Just another way to get the Syndicate Missive...if it fails to drop...i got off of drop and then picked this up...only had one Missive in my inv...pick one and get it done quickly...remeber to bring the Stout from the Inn Keeper in TM...

The Southshore Stout can be picked up from the Drunken Footpad, who wanders around the Syndicate Camp.

I just did the quest with hated Syndicate rep, Your Syndicate faction rep. does not effect this quest.

Edit: If he is not friendly to you do the following:
Kill him and then wait for him to respawn.

If anyone does this quest and does not kill him after the quest is complete he will attack everyone.

Maybe somebody can help me, but I can't interact with Valik at all. He's friendly to me, but when I mouse over him I don't get an exclamation point, and when I right-click on him nothing happens. My Syndicate rep is "Hated," but I know other people have gotten the quest at hated rep. I've tried disabling my mods, and tried him again after a server restart, but I still don't get a response. Is there a prereq that's not mentioned on this page? Maybe it's my breath?

EDIT: Turns out I didn't have the quest "Infiltration" from Krusk. Once I had that quest in my log, I was able to talk to Valik.

Seems that it becomes unavailable after completing Infiltration quest.

Note that you have to complete The Rescue from Krusk in Tarren Mill. After that you'll get Infiltration from him, which lets you get the letter.

I just completed this quest and it DOES count towards the 550 needed for Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms.

i Can Confirm this quest COUNT for lordmaster of eastern kingdon AND 3000 quest!

just did it on my lvl 29 druid

BUT if u completed infiltration quest (like i did on my priest 80) the quest will never show up

An easier means of getting the stout for Valik is going to the Innskeeper of nearby Tarren Mills and buying it for less than 2s.

Beware though, I've seen Valik aggro me when I came back to give him the stout. Just kill him and wait for him to respawn. He'll go back to being friendly (learned his lesson, didn't he?).

If you gank the Drunken Footpad he drops the stout you need for Varik.

Teh easiest quest ever.

In the camp north of Tarren Mill just do what the othre guy said. Kill the Drunken footpad, it will drop the item for que Valik's quest (270xp lvl 32) and then just deliver Infiltration quest (2700xp lvl 32 + 100 rep with Orgrimmar)

This quest was weird.... I got the quest from that guy to get the Stout, then a few minutes later ((And a couple transformations into the Spirit of Redemption)) one of the theifs dropped the missive.

So I just abandoned that dude's quest and turned in the missive O.o

You just have to buy the stout from the innkeeper in tarren mill then return it to the guy, BUT you can also get the Synpicate massive by killing some normal syndicate, I got it on the second syndicate I killed so that way was much faster then go to Tarren Mill and back.

ok. tech support told me to delete my addons folder for a patch upgrade so now i have no chords to work with...heres how to end quest with no chords..... so go and buy the drink from inn keeper in tm. than head up north on the road just east of tm.valik is directly north of town on the alterac map. hes on the rise east of the road. the other 3 rises will be west of that road. so if u dont have chords follow that instruction and you'll be done
.....btw dont waste ur time killing off syndicates. buy the drink at inn. and deliver it like i said. done in 2mins i promise

You dont really need him to complete the quest, when you are lvl 31ish you can get a quest called Infiltration from an orc at TM church. On that quest, it is requested from you to bring a missive to him, you can kill syndicates from the camp at north to get it or just bring some southshore stout to the NPC near by that camp (Valik) and get it.

2 ways to complete the same quest.

ok Valik considers you as enemy so when you first appear he might appear as a quest giver or a enemy either way just kill him or take the quest if you have to kill him just kill the syndicates instead but if hes yellow talk to him kill the drunk person beside him for a bonus 300xp to your quest after this he turns red and wants you to kill him

Confirmed.

If Valik is hostile when you first meet him, it's because someone else did the quest before you and ran away without killing him.

You MUST kill him, and wait for him to respawn as friendly, in order to get this quest in that case.

If you already have the Syndicate Missive, you'll fail the quest because you can't have 2 of them. Destroy the one you've got, then turn in the quest. Its a dinky amount of xp, but its better than nothing.

Valik went hostile on me immediately after I completed the quest, but he takes a second to aggro, so you can run away from him and not have to fight him.

So I picked up this quest, got the stout from the Innkeeper and came back, Valik was red to me, no ? over his head. So I killed him. Then I just figured I would kill everything else out of revenge. He repopped and was now green with the ? over his head. Turned in the quest for 270xp (lame) and got the missive (equally lame). Is there any point to this quest?

u can get the stout for this while your looking for the missive just by killing the drunken footpads, extra xp is a bonus *shrugs*

As I tried to get the quest, I was jumped by a Footpad. Which dropped the Missive. This is a pretty useless quest.

I got the quest from him, a syndicate attacked me, and it dropped a syndicate missive, so no point in doing that quest, really.

If you must have Infiltration, then this is a Horde Quest.

Might as well test your mettle when doing the Syndicate Assassins Quest (Alliance), and kill Valik for practice.

If you abandon this quest, you apparently can't pick it up again.

Confirmed in classic:

Quest giver Valik for Quest: Valik is located at 57, 69.4 (Alterac Mountains, not Hilsbrad Foothills)

Valik will ask for Southshore Stout which can be bought at the innkeepers in Tarren Mill and Southshore.
After giving him the stout, the quest will end, you will get a Syndicate Missive, he will aggro and become kill-able.
You cannot complete this quest if you already have a missive in inventory

This is an alternative to randomly killing syndicate NPCs for Syndicate Missive drops.

Two choices here.

1. You kill Syndicates for Syndicate Missive and complete Infiltration
2. You grab Southshore Stout from the Inn, and deliver that to Henchman Valik in order to complete Valik and receive Syndicate Missive and complete Infiltration

Number 2 is most recommended due to achievement count.
