Hot take, if this is meant to be the LFR "replacement" then remove LFR and merge Heroic and Normal into 1.There is absolutely no reason to have five difficulties. Two is more than enough for 99% of MMOs, three is a push but acceptable. Also make the new Normal / Heroic mode able to be queued.Unless you're bleeding edge ahead of the curve tier player (ie about 1% of players if that) there's no need to have to manually matchmake. Other MMOs do it fine.
Another issue with LFR is due to the staggered release, it can take a month to see the whole story. And the dungeon is broken up weird. In an extreme example, LFR Amirdrassil starts with Gnarlroot and Igira...and then Smolderon. So later you're hearing voice lines from something you killed a week ago.
I imagine this will be lfr level content with Bots like in follower dungeons. My hope is that this will replace lfr and give heroic dungeon level loot so that overall item level inflation can be lower across the expansion
I welcome this! Often I would want to take it all in, explore and just stop to witness the story unfolding, but LFR's gogogo mentality doesn't serve that well. Not to mention I mostly get added to an on-going raid, meaning I'm experiencing the raid events and bosses in the wrong order.
Huge W. Few pointers;1) Remove LFR2) Let 'Story' drop LFR level loot3) bi-weekly lockout (same time the current World Quests reset midweek)Let's do this.
hopefully, this is challenging and offers hc level rewards, and solves the issue of players wanting to use their game time to play and get gear but getting declined from raids because they don't log in every day
I am happy to see that Blizzard finally learn and understand that the raid format in the way it is right now is a terrible way of telling story because of how the bosses are just throwing non sense randome villain lines at you and just die without any interesting interactions.I hope that the more the time pass, the less raids gets evolved in the main story so we can finally enjoy antagonist that survive longer than : pacth arrive, boss arrive, boss put in raid, boss die...
LFR IS the story mode... Just remove LFR and add the same rewards into story
Getting to actually pay attention to the story instead of taking pains to ignore chat and hope to god they actually do all the phases (instead of speedrunning them so hard that they skip) so you actually get to SEE the dialogue later after all the fights are over... hell yeah.I genuinely prefer the LFR runs where people wipe a bunch of times over the ones where it's one-shot, just because at least with repeat attempts I get a chance to actually see what I'm looking at. Story mode is a great idea. I don't need to get loot from it and I don't think it needs to award loot beyond, perhaps, cosmetics. Gear is for progressing in strength so you can do harder content.
Ever since they introduced Follower Dungeons I had hoped this was the next step in that direction. Follower dungeons have been a great addition, as it helped me join in and knock out a quick dungeon quest for my meta achievement without having to wait in the queue. I didnt care about loot and could step away mid dungeon to tackle with something outside the game. Having an option like that for raids will also be great if I am there for more than just what loot may or may not drop. It probably wont fill out the vault though and I think that is a fair compromise to keep LFR still viable in a way.
This is awesome. It is what LFR was intended to be, but that has changed so much over the years. Now its just another zerg fest. I hope the any loot or rewards are trivial. Its the loot that always messes things up. People will find a way to farm it. And for those that complain that no one will do the mode with no loot. Well, the people who actually want the story will...
Please turn the current LFR into this "Story" mode, let Normal be queued like LFR was, and leave Heroic and Mythic alone. There is zero reason for Normal and Heroic to exist as separate modes atm. I'm old enough to remember when we just had Normal and Heroic. During Siege of Orgrimmar, they renamed Heroic into "Mythic" and they renamed Normal into "Heroic." We don't need difficulty inflation like Diablo 3.Blizzard please.
