Honestly looks ten times cooler in-game than shown in the above link. Blizz did a great job on this one, imo. Got it today and absolutely loving it.
Similar to the Headless Horseman's mount http://www.cuckhead.com/spell=48025#comments in that it scales with your riding skill. I.E if you're a level 20, you can have this mount as a normal riding mount. Once you get higher riding skills, the speeds increase. Also, once you get the flying skill, it will be a flying mount as well. :D
Best part; It's bind-to-account, so you really never have to buy a mount again, if you so choose.
Think it'd be worth the $25. Looks epic as well :P

I purchased it as soon as I saw it and it feels very cheap to own.

I think the worst thing is that low level characters will be using this as their leveling mount. You'll see level 20 characters riding this here and there.

Things you should know before purchasing:

From Blizzard's FAQ regarding the star pony's speed: "Much like the Headless Horseman's mount from the Hallow's End event, the Celestial Steed will automatically upgrade in speed as the player advances in Riding skill. For example, the Celestial Steed will run at normal ground speed if the character knows Apprentice Riding, and epic ground speed with Journeyman Riding. The mount will be able to fly at normal flight speed with Expert Riding, and at epic flight speed with Artisan Riding. In addition, if the character has a 310%-speed flying mount in his or her collection, the Celestial Steed will also fly at 310% speed."

You can get the mount on any character you currently have or create in the future.

The look of the star pony will change drastically depending on your particle density settings and other visual options, more so than other mounts, for obvious reasons.

Because this mount is transparent, you will be able to see your legs/dress/cloak through the pony's model. A small point, but one most people wouldn't consider, and I know it would irk me.

If you want this mount to stand out in a crowd or to show off with (lets be honest here), think twice, because as of the first day it already looks like one in ten mounts in Dalaran are these star ponies. Sure, they stand out, but they aren't exactly special.

I just wanted to mention that the mount has 1 bug that I have noticed.. When you run uphill/downhill the mount does not move with the terrain.. it will keep facing straight forward anyways..

A few things about this mount...

I bought it as a Shadow Priest hoping I would be able to make it all purple as we are prone to do, but only the armor on his head and saddle will gain the Shadowform transparency.

The mount also flaps it's wings and "flies" when ever you try to swim with it in water.

The mail you get this in..I know it's sent to every character on the account, and on every character to-be created, but what happens after the 29 days run out on the mail? Do they send another to the character if you didnt pick it up in time?

Guys, this is a pretty serious and well made question. It is answered above, but it has not been confirmed, yet.
Please stop downrating this guy (I think it's a guy, due to it's vulgar speech, correct me, if I'm wrong..) until the 30 days have passed.

You can create a test-character to delete it in about 30 days, when you opened your mailbox again.

However, I think nobody would refrain from opening the mailbox on every character, since it's just one chance and a pretty neat mount.

It's 161g for all four mounts before faction discounts.

60% land mount = 1g
100% land mount = 10g
150% flying mount = 50g
280% flying mount = 100g

On your first toon, with no outside help, this might actually help you while leveling. But this is hardly any money to anyone at max level.

I bought TRH, and I just looove the people QQing about it, because their tears are the sweetest thing in the world for me.

I work for my money, and therefore I can do with it what I want, I spend it every month so I can run around with my pixel-mage in a pixel-Azeroth, and now I spend some more money to have him ride on a pixel-horse from space.

So I take my TRH and run around in Dala, just for having people rage at me, so I can have a laugh. Some people are only jealous because they don't have enough money to spend it on useless things, while others try to be rational in a stupid way. "I spend money to hit my head against the wall, over and over again, until I pass out. But I would NEVER pay money to hit my head against that other wall. Because that would be like...totally retarded." It's the same. You pay money for pixels, but you won't pay money for pixels.

It was the same when people insulted me for "waisting my time" when I got my violet Proto on the first day possible. I did it beacause I can.

So either I am wasting my money, or I am wasting my time, for which I have to pay money. In the end the servers will shut down and nobody will have anything anymore. And I don't think there are many people left who play WoW out of fun...

I, personally, enjoy the concept of this mount. It allows all forms of travel, if that character possesses the means for said travel.
You don't really have to buy the other mounts, unless you want the achievement, variety, and so on. Makes it great for saving up the money to focus just on the riding skills, or your professions.

Overall, my only complaint about this mount is that the color and style of the mount tends to 'dull' after a while. By dull, I mean that it just doesn't look cool after so many re-mounts and with nearly the whole server having them. But, that's why they have other mounts, right? =P

Anyway, just wanted to voice my opinion about how awesome the utility of this mount was.

wadark, it's not 300g.

