I don’t think anybody would actually want to see Blizzard get in an arms race with 3rd party overlay developers. They got carried away with it once in Sepulcher and created a raid hard enough to break RTWF (not just for limit, but for many). Blizzard creating a raid that would be challenging for RTWF raiders equipped with overlays would be a massive detriment to regular raiding that simple numbers nerfs post RTWF wouldn’t solve.

Without scripting variable incounters so boss incounters vary based on random options or intelligent AI problem solving, boss incounters will remain easily completed without overlays explaining where to go or stand in real time. The overlays were solving a problem that doesn't exist.

Anyone upset by this does not remember the augmented reality mod that allowed you to "draw" on the actual environment. THAT made raiding way to easy.

Time to ban dps meters. You can read the numbers on the screen and make an educated guess, just like diablo. Much more fun. Time to save people from themselves.
nop ppl they are changing the file stream, so it will be filled after combat is over - this will break live logging completely, since the only other way is reading ram... and now this, is cheating. xd
Lot of short-sighted takes thinking preventing this sort of thing is bad. The existence of it creates an unwinnable arms race between encounter design and addon/overlay development.
Why does this even need clarification? This has never been acceptable behaviour.
Did people honestly think the overlay would have made it to live?They stopped it in Wrath from the AVR addon and changed the terms of use exactly for that reason. Even more recently from Legion. They are against it happening, so there is no shock that they weren’t going to allow it to happen.
