Talking to Okri gives you the come back ride to the village... but the gryphon don't stops and you return to the wall... and Viq'Goth and his tentacules are back. Even relogging don't solves the bug.
So quest bugged, for now.

after killing viq'goth, leave the harpoon and look behind you to your right(if your facing viq'goth), left if you turn around, and youll see an outrigger gryphon, mount him to complete the quest. If you talk to Okri he will fly you in a circle around the bay, right back to the harpoon, and youll have to kill viq'goth again.

I were not able to kill the 3 tentacles b4 new ones spawned. So i went down and killed em "normal way" then the boss actualy spawned. i went back to the npc, flew to top of the building and shot the boss with the harpoon. then he died and i got a new objective to use the other gryphoon and could turn the quest is where i landed.

hope this makes sense :)

This quest is very buggy as of May 22. The spears have no collide with most parts of the tentacles and Viq'Goth. For the tentacles, shooting their roots at the seafloor is the most likely way to hit them. For Viq'Goth, there is a tiny part of his beak that the spear can hit, once you find the spot hold it there and spam 1, you'll kill him eventually.

I just tried running this quest. Both head & tentacles were all up at once from the start. Despite doing damage with the harpoon gun their health never moved. I even tried falling down the wall & attacking him like normal. I could get the tentacles down but did very little damage to the body. It was funny while I was there watching the griffons doing kamikaze runs all around me though disappearing then surfacing out of the water attacking him. May 27th

This quest is still bugged as of May 28, however, you can still technically complete it by manually killing him. A friend and I spend 36 minutes fighting him and upon his death we did indeed get quest credit and were able to move on with our lives.

if you fall down to kill viq goth if still bugged, you have to go back to outrigger post and take to same npc to send you back up the wall to fly back to anglepoint wharf

If you fire the big cannon by talking to the man, it will just make Viq'Goth run away and will not kill him.

Still bugged 06/04. Tried killing him manually but it didn't work. The tentacles would die but he did not take any damage and then the tentacles would just respawn.

As of newest build, it can now be completed.

First, speak to Okri Putterwrench and ask him for gryphon flight.
After you've been delivered to wall, use a harpoon to shot down incoming purple spheres.
Then get to the huge cannon where an engineer nearby, speak to him to make a final shot.
Use gryphon nearby to fly back to Brannon Stormsong and turn in the quest.

Take a gryphon from Okri Putterwrench, it will take you to the wall.
Destroy the purple orbs coming from Viq'Goth using harpoons at the wall.
Then talk to engineer standing near the cannon.
Use gryphon to get back.

You aren't shooting the monster with your harpoons, you are shooting the purple balls of void energy (Erupting Darkness) coming toward you.
In a group, you get phased out from all your friends, and you all have to do it on your own.
If you fall off the wall, you can go talk to Okri again and he'll give you another gryphon ride up but he won't be glowing like before.

To aim the canon, hold both mouse keys and drag the mouse around until on target, then let rip! :)

Heh. I saw him pop up when I turned a quest in, and missed the Deadliest Catch quest, so as a hunter, I went and shot him. This went on for a while, then I got bored and went to see what I'd missed, picked up the quest and did the 'shoot down the night spooge' part... then went back and shot him again. Cannon? Ha! I've shot Deathwing in the face, I don't need your cannon!

I did 'kill' him, but it took over half an hour. He sank into the water, the popup dialog talking head for the quest completion came up, I got a screenshot of him underwater (Looked the same, just sticking out of the ground), then he came back up and the quest went back to the bit where I was supposed to get on the gryphon and take off, so I did.

EDIT: I mean the name of the quest chain: "The Shadow Over Anglepoint".

Long unbugged, for anyone sorting on new. You shoot the void orbs he's throwing, for some very stupid reason.

The conclusion to this whole part of the Tiragarde Sound (which is pretty huge - old god content, it's a massive part of the story) is.. shooting black orbs that can't hurt you anywhere, just change the color of the stone you're standing on. You don't kill the monster: he just happens to die. It is one of the most utterly uninteresting quests I've seen in the expac, because the devs couldn't be bothered to FIX HIS HITBOX. I sincerely hope Shadowlands does not have the same tonnage of bugs, basic systems that we take for granted being left broken, and just.. quests like this shouldn't exist. We have no involvement in the ending of this piece of the campaign. Remove the quest completely and leave it hanging, and I'll prefer it over something stupid like this.

If you level 60 in Shadowlands, you can kill it directly but it won't give you credit to the quest.
