People act like it is freaking brain surgery to install a SSD. Unless you are playing WoW on a 10 year old laptop you can easily upgrade a PC or laptop with an SSD. There are thousands of videos on Youtube or tech sites showing how to install and copy files and SSD drives have plummeted in price over the past year or two. I have WoW on its own SSD on my desktop with two other SSD and and older HDD running with no issues. There are cost efficient copy software and kit options out there. If you are going to spend hours upon hours of game play then skip Starbucks for a few days and grab an SSD then get a cheap coffee and youtube how to install it, problem solved.
When I bought my first SSD back in 2014 I haven't really looked back since.
It's 2020, I'm surprised somebody actually have a pc without ssd. I mean you are actually paying $10 (or whatever) per month plus your time (that's the most valuable thing everyone has actually), don't you have money to buy a ssd? (you could have a cheap one for ~$40 or less). This is like having a car without tyresFrom user perspective a ssd is the higher boost in performance overall by a lot. cpu? ram? motherboard? It doesn't matter if you don't have a ssd
It's definitely worth making the investment, you can get a good sized SSD for like $30-$40 and it's pretty easy to get it running. I picked one up a couple weeks ago after they made that system requirements announcement; figured it was time anyway. I had to look up how to format it, but windows has a built in "wizard" for formatting a new drive to make it usable so it was pretty easy.WoW's load times weren't terrible for me before, but there was a very noticeable delay for icons and textures and stuff to show up, like i'd have to wait several seconds for them to appear before i could really do anything, and it was kind of annoying. But now -everything- is faster and i'm READY for shadowlands!
Who still uses HDD? SSDs are so easily accessible and reasonable in price. Once you get one you'll realize how much you've been missing out on.
hmm might try moving the files on my comp later to see if that helps
I recently plugged an external SSD with usb 3.0 connector, works wonder. I copied my WoW folder over to it and I can really see the difference in loading times. Back on my HDD, upon login a character, the textures/models would take up to a 1min to load properly and cause screen lag when moving. Now with my SSD it's pretty much instant. I highly recommend one.
And you needed redditor and tests to know, that there is huge difference? 👌
people still use HDD? what year is this
Imagine dont using a SSD in 2020. Technology from the mid 90s. Prices are low as f*** since several years. Imagine ....
Just in case people are confused to migrate their Windows from HDD to SSD - Samsung provides a migration tool to do that for you:
But can I play it on Xbox Series S/X or Playstation 5? Actually... can I play it on my phone? :-P
