No longer causes rezz sickness! I'm not intirely sure cause i've never bothered to look but you probaly get 20% of base mana, 20% of total mana would make this alot more useful but i doubt it does that

When a shaman dies, he has two options:
"Release Spirit", and "Reincarnation".
If you press "Reincarnation" one of your Ankhs will be spent, and you are resurrected at the place of death with 20% health and mana.

You have a choice to use this spell when you die. If you die with a Soulstone on you you lose it for the remainder of the 30 min regardless if there is a priest or other rezzer still standing.
When used in combo with the Soulstone you basically have a backup if for some reason you end up dieing twice in a 30 min span.
I don't know about PvP but in PvE this is just as powerful as "Divine Intervention" and "Lay on Hands" combined.
1st - You are in control of where you stand much more so than where anyone else is standing. If you are going to wipe run to an area where no mobs will be to die.
2nd - With Divine Intervention you must use it when ppl are almost dead and another rezzer must still be alive otherwise if 30 sec goes by and ppl are still running around screaming, the DI will almost always be a failure. Not to mention in the heat of battle its hard to type "move back so I can DI you".
3rd - This can be used similarly to LoH by consuming it in the middle of battle and healing yourself once on you are on your feat, which may be appropriate if the battle is close.

Some of you guys are quite obviously alliance. Stop complaining about shammies, pallies are over powered too, they are like shammies, but without self rezzing/ghost wolf, but they do get bubble/plate. Just stop complaining, it's anoying.

