Hmhmhm... The updated news seem like they'd be quite a bit more enjoyable to read/scroll trough.
hrm - Could you embed a tabbed choice between the blue tracker and blue tweets in the same layout space?
The font choice is bad in my opinion, it looks ugly. Now it looks just like your sister site esohead, which I greatly dislike :(Do we really need font size 50 for websites on pc? Not sure what exactly you guys are trying with this design with HUGE fonts - make the website look good on TV browsers? Why not make use of full hd screens? The vast majority of gamers have moved to 1920x1080 monitors already, since years, yet the websites only fill half of that horizontal space. Why is that? We use the monitors on landscape mode, not on portrait...
Looks really great apart from the font which is just horrible. Also the Guides thingy on the Warglaives screenshot seems like a bad use of space.
@Daeveren: I'm not sure where you are seeing these 'huge' fonts, but other than the news post headers and item names, everything seems to be size 12, which is pretty much the default size for everything on the internet.@leobolin: The guide thing you are refering has been live for quite a while, and while I agree the positioning doesn't make much sense, it's not related to the new layout.
Looking good, that preview. Congratulations on finally moving away from the "Thottbot" approach on your homepage Not that it was a bad thing, mind you, just a bit outdated. =)Would also like to see what docseuzz asked for (a tabbed choice between the blue tracker and blue tweets).Keep up the great work!
@Daeveren: I couldn't agree more with that assessment.
For the love of god change the font. Also what bothers me is the social media icons in their respective colors. I would make the the same color currently they look so harsh against the background. Maybe a soft grey or just white. Layout is pretty good glad you aren't doing a completely new terrible revamp like some other gaming sites.
Nothing should be smaller then 16.
In before "That font gave me Corrupted Blood"!But seriously, we posted this for feedback, and we're watching people's opinions of the font closely. :)
Looks good to me but I have to agree that is a bad font to use, especially for the headers. Nothing wrong with good old Arial for headers but otherwise I have no complaints.
I can't see any problem with the font personally. It looks fine to me.So, basically this change seems to be making the front page look like the current news page? With a slight redesign of the top-level menus to highlight class guides? The article summaries look like they are being restricted to only show the first few lines which will make it easier to scroll through the articles to find the ones you want. This will be much better than the present arrangement where you have to scroll quite far down the page to find any missed articles.Other than that, I'm not seeing anything too significant (which is just fine because wowhead is already great!).
I personally feel like the search box should be the focal point of the front page as I think it's the biggest strength on the site, and with this new re-design it's being shrunk down and stuck at the top right just like every other page. I do enjoy Hearthhead's layout in this respect, but the ability to peruse Wowhead's comprehensive info on pretty much anything you can think of with the search box should at least be celebrated on the front page. But I do agree with the re-design since I've always wondered why news articles were buried in their own sub-section and not at least displayed a little bit more than a simple graphic on the front page since they're great quality and I love to read them.
Agree that the font looks weird. Please stay with Arial. Not sure I really like the border-less item lists, either, there's no real distinction between entries other than an alternating shade of dark grey.Lastly, the blue buttons... blue looks weird against grey, I'm already despising that "Update" button in the Profiler.
Will this change affect the mobile version of WoWHead?
I like this new design. But yeah, Arial is the way to go.
