I would have liked to hear about how the in-game cinematic team has started implementing lip-sync in some of the newest segments. I was surprised it created more immersion.
This was a great interview. Really enjoyed it, and am so excited to be getting more "Warbringers"-style vids with Dragonflight.
This guy asked good questions but I think he was a little nervous. Hopefully the experience does him some good.
Honestly it's probably all this "artsy fartsy" stuff that keeps me coming back to the game, the overall art direction, music, and other kinds of work of that sorts.Probably because there's some challenge in it; after all, how do you present your cool idea/story to the audience (the players) in a way they can "get it" considering the technical limitations and the kind of the way the audience interacts with the game? It's something where you kind of have to come up with rather unorthodox solutions and work with what you got.
I always admire blizzard cinematic team but i wish they forget about real time in-game cinematics completely. the thing (among so many other things) i don't like about shadowlands was its real time in-game cinematics and i don't think many people love them anyway, they just want a excuses because in reality it's more faster, easier and cheaper to do more of them like every other company nowadays do in their games. they are feels ridiculous especially with wow engine.
I'd prefer they just do cinematics in place of cutscenes. The cinematics were the one redeeming quality of BFA
I'm the opposite! :p I would rather see cutscenes with my character in it. Makes me feel part of the story instead of just watching it.
I thought the blue glow was algae or something!
About Shadowlands not intended to have CGI series - previously people asked about this - then why create full CGI models for the Covenant leaders and show them for just couple secs? Kinda like plan was for more...
Taliesin picked it up, the colored nebulas, in his cinematic analysis. https://youtu.be/oyg3KesclIg?t=1543
Still hoping one day they add lip sync AI like many other engines have for cutscenes. It really shows the game's age.
Interesting read. The only one I'd majorly disagree with is that the community hadn't latched onto the idea of a Dragon themed xpac a year ago - It's been one of the main predictions since at least BfA.
