This guy drops Outrider's Bridle Chain and actually has a very long path around Nagrand. His respawn timer is 15 minutes, and he respawns and despawns at Anguish Point. When he spawns he runs south along the road to pass Grommashar, follows the road down to Telaar and runs north along the east side of Shadowfall Canyon. He then follows his nose until he reaches the bridge to cross the river just west of Lok-Rath, he then turns left and follows the road around the west side of Mok'Gol Watchpost up to Cerulean Lagoon where he then runs along the coast to The Ring of Blood. He then runs south to the fork at Joz's Rylaks and takes the road south-east untill he passes The Ring of Trials and continues to where he started at Anguish Point when he then despawns.

Now for the combat aspect, this guy isn't actually alone. He is in a riding party with 12 Nagrand Warrider, all with 300k HP but are not elite. Warleader Tome and the Warriders are effected by this buff Strength of the Warsong meaning if you tank them all on top of each other, every last one of them will get a 260% damage buff. I have almost soloed him on a 618 ilvl Protection Paladin with the Tier sets but it involved separating the adds by pulling some and letting the rest run off then catch up with Tome and kill off a few adds before the ones from before get there. With higher gear, i'm sure it will be easily soloable by tanks, otherwise you may want to bring a few people for this fight. Tome also has a enrage which can be interruptedMight of the Warsong. Hes also got this special attack Slash and Burn which puts a ~8.5k/2sec dot on you for 12ish seconds.

I also guess you could just get a couple mates with the Siege engine/Demolisher and shred him. =D

Droprate for Outrider's Bridle Chain will be heavily skewed when looking at Wowhead. Most of the time (if Warleader Tome is pulled away from his other Wolfriders) he will only drop gold. The Wowhead addon doesn't see a mob as "looted" unless it has an item on it---money doesn't count. So unless his body is looted along with other mobs nearby, Warleader Tome will only register as a confirmed loot on Wowhead if his toy drops.

It took me 9 kills to finally get him to drop the toy, instead of just money.

Just something to keep in mind while farming him.

Your chance for loot is personal and tracked by Vignette: Warleader Tome, which is a daily (like how many level 100 rares work). That means that trying for this item more than once per day will not work.

SPAWN POINT: All patrols, including Warleader Tome's patrol, spawn on the south road exiting Anguish Point.

Coordinates for the village are 82:60, which will put you right in the middle of the village. For those of you who don't have coordinates, it's south by southeast of The Ring of Trials, right at the point where all the roads converge.

The average spawn time is approximately 15 minutes; though sometimes it's a little longer, so be prepared to wait. A friend and I waited for over 20 minutes without them spawning, and my friend had to leave before we saw them that night.

DE-SPAWN: After making their circle the patrols de-spawn on the north end of the village—the patrols stop just short of entering the village, and de-spawn.

All patrols move clockwise around the map—this is good to know if you're riding to meet him, as it's easier to run into them by riding in the opposite direction, rather than trying to catch up with them when riding in the same direction—although I should note that their speed is slower than mount speed. I was able to catch up and keep up with them on my Rogue, in stealth, using Burst of Speed.

Warning to Rogues, and to any class with low or no self-healing: Part of their path takes you directly through the swampy area above the Broken Precipice (on the map it's the area with the mushrooms). If you've been there before, you already know what to expect. If you've never been there, the entire area is poisoned, and you will take constant and significant AOE damage simply from being there (this makes stealth impossible). If you're going to engage them, I would highly recommend not doing so in this zone, because you will take significant damage from the zone while at the same time trying to kill Warleader Tome's gang.

Fortunately, Warleader Tome's possy only runs through a short section, and where you won't aggro any mobs, so long as you stay on the road—and they move through quick enough that you shouldn't take much damage.

NOTE: If you want to separate Tome from his group, sapping the leaders of each group behind him causes that group to stop riding, while Tome continues on. You can separate both groups and deal with them separately, then take care of Tome alone. If you plan to solo him, I recommend separating him from his two groups just after he spawns—that should give you enough time to kill both groups, and catch up with Tome before he gets back to the village and de-spawns.

Edit: Thanks Jasquan for the following suggestion: "Also, as a note, if you're a Rogue, you should be able to hit a Distract so it only hits him, he'll stop for 10 seconds while the rest of the group runs ahead, you can do this a few times to make sure he doesn't get the buff"

I believe this mobs loot system might actually be personal. I've killed him 8 times now with no toy for myself but other members of my group have gotten it. When I had a group of about 13 players 3 of them looted the toy while in some groups of 5 nobody got the toy.

Also as a paladin, it is really easy to disjoint the warriders from Tome. Tome only aggroes when you hit him and the warriders aggro normally but if you aggro Tome the warriders join him. If you use the Telaari Talbuk Garrison outpost ability just walk through all the warriders, use Hand of Protection and just keep running. If it runs out, use Hand of Freedom so you don't get netted and just let them reset. Tome should have run ahead all by himself.

