Mystic Rainbowhorn is located in the Ardenweald zone.

To summon this rare someone in the area need to use Great Horn of the Runestag.
It will spawn Rainbowhorn with big hp pull.
Rare will start running around the area. you can see possible map attached to this page Mystic Rainbowhorn

Fight is nothing special, but the rare can drop a reward quest item Runestag Soul.
This quest item is relevant only for Night Fay Covenant players and will give you a Runestag Soulshape form after you turn in the Runestag Soul

Rare is a part of Adventurer of Ardenweald achievement.

Sends out an emote: "<Name> has blown the Great Horn of the Runestag, luring the Mystic Rainbowhorn out into the open."

I had that happen twice during the span of a play session, and each time I hadn't done anything to prompt it. The rare elite was also a no-show both times.

I had the emote spam out in my name, and I had no idea what it meant so I consulted Wowhead. I looked for the Mystic Rainbowhorn rare, and it did indeed spawn... and it most definitely killed me. Easily. After finding my body, I looked for it again but it seemed to despawn.

I hadn't used any item, and definitely didn't have a Great Horn of the Runestag at all, so I think this is a bug.

tl;dr: Didn't have this item, didn't use this item, emote went out, rare was spawned, promptly killed me. Bug.

Edit: Happened again the very next day. Was fighting a mob, and the emote went out randomly. Didn't loot or blow the horn. I'm not going to submit a bug report though, because I figure a rare that is being spawned for free? That's kinda nice. :3

Emote went out saying I had summoned him when I hadn't clicked anything. Others in General were saying they also got the emote with their name in it.
~~Tag appears to be limited to 5 people. We had a raid attack it and only 5 got to loot out of the 22 in raid.~~

Tag issue is fixed, tested 1/12/2020. Everyone should now get loot from hitting this rare.

As of live shadowlands, this rare wanders Ardenweald and does not spawn via the horn. Everything talking about the horn is from Beta. Horn emote must still be active, though.

Twice while leveling, I got the emote randomly that said I had used the Great horn and summoned the Runestag. I did see the stag both times, however it seemed to spawn just north of Tirna Vaal and head south (towards Tirna Vaal). Once it attacked and killed everyone and it seemed to despawn. The second time I saw it run by but lost track of it.

Yesterday, after hitting level 60, I actually found the Great Horn south of Root-Home. It was just off the path, close to where Skuld Vit's cave entrance is. I clicked on the Horn and got the message emote that I had summoned him. I didn't see the Runestag anywhere near the horn, so I quickly took the FP from Root-Home back up to Tirna Vaal (where I had seen the rare 2x when that emote went off previously days prior). The Runestag was there and people had already engaged it (~90% HP remaining). However it turned gray to me and I was unable to loot it.

It is definitely bugged in that it can appear to be summoned without the horn, but I'm not entirely convinced that the horn doesn't summon him either; it seemed like when I clicked the horn and got the emote that he was in fact summoned that way as well. But if that is the case, kinda sucked that I summoned him via Horn and wasn't even able to tag and loot him lol

Just making a quick post consolidating what I've come to realize while camping this guy. It has been confirmed by a few comments here and comments on the Great Horn of the Runestag page that the horn indeed spawns in different locations around the zone now. The horn is exactly how this mob spawns, and it's the horn, not the mob that is on the respawn timer.

Spawn Points For The Rare:

/way 65.5, 29.1

You can indeed wait in this spot and hope someone else hits a horn, but ideally you should have someone look for a horn while you camp. Setting your hearthstone to Tirna Vaal seems to be a good option as the rare seems to stick to the top area of the map. This mob can be reset if pulled too far.

The tag issue on this mob appears to have been fixed as well.

So, tldr :
There is a few spots of horn on the map, across the border.
If someone click the horn, the rare will spawn around 65 28 and will travel along a path.

As of today, only 5 players will loot from it, other will see it grey.

EDIT : It respawned BEFORE one hour so everyone saying 2h to 6h must be wrong, and their realm must have the horn in an unknown spot.

TIP: turn off WM, seems to bug out. Friend of mine couldn't see it while I could, so he turned off WM and then he saw the horn...

Found one at 67.79, 54.84

Not sure if this is new spot, but I thought I'd include it here just incase.

It's at the end of the peer over a small lake in Tirna Noch.

Joined a raid to search for it, here what happened:

1. Found the horn around 67,54
2. The spawn was at around 65,29
3. All raid was able to tag it
4. All who were Night Fae did get the quest drop (so that confirms 100%?)
5. Some who were not Night Fae with us didn't get the drop

Searched off and on for this horn whenever I was in the area over the past few weeks, no luck.
Searched for raids grinding it, found none.
Decided to commit anyway and grind it solo. Searched all of the waypoints in this comment section for the horn in one go.
Finally found the horn at 50, 20. Mystic Rainbowhorn did not spawn nearby. The game did not provide any indication of where to go next.
Ran (mounted) straight to one of the other spawnpoint listed in the comments: 65.5, 29.1
Found it dead at 64, 34, with players looting it.
Could not loot, left with nothing.

Set hearthstone to Tirna Vaal, went out searching again.
Found horn again, hearthed to Tirna Vaal.
Tagged it while it was patting toward Tirna Vaal from the same spawn location as before (65, 29).
Needed about 3 people to take it down. Be careful, it will chunk you if you aren't.

Can anyone confirm if any level other than 60 can get it? I've tried hunting for this thing twice, managed to loot twice, and each time was unable to get the quest-item to drop despite it being a 56% droprate. I was a level-57 at the time, Night Fae Covenant.

Found the horn at 27, 45

Clicked the horn then use hearthstone to TP to Tirna Vaal, and find... nothing.

Kinda disappointed, is there any part I'm missing ?

if you are targting this rare meanning u go around and look for the hornes. i cant stress enough how it is important u set ur hs to tirna vaal.
the spawn is at 65.29 and if u are far away from there most likely som1 els will tag and kill it before u get there.
i was so lucky getting there at 5% hp.(i didnt set my hs there).
so make sure u are ready to tp to tirna vaal.

Found the horn today at 38.6 65.8. The Mystic Rainbowhorn then spawned at 65.5 29.1, as Yaoqin stated.

As an aside, i cannot overstate the importance of setting your hearthstone to Tirna Vaal. I hearthed straight after blowing the horn and it was half dead by the time i made it to the rare...

Found the horn at coords 57,51

I believe this is a new coord. Anyways good hunting and don't just look at the ones that are here check anywhere in Ardenweald, it can be literally anywhere.

After checking sporadiaclly over the course of a few weeks to see if the horn was up, Camped 9 hrs, checking spawn locations periodically every 15-20 mins or so for the horn. Nothing. No zone emote, no spawn. Not sure if it is broken as of 9.1, I haven't seen a lot of comments on it since then, so I would assume it's bugged. Seems like an awfully long spawn timer for a 40% drop on a soulshape

Found the Great Horn at 11:25 on Sylvanas EU, clicked it and the emote appeared but the rare didn't spawn. Seems bugged atm?

Edit - Tried again with WM turned off and the rare did spawn this time.