Here's the numbers.

Mount cost, assuming one of each rank:
161g per character, with no rep discounts.
8050g if you use all 50 character slots.

Mount training:
5243g 20s per character, with full rep discounts.
262,160g if you use all 50 character slots.

Now let's get into the subject of 'free mounts'.
Getting a free epic flying mount is ridiculously easy, hit 80 and pug H. Culling, you're nearly guaranteed to see a Bronze Drake these days. Don't want to hit 80 without an epic flying mount? Ok, pick up a regular flyer, go do your Netherwing dailies, you get a free drake. That's 100g off the money you'd save, so assuming each character spends 61 gold on mounts is entirely reasonable. That means you're spending 3050g on mounts if you use all 50 character slots.
What about the loaner flying mount? Well, if you're willing to stomach it, you can level through Northrend to 77 without flying, pick up a loaner in Storm Peaks for free, and spend only 11 gold on mounts, or 550 for every character.
What about free epic ground mounts? Farm a Deathcharger, a Z'G mount, the hawkstrider from Magister's and you're down to 1g/char, or 50g total.

In contrast, no matter what crazy tricks you play with free mounts and such, you will always pay 5243g, 20s per character for training. Assuming full rep discounts, which you probably won't have at the time you're buying regular ground and epic ground mounts, and very well may not have when you pick up your flying. You're saving less than 1/30th of your training in mount money.

As of 4.0.1, with flying mount speed scaling, it's only 61g total for mounts per character with no rep discounts. Training, on the other hand, goes up to 9243g per character with full rep discounts. The training costs aren't even factoring in the Flight Master's License or Cold Weather Flying training.

It definitely adds up, but the exchange rate is pretty lousy. Buy the mount if you like it, not because it's going to save you gold, because in the long run? It's saving you less than 10 dailies/character.

I've heard some people say they didn't like the mount when it ran on the ground because the legs look too "spindly." While it is true that the torso for the horse is thicker than other horse mounts in the game, this was necessary to accommodate the wings, which need a place to sprout out from. Maybe now that this mount has been designed, Paladins and Warlocks will get winged versions of their class mounts.

Fair enough if it was some kind of game breaking item (eg legendary item or whatever) but its not it's a mount... I could just as easily argue "Oh my god Blizzard are selling WoW Mousemats! I now own this mount and I just want to say "It is Beautiful!".

I understand that some people will not or cannot afford to pay $25.00 for an ingame item such as this...
But for those who can afford it and want to own this horse it is very much worth the price.

Here are three reasons why it's worth it.

1. Every toon you have now and every toon you will ever create on any realm will be proud owners of this mount.
2.You can use it from level 20-80 and it even scales to epic flying speed.
3.It's simply beautiful and unique.

Here are some of the beautiful effects that this mount has.

1. It has animated stars surrounding it.
2. The armor is swirling with Twisting Nether effects.
3. It has a unique sound both on the ground and in the air.
4. It seems to have a slow fall effect which is for looks only and does not absorb any damage.

People who can't buy it or just refuse to buy it have no right to judge or make rude gestures toward those of us who do. My personal opinion to all is, if you want it, go for it, you wont regret it at all. If you dont want it, please refrain from being rude and enjoy riding whatever mounts you do have.

I truly hope that Blizzard continues to offer items like this in the store.

I think something on my mage is bugged, as an aside. She's level 63, just bought 225 riding skill so she can fly in Outland now (I guess that changed some time back when I wasn't playing for a bit as I remember flying and epic flying both requiring level 70), and while the steed does indeed fly at 150% for her, the tooltip says it's only 60% on the ground. I have a Swift White Steed in my inventory that I've been using, so I know that can't be the case... unless the item is bugged. Has anyone else seen this?

Saves you 128g80s - 161g per toon you level (depending on your reputation level). For those who like to level multiple toons, this is worth getting. For a first time player, it might even be worth it as that's a decent amount of gold at 60.

Apprentice Mount: 80s - 1g
Journeyman Mount: 8g - 10g
Expert Mount: 40g - 50g
Artisan Mount: 80g - 100g

I haven't tested this with the Steed yet but with pets which are mailed to you for various reasons the timers on the mail have still been at 29 days on a couple of occasions when I have forgotten to go and get the on long-forgotten alts up to about 3 months after they were sent.