A few tips when fighting Warleader Tome:

Horde:

1. Important: If you want to make it even possible to solo, then get the Warsong followers off him, his damage will be reduced by a ton.
A trick I personally use is where I come in from the side of their cavalery, and then I aggro approximately +8 of them. Run away, and they reset to the location they was aggroed = Warleader Tome lose the damage, since the buff is out of range. You do the samething with the last of them - It's necessary to have this done, if you want to have a possibility to solo him. You can also use this for a easy kill on him, if you're grouped.

2. If you're Horde, you should easily be able to pull him to Riverside Post, since it's just beside the route he takes from spawn point. He doesn't have a leash either. The guards at Riverside Post have approximately +500k health, and deals a decent amount of damage. There will be 100 elite guards spawning randomly, that has around +700k health. But they won't be enough alone, since he also has a very strong AoE damage, that burns a lot of targets - he can solo kill them relatively with ease. A thing I learned after my 2nd attempt to make a easy solo kill: don't pull all the guards at the same time, he hits like a truck, and does a fair share of AoE.

3. Wait at his spawn location, which is the nearby Warsong camp, near "the Ring of Trials", just belowe it on the map. When he resets, or killed, he should have a respawn estimated to be approximately around 15-20 mins.

Alliance:

I found it extremely easy to pull Warleader Tome, to Teelari Station, it's basicly just beside the road he and his squad runs.
Because it seems like the guards have a larger health pool and deal more damage, it is easier to kill him there than it is with the Horde. The normal guards have around 1190k health, while the guards that spawns have around 1400k health - nice health pools and very tanky.

So:

1. Reduce the numbers of enemies to fight = Decrease the damage Warleader Tome do. Use the same strategy as in the horde one above.

2. Pull him, and make sure the first guards attack him and if there is more than just him - Pull them further into the place - but keep your main focus on Warleader Tome.

3. Keep yourself alive and kill him!

I will edit the post if anything easier comes up - feel free to comment and share your ways to bring Warleader Tome down. Hope my strategy helped! Good luck with the farming!

For horde players: engage him at , try to kite him into Wor'var and let the guards kill him, then just come for loot :D

BTW: N.U.K.U.L.A.R. Target Painter and some like Soulstone could be helpful

The guards at Telaari Station can help you defeat Warleader Tome. Maybe the Horde can do this too, but I'm guessing Alliance players will be more interested in this. I solo'd him using this trick.

Get on your Telaari Talbuk if you got it and wait for him to respawn at Anguish Point.
Once he is on the road with his pack, hit Tome once with a ranged attack and run. His followers will have a slower response time. This will make Tome get further away from his allies each time it is done.
Repeat step 2 until he is so far that his followers will not aggro.
Get ahead of Warleader Tome and meet him near the path intersection by the western gate of Telaari.
Aggro him and kite him towards the first two guards. Put a pet, such as a Shadowfiend, on him for more reliable kiting.
Once he aggros the first two gate guards you should drag him to the other gate to aggro additional guards. Get any NPC you can on him. Invite others into your party as they land at the flightpoint just to be nice. Everybody gets their own loot for the kill as long as they are in the group.
If you are a healer you can heal the guards if you want. Use threat and aggro drops when needed so that guards take the aggro off of you so you can heal yourself. Keep the fight going until he is dead.

For priests, make sure that you have the Spectral Guise talent. It works well against him with all of the guards at your side.

If you are farming his spawn point, here are a few tips:

- As previously stated, he spawns every 15-20m

It is recommended you farm his spawn point for 2 reasons. When he spawns, he always spawns with his posse of adds with him but...

1) If there are no adds up from the previous spawn, he will spawn with a new set of adds and there is a split second where you can pull Warleader Tome and about 4 of the adds before the other adds are able to react.
2) If you did #1 and are waiting on spawn #2, he will despawn all adds from the previously spawned instance and resummon new adds. When he spawns, there will be a split second where you can solo pull Warleader Tome as his previous adds are despawning and his newly spawned adds haven't spawned yet.

The spawn will rotate 1 --> 2 --> 1 --> 2 and you can farm it with only 2 - 3 players.

Side note: If Warleader Tome is dead and there are any unaggrod Nagrand Warriders still up, killing them is pointless because they will instantly respawn the moment you kill them. Just leave them there until he respawns.

Was farming this with about 15 people. Was starting to feel a little anxious when new-commers were getting the toy while the rest of us (who had been there for over two hours) were not.

I believe it has something to do with the quest tag

Something like a daily, you'll have to wait for it to reset back to false for another chance at it.
This is a theory, though.. I'll be running this on alts as they are 'false.'

So today im farming for this toy in a group and trying to get everyone to use the macro

Heads up that he DESPAWNS if he gets to Anguish at 80, 59 if he makes his full circuit, respawns after 15-20 minutes.

