There are visual bugs, such as rapid flashing textures causing triggers for epilepsy in this game since Pandaria Remix went live, and the only work-around is to play on low settings. Why should I purposefully make my game look like 2004 because the graphics are broken? It has nothing to do with addons, this is at the base level game, with top of the line graphics cards fully updated.
No lie, I was one of those guys trying everything that's even listed in this article. And no, I can't enjoy WoW without some Addons or WeakAuras.Instead of finger-pointing at Blizzard developers, Addons, WeakAuras, or me for needing them, I bought a 7800X3D for my wife and me.Problem solved.
The Addon TellMeWhen was causing me issues too. I turned off addons 1 by 1 and found it to be this, for me anyway. I just made my screen jump a lot as if it lagged for a split screen. I noticed mostly when walking, running or using classic flight mode. I tried adjusting all the graphics settings but none of them fixed this particular stuttering thing. Turned off TMW and now things don't stutter anymore.
Even by normal internet comments section standards, the number of people here who clearly haven't read & understood even the shortest info links from the article is pretty impressive...I'd seen the tweet & first video, but missed the follow ons. Thanks for highlighting this stuff wowhead - highlighting workarounds is better for players & increases the pressure on Blizzard to fix some really embarrassing & problematic engine problems.
I only get freezes in the raid after a couple of hours of raiding. The thing is, the freeze I had last time happened at the exact same time as several other players. I also don't use weak aura's, something thats eluded to several times in this post. Then after the raid, when I hearth back to dornogal I am guaranteed to have a big freeze. To me this just feels like a memory leak somewhere causing issues. But its also odd that we had 8 people freeze at the same time (for varying durations from just a second or 2 to just straight up 10 seconds)
Find reducing my render scaling from 100% to 80% helps a lot with minimal impact on visuals.
I use WA, Details, Plater and had them set to update between 3-10x per second (282 add-ons in my list that are activated in most situations). I do 25 player raids and no lag (all running all of those add-ons mentioned). The problem with the raid setting is only works when you're in a raid and not a raid group. So if you're doing world boss, it won't automatically set those graphical settings for you. I guess is a good thing I already made an add-on that manages graphical settings (RGS) when you're in a raid group (including world bosses), scenarios/dungeons, or a solo, whatever. Also a good thing that I made a questing add-on that fires a minor function for GROUP_ROSTER_UPDATE and still uses less than 20mb of memory (RQE).
Blizzard: - "Guilds are trivializing raid bosses mechanichs by making and using weak auras. What can we do to handle this?"First option: "Lets make it so debuffs can't be tracked by addons and called them private auras" - Raiders just spam a chat message for the weak aura to "read" and handle the mechanic.New option: "Lets create a "issue" with models and cause weak auras to kill fps of raiders so they stop using it "