If you want a bit of technical underground, these items are sent to you the moment your character first access mailbox after the moment you became eligible for receiving an item. Depends on the server load and network delays, it could or could not appear in your mailbox when it open ("access" and "open" is two different events, if you don't know it yet).
Therefore, if you didn't accessed mailbox for a long time (suspended account, or just didn't used a char for example), these items will not be sent to these characters in first place. That's what you perseive as 29 days timer.

Seriously, knowing that all my alts are perfectly set now that they won't need to buy fliers/epic fliers, or that my newer alts wont even have to buy regular/epic land mounts? It should be noted that this mount does NOT count toward the Mountain o' Mounts achievement, so if you're hoping to buy it for that one last mount you'll be disappointed.

Otherwise...looks amazing in game...a mount for all current and future toons...and the ability to watch people go from normal to turbo-nerd rage in 3.5 seconds...what more could you ask for?

I was on the day it came out, thought about getting, then at TB saw a lvl 80 BE on one an a lvl 20 tauren rode up next to them on one... lost alot of "wow" (sic) factor right there...
But in defense of those who want to buy it an not earn it, why not? I have a Swift Zhevra mount that I got by sponsoring a new account holder... no great effort there either, and it is much more rare now... "Remember the SunWell..."

This steed not only scales to your riding level; it also scales to your location. If you summon in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, or Dalaran you will summon as a ground mount. If you summon in Outlands or Northrend you will summon as a flying mount. To my knowledge this is the only mount in the game with this feature (other than a couple extremely rare holiday mounts). Since I bind my mounts to my middle mouse button, this saves me the burden of having to mess with my bindings/Action Bars when I change locations.

Point 2, its not that unique anymore, I see tons of them, I really do like the scaling aspect of the mount but just wish that A) the CEO had better ethics and B) that it came in Black Stallion and White Unicorn styles as well, all the glitter is just a little too "My Little Mounty". I think this mount is very pretty.
I also think any character that is male and larger than a blood elf looks completely stupid riding it. It's got very feminine features and some hulking Tauren looks about as lame mounted up on it as a Tauren on a Hawkstrider. Other than that, it's awesome and I'll be buying it soon. ;)

Has anyone else had the issue of this not scaling correctly to your riding skill?

I'm currently logged on my Warlock, who has her Dreadsteed, and the skill to use it, yet my Celestial is only scaling to 60% Ground, not 100%, like the Dreadsteed is.

It's not a huge issue, just a matter of inconvenience, really, and I'm just wondering if anyone else is having, or has had this issue.

I'm having the same problem with mine as well. The problem seems to be when you train the Expert Riding skill. Before Expert it is 100% speed and just as soon as I trained expert, down to 60% ground.

Yes like many i also have this mount however i was disappointed somewhat because i noticed that if u use it as a ground mount in areas that flying mounts can be used then it downgrades from 100% riding to 60% riding.. when submitted a ticket the GM at first said it was a bug then said because my lvl 77 mage didnt have epic flying then it would stay at 60% ground speed and that it was working as intended which is silly since its also a ground mount and should be 100% on the ground still regardless weather it can fly or not and the whole point of me getting this mount was so i didnt have to swap between mounts and yet i still have to switch between this and my Frostwolf Howler

As of patch 3.3.5 it seems this mount has been fixed it can now run up and down hills like any normal mount and seems to be bigger on taurens. I like it better like this feels more "real".
It may have been fixed earlier tho i havnt rode on it for a few weeks.

Interesting little glitch I've found with this mount...

If you recieve the In-Game Mail with the Mount attached and retrieve/use this mount in Dalaran without ever flying with it (i.e. Use it as a land mount from the mailbox to the Dalaran "Landing Pad" and try to fly out from Dalaran)... it wont fly!

You'll have to use and alternative flying mount to move to an area outside of Dalaran and use the Celestial Steed to fly back in before you can continue to use it to leave Dalaran in the future...

I can verify that if you leave it in your mailbox, it will stay at a 29 day expiration time no matter how much time lapses. I got on one of my alts when I first bought this a a month or so ago to check if it was in the mail, which it was. Then last week I got back on the same alt and it was still in the mail box with a 29 day expiration date.

I have no idea why anyone likes this mount. Quite simply, I believe it to be one of the dumdest mounts in the game, especially for Tauren. Anything more than free is FAR too much to pay for this mount.