(there, now I have gotten everyone pissed at me)
The reason people hate Shamans is not for one ability, it's for all of the cheap abilities in one character, so we should stop ONLY directly comparing abilities to abilities.
As for this ability compared to DI (20 yard range) (I think they are going to increase it in 1.10), though, DI is actually much worse. DI and this each have a 1 hour cooldown.... no problems there. DI and this each require a reagent.... no problems there either. The main difference comes with the use of this. Shamans only have to worry abuot dying far enough away from any mobs, whereas paladins have to worry about a few things. They need to make sure they are close enough to the person to cast, that the person they are casting it on is actually in a good position, you actually have to find a suitable person to cast it on (this doesn't sound hard, but DI is ONLY to be used when you are POSITIVE that there is no SS up and that the raid is going to wipe. Now, you can normally only tell that after most of the damage is done, and you have to try to find a correct person to cast it on who is still alive and is in the right position and is within range.)
BLEH.
Next, we can take a look at Earth Shock. Compared to pallies, first off, well, yeah.... pallies don't have any ranged attacks. At 44, they get hammer of wrath. Hammer of Wrath (30 yard range) is nice and all.... I mean, 1 second cast, 6 second cool down, and, at level 60, 504-556 holy damage, but seriously folks, you need to get them down to 20% health first, so it's not really comparable. Next, we can compare it to mages's attacks. Just to give Shammys the best chance possible, we will look at fireball rank 12 (you learn that from a book). Fireball (35 yard range) does do more. Fireball does 596-760 Fire damage and an addition 76 Fire damage over 8 seconds. Now, Fireball is like the ultimate damage spell for mages (not including channeling spells or AOE's), and mages are actually supposed to be able to do the most damage with spells (not counting DOT's). Fireball is a 3.5 second cast. Earth Shock (20 yard range), on the other hand, INSTANTLY does 517-545 Nature damage AND interupts all spells for 2 seconds. It has a 2 second cool down. Yes, this does less than Fireball, and it has a longer cool down, but this is INSTANT, and furthermore, it's a counterspell. Also, we are comparing it to the ultimate attack of the class that's supposed to be the best at doing spell damage.
MEOW.
Now let's look at the Lesser Healing Wave. We can compare this to Pallies's Flash Heal and Priests's Flash Heal. I'm not really going to look into Druids's heals because they are more complicated, and I would have to go a lot more in depth to fully cover them well. First off, just to get this out of the way, they all take 1.5 seconds to cast. The paladin's Flash Heal heals 343-383 for 140 mana (40 yard range). The priest's Flash Heal heals 812-958 for 380 mana (40 yard range). The Shammy's Lesser Healing Wave heals 832-928 for 380 mana (40 yard range). WTF, MATE? Priests (with the possible exception of resto druids) are supposed to be the best healers BY FAR. Not that I am complaining about the paladins, but this is basically having pallies be horrible, and having shammys and priests be equal. >_>
another one bites the dust... unh.
The larger heals, however, is where the shammys begin to slip. The paladin's largest heal (not including Lay on Hands) is Holy Light (rank 9) which heals 1590-1770 (40 yard range) for 660 mana (2.5 second cast). The shammy's heal is Healing Wave (rank 10) which heals 1620-1850 (40 yard range) for 680 mana (3 second cast). The priest's heal is Greater Heal (rank 5) which heals 2618-2922 (40 yard range) for 1040 mana (4 second cast).
Actually, if you think about it, they are moderately equal. O.o
Now we can look at the totems. For all the pallies complain, the blessing are a whole lot better, especially now that there are the greater blessings. Pallies can bless once every 15 minutes, and their blessings are really, really useful. The shammy's have amazingly good totems, but they have to carry around stuff int he backpacks, and the totems don't last very long at all.
Sorry pally's, shammy's win that round.
Rezzing....
Druids have the 30 minute cool down rez which requires a seed (in the inventory). Granted, they can do in-combat rezzing, but it doesn't really compare for the purposes that we are talking about. It's not a reliable rez (yeah, it's awesome, but it's not the same). Paladins have a little quest at level 12 to get their resurrection (redemption). At the final levels, the pallies have redemtion (rank 5) which brings a dead player back to life at 600 health and 800 mana. It is a 10 second cast, and it takes 80% of the paladin's base mana. The shammy's rez is Ancestral Spirit. They get it at level 12 also, and, like the pally's rez, the final is Ancestral Spirit (rank 5) which also brings the person back to life at 600 health and 800 mana. This is also a 10 second cast, but it takes 90% of the shaman's base health. The priest's rez is Redemption. Priests get redemption at level 10. The final redemption rank is rank 5. This one, however, brings the person back to life at 750 health and 1000 mana. It is also a 10 second cast, but is only 75% of the priest's base mana.
They are mostly even there. The biggest thing is, though, that shammys get sooooo much good stuff. Share the wealth :P
Shammy's can temporarily enchant their weapons for free. Rogues can enchant their weapons too, but it requires reagents.
ZOMG FROST SHOCK IS T3H HAXXORS.
I mean seriously, it does 486-514 frost damage INSTANTLY for only 430 mana. It also slows the movement speed of the target to 50% for 8 seconds. This spell has a 6 second cool down. WTF, MATE. It has a 20 yard range. Frostball (rank 11) is a 3 second cast, costs 290 mana, and has a 30 yard range. It does 515-555 frost damage, and it slows the targets movement speed to 60% for 9 seconds. I'm not really going to say which one is better, because then both mages and shammys, and every other class for that matter, will tell me that I am wrong, but I will say that shammys can do this while also being able to do all the healing and rezzing that priests and pallies can do.
sigh....
Lightning shield and lightning bolt and just other things that add to the UBERITY that is known as a shammy.
There's chain lightning and chain heal (blah blah blah mana effectiveness blah blah blah). Just getting those out in the open.
Shammys can also cure diseases and poisons >_>
Now we get to purge.... WOW. So uber (I gotta get me one-a dose). INSTA-PWN all :P
Just to make sure everyone knows, purge (rank 2) (at level 32) costs 10% of the shammy's base mana, and instantly removes 2 beneficial magic spells on the target. INSTA-PWN!
Yeah, priests have dispel magic (rank 2) which costs them 18% of their base mana and instantly removes 2 harmful magic spells from a targeted friendly, or 2 beneficial spells from a target enemy.
This is where the things start to get me though.... why just randomly give shammy's good stuff, not great stuff, but good stuff?
Astral Recall (level 30) is EXACTLY like a hearthstone, except it has a 15 minute cool down. One extra inventory room for shammys and 4x as often hearthing. O.o
Water Breathing.... yeah, it takes Shiny Fish Scales, but what the crap?

Ghost Wolf, which shammys can get at level 20, is a 3 second cast which takes shammys 100 mana.

But of all the things to randomly decide to give shammys, I think THIS one tops them all.
Water Walking.... yeah, it requires Fish Oil. w00t >_>
It's an instand cast that costs 95 mana.
"Allows the friendly target to walk across water for 10 min. Any damage will cancel the effect."
.... WTF, MATE?

No, what it really is, is that shammys can heal BETTER than pallies, they can rez, they can arguably do VERY well casting spells (damage-wise), they can use mail, they can use shields, and they can use axes and maces. Also, they randomly get little spells that make being a shammy more convenient (cure poison and cure disease....underwater breathing, 15 minute hearths, travel form, and WALK ON WATER O.o).
After all that, though, I do think the class of shammys, as compared with the class of pallies, is pretty even.
In my experience, if a pally can get in close to the shammy, he/she can beat the shammy, but if the shammy can start ranged, and keep ranged for a while, the shammy should win.

