They shouldn't do this, it will ruin the dragon riding system and turn it into braindead afk autoflying like the game has been since TBC.Stop ruining the game.
I don't get the anger of limiting DF flying to your personal dragon. As long as we were flying, what difference did it make?
As always they don't fully commit with their idea
So its nothing more than Dragonriding being replaced with normal flying anyways and then just trashing this system entirely after that unlock instead of making it an opt-in cause people are crying around that they can't afk-fly immediatly? Then why did they introduce it in the game anyways if they gonna completely replace it with the air-swimming?Thats really stupid.
They should do this, cause normal flying improves the enjoyment of this game for many people.Zereth Mortis was way more enjoyable for me when I could fly, still circling the zone looking for the rares and chests that I wanted, but now i could actually get to them.Personally its the things at the end i want to do, not the journey to get there, so fake flight paths between the covenant zones and just the added time really irked me, it detracted from my enjoyment of the game and added nothing in terms of immersion. This still feels like typical blizzard, introduce a new system that mitigates the lack of flying but has restrictions, to capitulate later with proper traditional flying. Hopefully they will actually build on dragonriding with actual things to do other than getting from a to b, like races, quests or combat
I actually agree. This could be cool and new, and completely removing it in a patch or 2 would be a "why did we even bother"
Better late then never I guess.
Good. It will be a nice fallback if Dragonriding does suck. So long as they make Dragonriding the faster and more enjoyable method then letting folk use regular mounts to get to places they missed etc I can see both systems living side by side relatively harmoniously. For once though I 100% understand not having regular flying in at launch, Dragonriding needs space to breathe unlike with prior expansions where they gated flying.Honestly Zereth Mortis without flying was horrible for me.
Nobody has said that dragon riding is going to be removed when regular flying is available. What they have said though is that dragon riding had the potential to be faster then regular flying. So eventually there will be two options to move around. One that requires a bit of skill for faster flying and one that requires no skill for regular speed. If they add cool activities around dragon flying, such as races and time trials, then this feature will still be fun and relevant even when regular flying is enabled.A lot of commenters are jumping to some wild conclusions that just aren’t backed up by anything.
Dragon riding was intended as a mini game/system for launch, of course regular flying would come in a later patch as usual once we have explored the zones