Honestly, yeah its kinda cool that you buy a mount with real money, but I hate it, you might wonder why well one of the reason some people play this game is for the feeling of accomplishment kind of like changing the mounting level from 40 to 20 would i mind 35 no but anything lower then that is 2 easy like its not that hard to get to 40 specially with dungeon finder now a lot of those skills like ghostwolf and aspect of the cheetah are almost pointless destroy 29, 39 battlegrounds people can chase u down in those battlegrounds so yeah i think this mount is cool but if i find it ruins the feeling of earning Your mount 25 is next to nothing i personally think it should be 200 be a lot cooler then and your mount set for life so its not like it would be a loss and you could at least feel like u earn it and less people would buy it so it would be alot cooler to have it place change the mount constantly so that only some people in the game would have it

As of 4.0.1 It would appear that if you mount up in Dalaran on this mount then run to Krasus Landing you can immediately fly without remounting. The same is true in reverse, if you mount up in krasus landing and go into dalaran, as long as your mounts feet are on the ground when the dismount buff goes away your steed turns back into a ground mount without getting you dismounted. 1) Likes to do noise whenever jumping so if you are a happy scout like me it will drive you nuts

2- It's a cool collector's item

4- The little stars that come out of it are cool

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned, this can be mounted underwater even in Northrend. You can then go straight to the surface and take flight without going to land. I find it very useful for mining ore nodes underwater.

By the way, at the Shattering, where you get the epic flying ability grandfathered in for free if you have a 310% mount: Does Not Work for this mount. Yes, it has the capability of going at a 310% speed, but I did not have my epic flying, and still do not, though I do own this mount. Just in case anyone was thinking of buying it to get the free speed increase.

At Cataclysm launch this mount is bugged, flying at 150% in the Eastern Kingdoms, even if you have the 280% riding skill. It flies at 280% for me in Kalimdor. Someone with the 310% riding skill would have to confirm this.

I had a strange bug a few days ago. I was able to mount this steed as a passenger, however not on the horse's back behind its owner. Instead I was standing on its head in a really weird position :X

To clarify about this mount:

It changes depending on riding skill. It can be the following:

60% Ground Mount -- 100% Ground Mount -- 150% Flying Mount + 60% Ground

or 280% Flying + 100% Ground or 310% Flying + 100% Ground.

This mount is delivered via in-game "mail". It is delivered to every character you ever create on
your account; even across servers/realms etc...

The mount if you jump while riding (or fly) makes a "swift" sound, as if moving at light speed.

This used to be my favorite mount when it first came out. It was so universal that I had no need for another mount. But now I hate it when I'm flying on this mount because the constant flapping is annoying. Even as you move foward on this mount, it maintains the in-place-hovering flap noise. This is a fairly new bug, post cata. It's probably a known bug, but I doubt they care. If your looking for a quite, peaceful, and cheap way to get around (maybe while farming for a couple hours) a Swift Yellow Wind Rider will do just fine.

Note: Im mainly talking about alts here. Most mains have better, more awsome looking mounts.

Horses hooves don't bend or move that way unless their ankles are broken. I know you're going to use this model to for Tyrael's Charger and it's going to look just as ridiculous as this steed and Arthas'.

This mount and others that you can buy from the store are definitely worth it weather you are lvl 1 just starting out or lvl 85 and working towards that mount achievement. And yes they level with you, including the Winged Guardian and Tyrael's Charger.

Is it just me or do you guys also find the sound of the wings flapping in flight mode extremely annoying?

I really love my Celestial Steed, it's pretty and fun to ride but flying it for more than a few seconds causes major headaches with that annoying, loud, obnoxious sound barrier breaking, air crushing wing flap noise. I wish Blizzard would make the wing flap sound a little less annoying or they should allow us to exchange it for another pet store mount with less annoying sounds.

What are your thoughts?

Facts about the Celestial Steed:

The mount scales with your riding skill, i.e. 60%/100% ground and 160%/280%/310% flying.
It has the same animations as the Hippogryph flying mounts; running, flying and /mountspecial.
Turns into a 310% flying mount if you already own another 310% mount/buy the Master Riding skill.
Emits sparks from its body, which follows the mount as a trail. Also, if you stand still for a while and then move, there will be a cloud of sparks where you stood. It's pretty neat.
It has a pretty unique /mountspecial sound - a sort of godly (Celestial, if you will) whinny.
When you jump with it it will sound like you taking off with a flying mount. The same sound will occur when you land.
There's a kind of echo added to the sound of the wing flaps when you fly.
Available at BlizzStore (EU - US) for 20 Euro, £17 or $25 depending on where you're located.
Looks like Arthas' mount Invincible, but this one is ethereal.
If you look at its shadow, you only see the horse's armor. It looks pretty fun.
The animation for flying and swimming are identical.
Does, in fact, count toward and its likes.

