first fel lotus (2) drops off of felweed on 9/12/07. Horrible drop rate or just bad luck?

If you only pick a random herb when you pass it by coincident I guess there's long between them.

For those of u on servers where these dont sell for much, id probably recommend buying alot of the out off the AH or if u have some hang onto them....

Cause on Dragonblight they used to go for about 3-4g and i thought to myself surely at some point they may match black lotus costs (about 15g) and slowly but surely they reached 12g and went onward, currently they sell for 20-30g..

So me figuring this at the time....had an entire stack that id picked up each one for about 4-5g each and now the easily go for (due to high demand) 20-30g

So if they are cheap on ur server hang onto them and buy em out, they will go up for sure :-)

Drop rate is up and down, I had 32 in my bank and have sold a couple and made 2 flasks since TBC launched and 2.2 patch.

Just sold 15 at 17g a pop Emerald Dream EU Horde side (though our pop ratio sucks (20% horde 80% alliance)

The drop rate had to have been lowered. With no exaggeration, I farmed for 16 hours straight (From 1pm to 5am), in Terrokar, Netherstorm, Zangarmarsh, and the ledges in Nagrand and SMV. I also took to farming the tree sentinels in Skettis, killing 23 of them and herbalizing their corpses; in all that, I found 1 Fel Lotus.

I'm starting to wish I hadn't had wasted all those I had farmed before crafting flasks for discoveries because they're up to 25g on Frostwolf, and are completely sold out of the AH.

All of us have farmed for hours looking for these and they are random, Tek forest seems to be best place to start as there is terocona and felweed, then to shadowmoon for more farming.

I am elixir master so I use these all the time for our guild raids to make flasks.

One thing you should do is let everyone in your guild know that you need them so that when they find one in either the AH or from random drop from any kill they will send them to you. With the proc from elixir mastery sometimes one fel lotus can make multiple flasks, so I always wait till I have 4-5 on me then make a bunch of flasks and wait for the proc. Look for a higher drop rate once expansion comes out.

I was thinking of dropping Herbalism for enchanting for DE gold farming, but flower picking can earn some great money in lots of ways since nightmare vine is now very expensive as well as netherbloom.

The drop rate on this item sucks the big one!

As an Elixir Master, I need this item to make those Elixirs everyone craves but I can't justify making them anymore because the AH price on this item has gone to 35G each and I can only sell my elixirs for 30G. So why make elixirs and lose money?

I am a 375 Herbalist and 375 Alchemist...Have been for over a year now....Heres teh scoop on Fel lotus.
These are random drops form herbs being picked in Outland. They will drop off of anything.......Dreaming glory, manathistle, fel weed, netherbloom....whatever. It's the rarity that sucks about these things. Sometimes it feels like waiting for a blue item to randomly drop from a mob and then seomtimes you can get 2 in a row. Personally they should drop more often. On my server(Tanaris) the sell for 15-18 gold each and they are used only in flask pots made at alchemy labs. Black lotus is somethign as an alchemist you will never need......AH IT! My server they go for 5-7 gold being that back lotus drops more often than fel lotus. Kinda gay I think but thats just my thoughts.
Alchemist if you want to say screw farming Fel lotus and actually make some moeny from flasks by buying fel lotus. I suggest you buy the lotus and have master of elixirs so you can make more from one creation. Works for me when im being lazy about picking herbs...lol

Whoever says Black lotus is now not needed is speaking from opinion, not fact. On Boulderfist, I still farm black lotus in old world regions and make the Flask of Supreme Power. They currently sell for 30G-40G a piece on our server. As far as Black Lotus/Fel Lotus drops...yes, it is an algorithmic random drop. Black lotus obviously old word, Fel in xpac. If you say you are having 'bad luck', I can appreciate that. However, if you are flying OVER an herb and not dropping down to grab it, you are lowering the odds of getting that lotus...it's a simple math fact. I have learned that when I join say, an instance group, I try to be the FIRST one heading there, because I KNOW I'm going to be distracted en route by dropping down to pick up the herbs I pass on the way to say, auch from Shatt.

That is another thing, I don't fly in to Allerian anymore, I fly from shatt on my own mount, picking up herbs as I head to Skettis to do my dailies. My luck has been pretty good, I think, considering the 'randomness' and rarity of this herb. Good luck and happy herbin' folks.

Dont know, fact is I dont find them as much as I used to.
landing at almost every herb, stil . . .
So now selling the herbs I pick up while looking for Fel Lotus, and with that money I buy the Lotus.

Not the easyest way but it gets the job done.

Just to clarily a point made earlier, the prices have increased over time because the item is now needed by more people.

They're mostly used for raiding flasks and not many people raided less than 2 months after the expansion came out. As time went on more and more people found the need for these flasks and therefore the item so the demand increased and so did the price.

I have had a bit of time off work and found there to be better chance of dropping off-peak time for some reason.

Late night i tend to get approx 4 per evening just by picking anything i fly over in outlands. When i work i don't play past midnight but now having been off work and no commitment to early mornings (bliss!), i've been having far more luck with A/ Fel Blossom B/ Fel Lotus and C/ Motes of Mana/Life depending on the herb.

I dont know if this is because there are less people gathering or because the lack of late night players leaves me more of the herbs available. But there is certainly a difference.

If any of you who play on the PTR may have noticed, in the upcoming patch black lotus and fel blossom is going to be replaced with fel lotus drops. It will still be a rare drop but this should increase the frequency. This will be a major help to flask alchemist(which I am) as Fel lotus is required.

I have gotten this from the Zangarmarsh giants, Fungal Giant, Bog Lord, etc as a drop, and also FROM HERBING THEM.

This is not reported as possible on thott, but it surely is. I've got 3 from drops and 2 from herbalism so far.

Yesterday, I had back-to-back Fel Lotus picks twice. Once in the mid morning (about 9am) and another around midnight. What I mean by back-to-back is that two weed picks in a row produced a lotus. I didn't take a snapshot of the one in the morning, but I did of the one last night.

The numbers and percentages are very rarely accurate. What I would guess is that this is a reflection of one person's thottbot profile which uploaded info where this fel lotus dropped. 100% of 1 isn't that impressive and should reflect that it doesn't really happen often (if ever).

Best thing to do, is go kill a dozen of these brutes and see how many drop one, then you'll know for sure. *smirk*
