On the last picture the tree shadow goes from being very detailed to looking really cloudy... Overall in most cases you have to play "spot the difference" and in few it's either worse or barely better. It seems like ray tracing isn't going to be a thing for WoW which is a shame. WoW isn't that demanding and I was hoping that ray tracing will improve it quite a bit.
Can't wait to be able to afford a graphics card for this in a few years ;; I know a lot of people are saying they don't notice anything, but I do. It's probably because I'm an artist and this is something someone like me would notice? But, WoW's shadows have always bothered the crap out of me, they're beyond annoying and unrealistic. This won't be perfect, I'm sure, but I welcome it. Just some depth of shadows and such, it makes the game look so much nicer! Especially on player characters, they look really terribly flat in the face a lot of the time, let alone other parts. I don't understand people complaining of, like, going from 80fps to 30fps? It's not like your eyes can tell much of a difference, if at all? Movies are apparently only like 24fps, and tv is around 30fps. Do yall complain about movies? I truly do not understand complaining about something you literally (most likely, cause idk maybe some people have hawk eyes and time moves slower and they have just these freaking robot brains? lmao) can't see?Is the problem that it may mean the framerate going down during gameplay with lots of particles? Personally, I switch to lower settings when doing anything graphics intense and serious, like raiding and such, because it's definitely a 'better safe than sorry' thing when raiding at higher levels. But I can't imagine that's a huge sacrifice, seeing as you're paying attention to gameplay and mechanics, not how good the game looks. Unless you're playing at the lowest graphics possible, I doubt even most people watching streams would notice, either, re: streamers probably wanting their streams to look good.Maybe I'm just talking outta my ass. But, seems silly to complain about something you don't even need to utilize if you don't want to....
Ray Tracing and heavily stylised games rarely go well together. Minecraft is like the only non-photo realistic game I've seen managing to get it right.
you can see the most differences at bastion, running rtx on in the fields of bastion with max graphics you can see pretty much the difference. Shadows of the non targeteable decor birds flying can be seen on the ground, the shadows are a bit more realistic in terms of the light source and all. However, this comes at a huge expense on performance, in my case with a rtx 2060 running with a r5 3600x overclocked processor, i saw it go from 90~100ish fps at max graphics,(number then on the slide bar in graphic settings) to 40~ish same settings but rtx on. My personal verdict, is that its not worth it. the change in graphic terms is not that much and for the expense of more than half the fps it isn't worth it. Right now, playing at the max graphics settings with rtx off is enough to have good fps and really awesome graphics.
LOL What a joke. Just use CMAA post processing AA and it looks just as good as this "ray tracing."