The unique "sound effect" of the flapping wings sound more like plastic or rubber wings rather than wings as thin as air.
Buyer beware if you are easily annoyed by distracting sounds!

It scales with your riding skill and is usable as a ground and flying mount.
Will ride at 310% speed if you have a 310% mount in your collection.

People who complain about RL-purchased mounts should be equally offended by TCG mounts. Actually, TCG mounts sort of annoy me because Blizzard is encouraging people to gamble on getting the mount (people who don't want to play the TCG but want the mount) and encouraging a ridiculously expensive grey market for TCG mounts. At least with a purchased mount like this, you are definitely getting the mount for $25 and not having to spend hundreds on useless cards without any guarantee of getting anything.
As to those who are concerned about mounts displaying their achievements, it isn't like anyone can buy mounts for specific achievements. This mount doesn't look like the mounts you get for achievements. Also, once another expansion or two come out, those achievement mounts will be easy to get too. Once, getting a Twilight Drake meant something; now it is something one or two 90s can do in four minutes.
Finally, buying an Expedition Yak: 120k gold. Countless hours of in-game gold farming/playing the AH. No serious in-game achievement. Buying the horse: $25. Less than a day's work at minimum wage...

When I bought this mount as of 9/10/2014, I got one in my mail on one of my toons, but could not learn it, saying that it was already known.
I contacted blizzard about this, and they confirmed that buying this mount causes it to automatically show up in your mount list, as well as send you one in the mail.

I will say, however, that this issue did not come up with that Heart of the Aspects mount bought on the same day. This one was not automatically learned and was able to be learned from the item in your mail.

This was posted for anyone who might think to themselves "oh crap did I already have this?" like I did.

In areas where you cannot fly, this mount currently overrides every other mount you may have set into Favorite: no matter what, the Celestial Steed will always be summoned by Summon Random Favorite Mount.

I received this after subscribing to the now defunct World of Warcraft Magazine, which was cancelled after two editions due to low uptake.

Celestial Steed was offered as way of a thank you/apology when it was cancelled. So not everybody who has this bought it off the Blizzard store!

Hi all

I present You small Guide How to start With new Trading Post and how to get Trader's Tender. In new Trading Post You will be able to Buy Mounts, Cosmetics, Battle Pets and maby other think. As well Trader's Tender is the new account-wide Trading Post currency. Event was buged after 3 hours after launch O_o. No one could interact with Collector's Cache and NPC. I log in today and so far is looks all is working Hope will be like that to end :D.

When I fly to Valdrakken City i get auto Quest Tour the Trading Post then do in order:

1. Go to Stormwind City and Press on Collector's Cache ( i had problem to see it due to lot of ppl standing in this place xD ) /way 51.45 72.33, I get from cache 1100 Trader's Tender :D free Mount xD

2. Do 3 things:
- Review the Trading Post Post - press on notice on the right post /way 51.14 71.86
- Speak with Assistant Dilya /way 51.02 70.95
- Speak with Valarian /way 49.35 71.86, behind him is a mount that You can buy using Trader's Tender in this month.

3. Look on Wilder Seabraid inventory to sell, He is located under tent /way 51.11 71.78, place where is most ppl now xD.

4. Finish quest to Tawny Seabraid She is behind Wilder Seabraid under tent /way 51.11 71.78, on his right side.

In total i get 1600 Trader's Tender. To get more Trader's Tender You need to do Activities To find what kind pres LShift+J You will open Traveler's Log, in this place You will see all available Activities to track them press on them LShift+Lmouse. You can see as well how much Travel points You will get for each Activities + What reward You will get. Then every 200 Travel points You will get 100 Trader's Tender, But When You will collect 1000 points You will get mount Ash'adar, Harbinger of Dawn. Then when You hit max pints You will get 500 Trader's Tender + Ash'adar, Harbinger of Dawn.

UPDATE - Now when You reach 1000 point, when You take reward from Collector's Cache point will reset and You will be able to collect more Trader's Tender. That was not tru xD Blizzard Troll me hard xD even on my Video You can see next bar and rewards if you will get more points, i was just going to get some more points and i open Traveler's Log and it is written "You have collected all rewards for this month" Hope they are trolling xD because that means you won't buy everything from the store in the first month.

Activites are all kind and is sap to You what You want to do: PVP, PVE or Quests and others.
