I remember back in the day, when I was but a wee troll hunter... My and a pug was tryin to do Razorfen Kraul. When we got to the first boss, the warrior tank switched to berserker stance to " do more dps". That would have been bad enough, but up till now the healer (Druid) hadn't really needed to heal much, so I hadn't really paid attention to him. After looking at his gear, I realized he was feral specced, and had almost no mana. We tried to attempt the boss anyway. The tank was quickly killed due to his lack of health and the healers lack of heals. The boss then quickly killed the healer and started to attack the other dps. Luckily, I was able to have my bear get aggro, and mend pet and bandage him until the other dps were able to take down the pig. I got a Thornspike, which was fairly good for that level, much better than anything else I had at least.
Well, I don't know about 'epic.' But the most personal loot I have ever recieved was one of the VC exclusive-drop birds. Hear me out here.I was getting ran through Deadmines at level 17 or so on my shaman by a guildy; a 45-ish Night Elf Hunter. She was nice to me through the whole run whilst we chatted through the whole excursion. A few pulls before the boat the bird dropped. Was nice, didn't have any pets at the time so I took it because she didn't want it.Well, run is over and we become good friends. Time passes and I learn of her name and where she lives. I was ecstatic! She lived 40 minutes away from me (with little traffic, at least.) We actually start seeing each other in person. She's just as nice and enjoyable in person as in-game, and we become very close.Well, by time my shaman is 69 (level I stopped playing him) I have replaced everything from that run... except the bird. But, this is when the story becomes hard for me to speak about in person.A few months into it all, my shaman just got to good-old-shiny 69 Pre-WoTLK... My Night Elf friend, I'll call her Kaula for means of this story, became victim of an accident. It was on the 26th of November in 2007; I remember the date so well...Mind you, by the time we were close. Very close. We spent any time we could with each other, both in and out of game.Anyways, she was involved in this accident. She got hit on the driver's side of her car by a drunk driver. I saw her at the hospital for the first time after the accident, she wasn't conscious and the nurses told me to expect the worse. She fought. I know she did, she was there for 4 days, but they couldn't help her... She was pronounced dead on the 30th.The driver pleaded guilty to DUI and vehicular manslaughter, but honestly that was bittersweet to me. To this day it just hurts me in a personal way to look at pictures I have us together in real life and then the screenshots I have saved away on my computer of us in-game together, too. She's gone from my life, and that I have came to terms with, but... I still have that bird and my shaman. Both mean so much to me now it's hard to explain. I think the term 'epic' is far to shallow to describe it, but it's definitely my most prized possession in-game. Every time I look at them, the bird and my shaman, I cry. So he's staying at 69, and that bird is staying in his backpack... But yeah. It's hard to look back.
The most epic piece of loot I have received would be Blessed Legplates of Undead Slaying from my one and only rare spawn kill under the Scourge Invasion.
The most "epic" item I have received was a random pick pocket - Worn Troll Dice. So, I am running around the Fjord pick pocketing mobs, and then killing them, and I see these dice end up in my bag and I am like - wtf? Dice? Needless to say, I spent some time just sitting there rolling the dice and then got back to mob destruction. Now I play with the dice while waiting for dungeon and raid groups to get together and buff up... better than just standing there and dancing.
So finally get enough honor around to get my Merc. Glad Gavel on my prot pally, throw 40 spell dmg on it and all is well and good, then a buddy a' mine is like LFpally tank for ZA. a'course I say yes. Amani Punisher drop, I get it, put 40 spell power on it and call it a night. Next day, in Hjyal, Hammer of Judgement put 40 spell power on that. so 2 days, and 900g in enchants later, I finally have the last pally tanking wpn I will ever need.then 3.0 decides to come out that tuesday.Hammer of Judgement, In all it's pink swirly goodness, get's replaced with King's Defender
Hmmm... My Tiny Emerald Whelpling. I spent a good two weeks farming that thing, and was so happy when I finally got it. And then my guild complained about how I have too many minipets and how they were tired of looking after my zoo all the time.
Well I have several "grand loot"-moments, however I think I'll pick the most recent one:In the two last weeks before the expansion, my raid group got their first and second kill on Archimonde in CoT Mount Hyjal. It is a feat I'm proud of even despite the massive raid nerfs (I mean that fight is all about flawless team work, and the nerf didn't change that). And as an added bonus on the very last try before we reached our time limit, in the last week before WotLK release, we finally got him again and he dropped a Cowl of Absolution for me, probably the sweetest looking piece of armor I've ever owned and a nice hat for leveling all the way to 80. I was quite happy.
All things considered, the most epic piece of loot ever looted by the likes of man kind has to be a world drop Taran Icebreaker. The most epic mace of all time. Plus, it dropped on my warrior. I was just fooling around in Azshara, killing naga. All of a sudden it popped up on the loot list. I screamed. I took my picture with the computer. I deleted my Whirlwind Warhammer! And then, I won some battlegrounds. I did it up with all the fixin's like Crusader and some nice weight stones. It still resides in my bank. Right next to my first mount, first blue (Smite's Reaver) and my first piece of Outland gear (Rage Reaver). After playing since 2004, it felt like my just deserts.
The next epic drop for me, personally, would be one of the drake pets from the Oracles.
needless to say...the best drop i ever gotten was my freakin illidan blade on my warrior...i was Main tank in BT and only 4 people were still alive in the group, the best battle follows the best drops...we had me as main tank, a priest, a druid cat DPS, and a mage left. Illidan was down to 12000 life left when our healer ran out of mana..so they focused all the healing on me and the mage died (sad) with me as tanking and the druid started healing...by the time illidan was down to like..4K health u see the druid starting to spam moonfire at illidan...now down to 2K and our priest died...druid otu of mana...and i pop on last stand, Shield Wall, and Figurine - Empyrean Tortoise and killed Illidan! so sweet...well druid got the last hit but still pretty awsome...That was the luckiest day since the rogue disconnected after he got killed so he didnt roll for illidan main hand blade! so i rolled it and won with only 80/100 (something like that) now see me running around stormwind with Bulwark of Azzinoth and illidan main hand...so awsome...well wish i win the mount..since i didnt get my ZAM bear in time...
My most epic loot was just recently, when i was leveling in the Borean Tundra trying to complete the quest achievement. I was on vent with my buddies telling them about how I was just about to finish the achievement. After I was done my excited rant my friend Mike said "Geddeh, NOBODY CARES!" We all laughed and I went to loot one of the robots I had just killed. When the loot box opened I looked over the items and saw http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=36812. I couldn't stop laughing. Now I keep one in my bag so if I see something completely useless in General Chat I can just link it for a few laughs. =3
Gut Ripper, :P in zul' farak and and everyone was like saying you don't need it your just going to sell it blabla , and this is the funny thing i accually tought i pressed greed cause i don't need it, but i accidently pressed need well i was so happy and they kicked me out of the party so WOwhead ! you better give me this card or a boost through zul' farak ;)
After running about 30 Karazhan's, 10 Serpentshrine Caverns, 5 Black Temple's, 6 Mount Hyjal's and countless Heroic Mechenaar's with Blue Tanking sword (from the Shattered Sun Offensive) the loot-guards finnaly awarded me with the Mallet of Tides. Was a very epic moment, since my whole guild already knew how long I was searching for it. Didn't even have to bid/roll for it. Was just instantly awarded to me. *cheers*
Last night I got my Red Sword of Courage from Utgarde Pinnacle! The first time we tried to do this with an all-guild group, and we got the gauntlet first try. No drop compares to how epic that was. :D
