im just wondering. If you have full rage what would be better if you had to chose between slam slam slam ect.. till your outta rage or HS HS HS till your outta rage (this is with a 2h weap) with the highest rank HS and slam cause i was wondering witch is better i mean slam is faster but it does less damage HS is slower but it does a bit more damage.
and one more thing. Since slam has a "casting time" does that mean that you have to be standing still to use it like a spell or can you be running and use it caus eif you could that would be great

As far as slam/slam/slam vs. HS/HS/HS lets review...
We'll assume the following:
1) You have full improved HS and slam (talents and skills).
2) The 2 hand weapon has an attack speed of 3.7 and will hit everytime (for the sake of the argument) for 100 damage plus whatever the bonus from the skill is.
3) The target will not be dazed (as that requires additional rage) for HS examples.
4) Both skills will be selected after the last auto attack (as we need to have enough built up rage to perform this rage dump).
HS. We auto attack for 100 damage, then perform 3 heroic strikes thereafter. Total elapsed time is 11.1 seconds for 4 attacks, with 400 normal damage + 624 bonus damage (208 x 3). Rage cost was 36 rage. The DPS was 92.25
Slam. We auto attack for 100 damage, then perform 3 slams. Total elapsed time = 4.5 seconds for 4 attacks, with 400 normal damage + 420 bonus damage (140 x 3). Rage cost was 45 rage. The DPS was 182.22
So, for a measley 9 rage points, you increased your DPS by 197%.
EDIT: The #1 use for slam is procing flurry, but let me show you what slams nearly as important secondary use is:
Same parameters as above. Nothing will change with heroic strike. Here is what we will do with the slam though...
Slam --- 4 attacks. We auto attack then immediately slam after each one. 4 attacks made in 8.4 seconds. We do 400 normal damage + 280 extra damage. Total rage cost was 30 rage. DPS was 80.95
So whats the big deal, the HS example had more DPS (considering you can even get rank 11 HS, which is yet to be found)... The deal is, I could have done that starting with anywhere from zero to ten rage. 9 of 10 times I would have generated the rage to slam with during the auto attacks in that 8.4 second time frame. I've also turned my 3.7 attack speed weapon into a 2.1 attack speed weapon.
Hopefully the confusion surrounding slam is gone. The only thing HS has for a 2 hander over slam is a better damage to rage ratio, which is clearly not worth it when considered against DPS.

ok that was sooooo helpfull ty but can you run and do slam or do you have to stay still?

well~~this ability is still hard to get any use~you see it causes weapon damage, if you are a fury WAR then you most likely DW, single weapon damage is very low. unlike bloodthirst which cause 45% of AP apart from weapons! this ability could be used in tank...or an arm war with MS in cooldown..

Sorry if I missed this. But does slam interupt the normal auto attack sequence?
Im a major hunter nub and with steady shot you weave it in-between your auto shots to drastically boost dps
Is slam the same way? Can it be done between auto attacks?

with improved slam, this ability is great. For exapmle, because im so impatient, i didnt take the time to read throught all of the talents and didnt spend any points in improved slam. My friend however, did, and now he completely annihilates me in terms of dps, becasue of this skill(40% more)

I think slam is best used immediately after an auto-attack since it DOES reset your auto-attack. I wouldn't use slam consecutively however since that kills your rage gain between attacks.
I can't say how good it is in pvp since people move around a frickload. It's probably best to use imp slam on a person who's been slowed down (hamstring, wing clip etc.) in order to garentee it landing.
Spamming slam isn't a great idea and it's best to use to followup an attack or directly after using charge/intercept. Damned good for 2h and REALLY slow wpns

Dual-wield, I would say HS is good to use. But I think its more fun to have a big, slow 2hander and spam slam on mobs while leveling. At lvl 32-33 I 3-hitted equal level beasts in less than 5 seconds. I hate to have to wait for charge... -_-
First I charged + normal attack, then slam+slam after. Ofc all crit, but I didnt have any buffs. Best thing is that the beast dropped like THAT...! Slam is a must for leveling, I'd say...

Imo the use of this ability gets alot different depending if you have or not have the improved form.
If u don't improve slam, and use a 2-hander it is often when u have tons of rage and then just spam slam with no problem, cuz both the cast time and global cooldown are at 1,5s. This is not so very useful in PvP tho, but great to use in PvE
Improving slam however, makes it more of a "normal swing + 1x slam"-combo, that bcuz of the global cooldown. It is less useful to spam this ability when it is improved, but it doesn't stop you from doing so if you want to. Although, doing a normal swing directly followed by one slam is useful in both PvE and PvP since it's only a 0.5s delay for 2 strong attacks.
I'd also like to say that using this, improved version, one time directly after a normal swing has even more potential than using MS (Damage-wise only tho, cuz the debuff of MS is great).

mostly i use slam when mortal strike and whirlwind is on cd.
dont use it if u dont have rage for it though. probably u need to have 25% crit+ and hitrating enough to not miss your white attacks for this to be really useful.
good use for it in pvp if u have some rage over is
intercept+slam+ms+whirlwind. with some luck u get in a extra hit too :>
