Very nice little item. Easy to get (don't even need to do a full instance run for it, just first boss) and pretty damn handy. 20 a day doesn't sound like much, but it works fine for a feral druid. Saves money on bandages, and you don't have to go around and beg a mage for water and food every time you log on.

very nifty since it takes an invintory slot and not an equipment slot. nice to have when you find yourself in an instance and you've already burned through your food and/or water and dont have a mage handy to give you more.

Jep, I love it. On grinding sessions, when I hit the half of my Hitpoints and Mana, I can just eat/drink one of these and go on. With 1-2 hours of grinding per day I don't need to buy any food drink anymore *happy*

Even at level 70 I still find this to be a very useful item; but ultimately it is the *best* for when you are leveling from 60-70, so I'd recommend getting it as early as you can! (As said above, rogues and druids can solo the quest for it in Underbog as soon as they get it!) 20 free food and drink every day is awesome when you're grinding levels, and it's great for PVP too. If you're around half health and/or mana you won't feel guilty chowing down on an underspore pod in BGs because you can always make more of them and they don't cost anything. Of course, if you have a mage friend around all the time to conjure you up never-ending food and water (or if you are a mage!) you may not see the point. :)

Also, for hunters who have pets that eat fruit: (I've not had a pet that ate fungus so I don't know if it counts for that as well) when feeding your pet, the actual item level of the food, not the food level requirement ( like what level you would have to be to actually eat it) is what the amount of happiness gained is based on. If you look, the highest level vendor fruit you can get is level 75 where the Underspore Pod has an item level of 100! currently, this is THE best fruit you can give your fruit (and maybe fungus, as I said, haven't tested yet) eating pet until the Xpac comes out.

EDIT: I just yesterday tired to feed one of the pods to my new Silithid on the current PTR and it didn't like it (they eat fungus and meat only), so this DOES NOT count as fungus: just as fruit.

I'm wondering if is there any reason not to trash this item, as of now.

It was already useless at 70 because there is better food, and later on it would be even more useless...

But for some reason when I try to destory it it asks me to write DELETE as if it was something important... why?

Honestly, i don't understand you people... don't you want faster drink times or something? It's just a waste using this crappy item. Even back in TBC it was a lot easier to just drop a gold and buy that food/water, You won't die from losing a gold, would you? WOULD YOU? No.

aye okay so it's good and everything, but I think people are overating abit when they say "Oh I got this on my bla bla and he's level bla bla and I NEVER have to buy food or water" I mean... come on? it's just 20 of'em, so either you're taking a very very small amount of damage or you're not questing for more then an hour a'day.
Sounds like it's some legendary item when people are saying that they "never" have to buy food/water, still it's only 20 that you can create.

It is not useless. It may not be exceptionally great but its nice for PVP.

Example: End a fight at 70% mana. You don't really want to waste gold on what will probably regen while you wait for the flag to cap. So you sit down and guard your flag and get an extra 4k mana with your regen.

They really need a new one though.

I'm a resto druid with a feral offspec.

These are very handy when i swap specs and go back to 0 mana and then have to GotW, thorns myself, and then morph back in a bear/cat.

Even in 3.2 (WotLK) I find that when I run out of food I rely on this stuff on my priest.

Of course, it would need 3 lots of water to get my mana back up to full, but still, its a great time saver - stopped me having to run back to a town to get food /drink many times.

I find it funny that people find this item useful. Sure it creates food but it has a 12 hr cooldown! Freaking Pathetic if you ask me. I'm always full of food lately thanks to fishing and cooking. But I never use bandages anyway either. If they reduced the cooldown to at least one hour then I might have use for this item.

Even a warrior or rogue should keep this forever, free food when grinding is nice. And sometimes the bestest food is overkill, using this you can just 'top off the tanks' when you're halfway down.

For hunters it's simply the cat's ass, hands down.

Unless I'm missing something this item is pretty much worthless as you can purchase better food and drink. Is it used for something else? I went to destroy it and it brought up the "Type in DELETE to destroy" box, so I'm wondering if it's important at all.

TBC Classic, it looks like the item can't be vendored or disenchanted (while great for other classes, it's useless for a mage).
