I'm getting strange nightmares about war and a Loading Screen with a Purple Demon and a King in it...
The comparison is incorrect, you can get decently good speeds from an HDD if what you want to use is at the front (beginning) of the disk itself.
budges
would be nice to see also the difference to an NVMe
I was the 0.5% failure rate. Had to go back to my HDD and it does hurt a little
Well thank god I already got an SSD lol Something tells me in shadowlands, details have been ramped up and will require more load time on an HDD anywhere you go. I used to be on an HHD and to load into Dal took literally forever. Sometimes a timeout happens and I got dc'd it took so long. But I broke down and got an SSD and.. let me tell ya my god it made the experience even better. Not just teleporting around (which for me literally shaved the load times by 2/3rds +) but the CPU usage went way down as well. Anyways if you can, get an SSD if you been thinking about getting one if you don't already. It will change the game play so much you will kick yourself in the arse for not having one in the past.EDIT: About the 2/3rds, it was actually a lot more. Loading takes about 5-10 secs as apposed to the 2+ mins with an HDD. That's what I meant to say
I don't really know how to install them or if the computer I got could handle a spare drive, so I'm leery about doing it.
Bought a SSD at the start of Legion cause Dalaran loading time is too much
I hope I can buy a gaming desktop someday but I was able to delete some stuff from my basic old laptop to make room for the background download. Now I know to make sure I get a SSD whenever I can buy a real computer! The HDD backup for other files is a great idea too!

Now I can see the big difference of HDD versus SSD when there is big comparison between two loading times, watts, and other uses. Also, this shows me how big difference in SSD that is in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X right now from HDD.
I want to play wow shadowlands bcoz its so lore intensive but i have an old laptop. I do meet all of the requirements except for the ssd. Can i load up wow in a ext SSD via usb 3.0 and play it from there. Is it feasible? Otherwise ill have to not play this expansion.
I just picked up an SSD the other day, mostly because I needed one anyway. And the load time difference for WoW is like night and day now, and I love it.
i play oh a hard disk drive and sometimes even after loading i am usually dead if alliance is around. :(
