i really hope they add the same kinda weapons to moonkin as they did to feral/guardian
Fang stands for Fangs of the First Nightsaber - feral weapon. Look at the ice kitty form - it's very similar to the 3rd Fang's screenshot.
curious how a melee hunter will play
I think that Aluneth resemble the idea of Arcane Mage, looking from the other model.
"Doomhammer. Thrall's Weapon, he's lost hope..."Whelp, if they remove Green Jesus this expansion might be worth just to see that.Joking aside im liking new weapons.
I hope Aluneth is the SH priest weapon. Looks cool. Something refined after the nail-in-a-stick orc design. :D
To me Aluneth seems more like an Arcanemage Staff to me.It would also make sense, because they showed the fire- and frostmage artifacts already.
I play a hunter so I don't have to melee. I play survival because it suits me. Now I am not sure I want to play a hunter at all. Hope it's worth it.
From things they said at the announcement, I think I have a good theory on why we are getting Ashbringer and Doomhammer. They said something about "taking up the weapon of one who has lost faith". I think it's Thrall who has lost faith. We don't really see him after he killed Garrosh. I think after that, he and Aggra went back to Azeroth. From then until the upcoming "Broken Shore experience", he's been sitting at home brooding. Thrall comes back to fight on the Broken Shore, and after that battle he's lost his faith and willingness to fight. This might be from either seeing the number of demons and feeling overwhelmed, becoming sick of fighting after killing Garrosh and now this invasion, or seeing someone he cares about die in this invasion; or a combination of any/all of those three. Thus, Thrall drops the Doomhammer on the Shore, and stomps off home to Durotar. Then, the Enhancement Shaman Player takes up the Doomhammer in his place. For Ashbringer, I think its like this; they said "paladins will retrieve the Ashbringer from where it fell on the Broken Shore", or something like that. I think this implies that Tirion brings the Argent Crusade to help fight at the Broken Shore, and despite being an old man, he leads them from the front like he did in the final fight with the Lich King in ICC. And because he is an old man, he either gets cut down in battle, or suffers a heart attack or something during it, keeps fighting, and dies once the battle is over. We all have to retreat before we have a chance to bury him, so later the Retribution Paladin Player is tasked with recovering his body and bringing him back to Light's Hope for burial, and in doing so they find Ashbringer still with him, the demons not being able to steal it because touching it hurts them, and takes it up as the new champion of the Light or whatever.
Sweet, something bad happened to Thrall! Deserves it for murdering Garrosh.
No one cares about arcane magesI'll continue to pewpew
Ehrm, what about enhancement Shamans? Doomhammer is a one hand weapon, what about the other hand?
Will Enhancement Shamans have two doomhamers?
Frost Death Knights dual wield, they get two different one handers: Ice Bringer and Soul Reaper. While Enhancement Shamans only get one weapon, Thrall's mace, Doomhammer. Is it a 2hander? How is that going to work? No more dual wield for enh. shammys?
I think that the 'spectral' off-hand for enhancement shamans is a bad joke, and Doomhammer is actually going to be two-handed. Look at 1:25 in World of Warcraft: Legion - Feature Overview, if you pause it just as it shifts to the female Tauren, you can see that she is wielding it in two hands. So i guess this means we're going back to enhancement wielding two-handed? :) would be nice!*in the presentation he mentions that the offhand will be a spectral version of doomhammer
Thrall lost hope? He defeated Deathwing, killed Garrosh, escaped brutal prison, he's not one to lose hope. Tirion dead? Better be from being old. Anduin has aged, so old age better be the reason we're getting these weapons now. If not they're writing bad lore just to give us cool weapons. Not cool.
The "Fangs" are druid's weapons. Rogue ones haven't been revealed yet, I don't know why you people are pointlessly speculating on that front.
I'm not terribly excited for this, but then I play classes so far that don't have a lot of pre-established lore working for them (Mage, when Khadgar is still holding onto Atiesh). Really hope Aluneth isn't the Arcane weapon, though with my luck it won't be Aluneth and will be something very heavily Dalaran-focused, which will be worth. Bonus frustration points if Dal is the mage hub despite the bad blood there for Horde. On thing I think Blizz will need to watch out for is making the multiple forms of the artifact still feel like the same artifact, from a visual design standpoint. They did a good job with Ashbringer and the Doomhammer, but The Eagle Spear and especially Felo'melorn look like far different weapons from one another. While everyone of a spec having the exact same equipped image would get tiring, if Blizzard wants to enhance the fantasy, a single named item should have a unique visual identity through its changes.
