I get that Blizz wants people to participate in all content, but Blizz needs to get that a lot of people don't really want to. They have specialized each individual system (pvp/raid/m+) so much that many have found niches. Expecting to undo that culture shift and have people be super ok with it is like the flying thing. They need to do some work to find better solutions. Also, these people who just 'run stuff for fun'- awesome. Continue to do so. Other people getting gear will not affect you running stuff for fun. Actually- run stuff for fun and then pass all your gear to others who are there for it. Everybody wins!
It is funny how (deliberately) forgetful and selfish some players are, especially bad ones. All BFA PVPers had to spam Mythics like crazy to get proper gear and amass gold to buy various Raid boss kills to acquire broken PVP trinkets like Drest,Claw,Cosmic etc to not feel useless in competitive PVP which is btw usually the player base with lower amount of time available. For first time after many gears PVPers arent forced to PVE and that obviously annoys many. How many 1 macro spamming players were getting dressed through BFA raiding (except for Mythic which truly needs skill) and storming BGs laughing at PVPers whilst getting equal pvp gear required 2400 rating cuz even duelist gear was Garbage compared to Mythic+ loot. And 2400 rating isn't just spamming a macro. It needs skill, forethinking, planning and much much more effort.I was taking 2100 duelist gear and scrapped immediately because had better alternative from easy HC kills or middle ranked Mythic+ dungs. If you are good go get Mythic Raid kills and gear up, what's your problem? You were just used spamming 8-10 lvl keys or heroic raid after 2-3 weeks overgearing whilst PVPers had abandoned BGs completely and running Mythic+ playing with bots over hours to be able to compete. The only fair adittion would be for the really focused and skilled PVErs like 17,18+ to get some higher ilvl choices or Mythic raiders to have one more loot from bosses. But praise the lord leave PVP alone for once.Noone forces you to play it since versa isnt good but for tanks, sub rogues to stack it up.It is absurd hearing people who cant defeat normal raid or +9 keys to want equal gear with a 2400 elite PVPer.Are we serious?
The majority of my useful gear in BFA came from the two weekly caches. This is still the case in SL, with the great vault being my source of upgrades after the season start. I don't have much hope of seeing a piece of loot, let alone a useful one, from my regular daily activities. H+ Raiding and M+ *can* give me useful upgrades. They exist and knowing they exist is a pretty good feeling. However I don't have high hopes of obtaining them through those activities. Instead I'm just here kinda praying the great vault is kind to me on reset day. Everything I do throughout the week is meaningless in and of itself, it's all for feeding the great vault and collecting it's rewards after reset. That doesn't feel particularly good. Knowing that, yes, you are running a +14 or full clearing the Heroic raid for loot but the awesome rewards from those accomplishments are on layaway. You get them at reset not when you complete the associated activities. It's a complex problem but I'm not wholly unhappy with how loot has worked in SL. While it does feel like I'm seeing useful gear only once a week from the great vault at reset, I'm pretty happy with the options and ultimately the rewards I am able to collect.
5 players are in a m+ run that all have had the same odds every week . if you think the overall team gear is important , then multiply the odds and find that the party has gotten lucky enough to push some kind of affix hell when 1 person got good vault loot . there are several vault resets between Grievous or necrotic weeks - healer/tank and seamlessness of utility all might tend to regulate the push difficulty on those weeks & the odds that the healer has gotten 1 good vault since any most recent grievous week , the odds that the tank has gotten 1 good vault since last necrotic week , and the odds that 1 of 3 dps have become more flexible , all make it worth doing your m+ even if you think you are 'punished' by it LOL . it has a pace that takes many weeks to really 'fill out' a roster , just like a lot of content . it doesn't have to saturate you with the best secondary stats on the highest ilvl you get every time , to lead to growththe door is open to the meta game of mutual buff sharing in lieu of 5 shining star BIS geared strangers . judgment of the arbiter . 4x ocarina stats . a bunch of conduits play to this too . they will always give the party more advantage than 1 player's weapon .
I think the PvP gearing is in a great place at the moment. With that you've got a base item in each slot in 9 weeks with the following assumptions:
What i want to see:Adjusting SL to be on pair with Legion/Bfa :Not in time runs have to give as much loot as timed runs. (<-Prevents leaver in your keys)Bonusroll need to get back into the game <-(Many people only get loot through this because of personal loot)Titanforging needs to get polished <-(No Forging on weapons and rings) Vault loot needs to give you up to two pieces ATM as a main m+ player i do not enjoy gettin a rating of 1600 only to get a heroic version of that dagger
This is the reason why I took a break from the game and not coming back until they do something about it.It's insulting.
Great vault is big issue as well. It was announced as a system that should help with RNG, but was instead implemented as massive grind system for no reason other than to boost play time metrics. If great vault had 3 choices by default (just do 1 M+ key or 3 raid bosses per week and get 3 loot choices), then it would be ok. Current absurd requirements of 10 keys/10 bosses for extra loot choices should be removed.
I hate players with that "do stuff for fun, the rest will come" mentality. Dude, don't dictate others how they shall have fun with the game, people are different, its totally fine if you are a casu focusing on story on all that stuff. If you have fun with the game, go play the game, don't even bother come here :). Go have fun with your friends playing the game.
Remember that youtuber who made a 2-3-video rant about gearing in pvp through m+?Remember how everyone agreed with him like sheep?Doesn't look that good now, does it?Sometimes people are dumb.
Imagine playing a pve oriented game and the jest way to achieve end game gear is... pvp.Imagine also that your BIS in term of stat are easier to get in pvp. And that the best PVE trinket is the PVP trinket.Blizzard has faited, the community will quit the game in 2 months.
I don't understand who the dev was that pushed so hard to be a jerk about loot going forward, and why that person or team didn't talk to the "we're making it easier for alts" team to understand that higher amounts of loot funnels are what make alts a part of the game you want to do. It's total garbage to have stingy loot but hey you can have 12 alts easy now, they're just going to all be terrible at anything but heroic 5-mans for a month or two, hope that's what you were asking for! They never seem to figure out the gating to be something that's customer friendly. I vaguely feel like someone's running a social experiment to see if they can ruin the best expansion in a few expansions just for kicks and see how much garbage we'll tolerate but who knows. Some idiot with a spreadsheet can ruin everything if they try hard enough.