You guys are such noobs. Half of you can't spell, the other half doesn't know the meaning of grammer.
Shamans aren't cheap. Paladins aren't cheap. Each have their own weak points and strong, you just have to exploit it. My main is a NE hunter and so i don't know much about shamans, but from my point of view in BGs, they aren't that great. Sure, they are good (like all other classes if played right) but they aren't godly. That self-rezzing spell is nice, but it isn't over powered. It has a 1 hour cool down! And the shaman only comes back with 20% health and mana i believe...surely you could take another 20% health off seeing as though the Shaman has limited options now. My point is that no class is over powered, you just need to learn how to play your class.
*This has nothing to do with any of this, but don't you just hate Hunters who use Shammy gear?*

on my cousins 60 alliance Priest I do UBRS and strath a lot.
Pallies plate makes my heals worth more, there buffs don't die in 1 hit and last about 45 sec, Divine Intervention may kill the pally but makes any one of there choice invincable for 3 minutes unlike a shammy reincarnation the can only rez them selfs.
Even though Shaman own pvp I think your gonna do instances with a pally more often.
& an off topic idea for AV when Horde have about killed general pally use recall shield them selfs and use your 1 hour CD full heal on General :D not sure if it works yet just an idea
Travle Form vs Ghost wolf: I say they are very equal Because even though Ghost wolf is at lvl 20 it's not like Travle form can be De spelled :P

1. I bet most of you just get owned by Shamans in PvP.
2. Shamans arn't just "support", neither are paladins, nor druids. We arnt a 100% "hybrid class" unless we spend all out talent points equaly. I have an elemental Shaman, and i crit on my shocks and lightning bolt alot, and i almost never heal and the only totems i really use are offensive ones. I have a retribution paladin, who hardly ever heals, but procs SoC all the time and does mass damage. I have never played a Druid, but i know a Balance druid is awsome at Offensive spells, and Feral is amazing at forms and such.
3. All of the Shaman tricks, 15 min. HS, Self Rez, etc. I dont see a problem. We arn't "overpowered", any class could kill a Shaman if they know how to play it. Rogues have so many little skills, Kidney shot, slice and dice, rupture, expose armor, how is that not unfair? Warriors get even more! On my 60 warrior, i have like 10 new skills in battle, berserker, and defensive. How is whirlwind + sweeping strikes + retalliation not unfair? Just play the class you like, instead of complaining about the ones you dont.
p.s., for all you guys making fun of people that dont spell right, your just being stupid. If you look at someone's post and say "they have bad grammar, so their post and opinions suck too", are being illogical. Stop trying to make yourselves look better, people type how they type, so judge their post not their spelling.

From what I have seen this ability (forgive my words) Kicks azz. I have seen many videos of the shaman being killed and the person who killed him being at like no life then him coming back to life and owning the person. Now from looking at what you guys said the reason people hate shamans is because there shocks do so much damage and the fact they have a totem that slows everyone down. Thats about all they hate. I mean ghost wolf is good but has a casting time so druids are better at getting to there "Travel Forms" and running flags in wsg (damn those druids) and there heals are ok but really there only good for yourself. DOnt get me wrong a resto spec shaman is a good healer. And they do good in instances but like the pally they are more of a back up tank/healer then anything else.
To let you all know I come from watching shamans play and only seeing two things I hate about them but the real thing I hate is there counter part pallys. Now while these two classes where built to counter act each other so no side would have the "god" class it is still very iratating to fight someone who has about 4 times the life that you see ont here bar. What I am talkign about is the pallys shield that makes them immune to all for like 6 secs that I think you can make better. Also the fact they have a billion stuns. By a billion I mean like 4 but I do belive two of them are at range and then there heals not taking alot of mana. What I am trying to say in all of these mess is that shamans while over powered in some areas are just another support class in others and that pallys are basiclly in some ways to good in some areas but at the same time BORING to play and fight against.

