Oh, it doesn't actually look very impressive, at all.I'm hoping there's going to be more to it than smooth shadows? The technology is so much more than this. So far, I prefer Quake RTX lmao.
lol shadow... i always turned it off in game.. just seems not matter
Let em do it one piece at a time, going full RTX would require a lot of work I imagine as well and at this point in time is hardly worth the huge performance hit one would experience. Cards that are able to pull all of that off easily are just not mainstream yet.
Cool I guess, I wouldn't give up frames for it though.
Well, all I see is blurry shadows but I guess its better than nothing? It is still beta so that's an excuse that can be hung on to (for the time being...) But all in all, Wow was never meant to be a graphic intense game in the first place and I'm pretty indifferent on the outcome of this anyways.
Why waste time showcasing this with images rather than video? Was it not obvious that pictures wouldn't do this topic justice? Most people aren't even concerned about how it looks, but what the performance drops are currently.
yeah I've seen some ray tracing where there is a noticeable difference and it's a huge improvement. The only difference I see are between old zones that haven't been updated and newer zones that just have better details.
Wow. Anti-aliasing shadows. Woopee.
blurry shadows? Maybe the spell effects will look better or something who knows? Rau tracing, what a bust. DLSS support would be better, unless it already supports it.
You truly have to be blind not to see more realistic and more detailed shadows. Just look at characters, where even their hair casts appropriate shadow on the faces.Performance hit, on the other hand, is heavy... Now one can dream that we will get raytraced lightning too and a new generation of GPU's which can actually reasonably deal with it.
How to tell if your Graphic card supports DXR 1.1?
We want more screenshots and a video !
well....i can only see this in pics cuz my grandpa pc is old abd cant take all this new s**t .... /cry in silence
This old and tired game engine can handle it? 🤔
The screen shots here are all really bad comparisons of what RTX actually does. Look for shots of characters faces, or areas with more pointed lights and not just a bunch of pictures with a single light source (the sun). There are tons of better pictures on twitter you can find comparing RTX on to off.
TIL how shadows work. Lol. Think this is a nice step forward, assuming sufficient hardware to not see massive frame drops. Love seeing how graphics evolve over time. I just wish I could pay somebody to go back and update all the old zones...
Minecraft looks better with RTX on than this. Very disappointed that this is what it's likely to look like. Good thing is that there's no reason to rush out and buy an RTX card with these results!