if anything Shamans are extremely under powered in most aspects. GW is not instant makign druid better for travel and wsg and by 40 GW "makes like a ghost, and disappeares" cuz they have mount which is faster. Shammys also very rarely heal themselves well atleast from what ive seen and experience as 1, about 80% never heal themselves. Why would they its near imposiible to heal without DI making them fall to pallys. So what if they have frost shock or earthbind, mages, warrs, pallys, and rogues all can stop you dead in your tracks, whether its gouge or frost spells , or HoJ, and much more. Shaman just slows you down! Shamans are so very unaccepted and this is a pathetic and obviously terrible coverup by blizz to make them the odds 1 out. How so? well for starters the there is NO enhancment gear except pvp-epix making them obviously inacceptable as a build choice. And then for resto/elementals Shamans are very un-mana efficient, as a Shaman using totems and shocks scarcely i never have mana. if anything they are the class with the most useless spells and skills, such as far sight, sentry totem, water walking, water breathing, astrall recall is ok but not combat oriented what so ever. Flameshock, Flame wep, and Frost wep are pathetic. Poison Cleansing totem is NEVER used. And almost all the regen totems are terrible. Shamans are not easy given biased and unacceptablilty by blizzard. They are pressured the most and very poorly understood. So before you say they are better than all or are multi class see how much of a joke Blizzard tried to make of this class and how they made them a bit of all to be shuned and unused.

I find this kind of kiddie 'debate' a bit depressing. As far as Shamans are concerned, it really boils down to what kind of realm you are playing in and what you're in the game for.
If you are on a PvP realm and PvP all the time, don't have a good guild and rarely do instances and raids then sure, Shamans will appear to be all powerful PvP machines.
If however, you are on a PvE realm or on PvP/PvE doing a lot of guild instances and raids, then Shamans are just one of those 'other' classes.
Bt that I mean, if you ever look at the LFG channel, the call will always be 'Tank (ie warrior), Healer (ie Priest) and Mage.' There will always be room for 'and one other'. Personally I always want that other to be a back up healer (ie Druid) and another DPS, either a Warlock or by preference a Rogue.
Shamans just aren't up there I'm afraid. They can multi-task sure but are let down by a low mana pool, a lack of health points and poor armour to do any serious healing or tanking.
You will never see 'need Shaman for BRD' etc.
I personally also find Shamans only medium at grinding up levels compared to Rogues and Hunters. Their best skill is Ghost Wolf in the way it cuts down on traveling as low as 20th level, but even still they lack the efficiency of other classes in dealing with mobs and quests.
The other element on PvP that people tend to forget is that the Horde are outnumbered by from 2:1 to as high as 5:1 in most realms. Meaning that Horde toons in BG's get a much faster turnaround time and therefore play and experience more. Horde toons in PvP tend to have greater (and harder) experiences than those on the Alliance end - making their skills and judgement levels very high. When you combine this with the PvP skills of the Shaman, then you get toons that are very hard to kill, and very good at killing.
A final word on grammar. My spelling would not be the greatest, but I do feel that the art of communicating your point(s) across in an intelligent manner is a base necessity in any open debate.
'WTF' 'I pwnd u' is the kind of language people use in which, either the level of education they have recieved is sub-standard, or they lack the intelligence to utilise the English language in a manner fit for perusal.

i hate this spell in pvp :) when i was a discipline priest leveling, a shaman jumped me while i had half my mana. i dispelled his buffs, he purged mine. i mana burned him, healed, feared and did everything i could to outlast him. we fought for awhile, but i beat him. next thing i know he uses this spell, rezes and kills me. yeah for long graveyard walk!
anyway, since i have a large family (cousins, brothers and even sisters) who plays wow, i have access to all classes, and play them every now and then for fun. easiest classes by far in pve are shamans, pallies, hunters, and since their patch, warlocks.
i found pallies to be really boring compared to shamans, even though i like healing. blessings, seals, and a judgment every now and then, while mostly auto-attacking isn't my idea of fun. shamans get everything, and is much easier to play than a druid.

OMG ive gota great idea for getting a raid together! {on Stormwind lets say}
1. Get a shammy 2 run into cathedralof light abd get killed by benedictus
2. get a rogue to stealth to the shamans corpse
3. self rez
4 tell a warlock to run to the place were the other to are hiding and get himself and the shaman killed {rogue stealthed}
5. rogue uses Goblin jumber cables to rez shaman who then rezzzes the warlock AND FINNALY ASSEMBLE THE REST OF THE RAID!

All you guys against shammy's are complaining like this is better than this skill of the shammy. take the druid's travel form and GW druid's are better in this aspect but the real power from the shaman they have all in one.
their skills maynt be the best of it but they have it that's what matters

Since nobody has posted anything -useful- so far..
This Macro will show you the number of ankhs remaining, and the cooldown left if it's been used, all in a helpful indicator at the bar. Very useful
Open up your macros by /macro and create one with the red ? as it's icon and whatever for the name. Simply put, without the quotes, "#Show Reincarnation" and then put the macro on your quickbar somewheres.