You can separate Warleader Tome from his group of Nagrand Warrider's by waiting for him just before he reaches Anguish point to de-spawn. His group will start de-spawning in their order line-up before him as they reach Anguish Point thus dropping his stacks of Strength of the Warsong , just engage him right as his last 2 Nagrand Warrider's de-spawn and you will have him all by himself.
I discovered this in a last ditch effort to prevent having to wait for him to respawn while my party made their way to him for a tag.

MACRO

Recommended healing macro for the item: Restorative Goldcap.

STEP- BY - STEP

Go to Cerulean Lagoon (48.0, 18.6 <- picture) in Nagrand
Pick up Restorative Goldcap that are everywhere in the area. Inside it, you will find Restorative Goldcap. You will use that to heal your self, when you fight Warleader Tome. How many you should pick up is up to you. Personally, I felt unsure on how much damage Warleader Tome would do. So i took 100.
Warleader Tome Will run through Cerulean Lagoon So you can sit at the road 48.0, 18.6 <- picture) and wait for him. Or a little bit away from the road, so they do not run into you if you would be AFK.
In my case, I need to have 3 stack of Restorative Goldcap. When fightning him and his gang. When they are killed i only need 1 stack.
Right now, I've killed him 10 times. After approximately 21 minutes and 23 or 51 seconds,
he shows up on the road again. (Sometimes he comes alone. His gang is a bit behind him now. This allows you to draw him away from the road to avoid his gang)

"Warleader Tome does not have any loot cooldowns attached to him, so you are welcome to farm him over the course of a day to try and get the item you want! Do keep in mind though that the drop is a chance, not a certainty, even after many kills, so don't be surprised if it takes a while. :)

While there are a lot of useful comments in here they seem to be pretty incomplete.

Basically this guy travels on his path (recorded in other comments) with 3 groups of 4 (so 12 others). It seems like if you pull him and the other groups are close at all to him (can still be kind of far) they will all pull with him.

I tried fighting him with his group of 12 on my prot warr (ilevel about 660) and got destroyed so that wasn't an option.

I then went to his spawn point at Anguish Point (this is the first tower when you first come into Nagrand by the way). When he spawns the 3 groups spawn away from him, so I pulled one of the groups easily at that point. The problem was that while I was fighting and killing them they would respawn and either fight you or run off to find Tome. So this could go on forever if you aren't careful. So not sure i'd recommend pulling them here.

I then went and found him (by following his path in reverse) and I found him alone. Something else must have pulled the other 2 groups. I attacked him and he hurts pretty bad, he has a dmg increase buff you can interrupt but he applies 2 dots Burn Slash that really hurt if you can't heal well. So what I did is follow him and pulled him into the horde wol'var camp and got tons of help after dragging him through the camp.

Hopefully this helps others.

fwiw, I saw him riding a hundred meters ahead of his posse and I was able to pull him alone near the ring of trial. I really wonder what could have caused this.

Even though I pulled him alone I didn't succeed with a 20 k dps retri (even at the time of writing nothing like a dd monster), but it was a close thing and I think I could have done it if I had been more prepared. Just focus on kicking and self-healing.

Grab a friend or use the Restorative Goldcap :), don't waste repair money like me.

Okay, this is my theory about how you obtain the Outrider's Bridle toy. He spawns, yells his announcement. Pull him along with all the adds and kill him. Then type in this string. /run print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(37546)) If it says true, you can basically forget "farming for the day" for it on that character. You won't get it in my opinion, unless for some reason that flags as false after you've killed him.

The key seems to be that first kill of the day and either a yes, toy drops, or no, toy doesn't drop. Highly suspect it all hinges on the first kill per day.

No Idea why Blizzard decided to make him non-shareable, and not rare. Just something for you folsk to keep in mind when you're hunting this guy. Expect competition. If there are any groups camping him, i'd suggest you join them. Trying to solo this guy can prove difficult.

As a paladin, take repentance and stand shortly off the road out of aggro range and repentance the front warrider on one side. Continue following them for a bit to get some range and then repentance the next front warrider. By cc'ing the front one on each side, the warriders behind each will also stop.

Follow him for a little longer to get some breathing room and then go to town, just make sure you pull him off the road so when the warriders do eventually catch up they won't join the battle (nor give him his damage buff).

Druids: Mass Entanglement helps a ton here. Target one of the orcs in the center of the group and hit it--Tome should be immune, so he'll just keep running on leaving his buddies behind. Once he's a significant distance ahead, pull him off the road. When the roots wear off, the other riders will continue on their path, but if you've already pulled Tome while far enough away from them, they won't aggro to you.

725 BM hunter.

Almost a trivial kill now.

Slot Glyph of Endless Wrath. Use class Trink from Archi, this means your pet cannot be killed for 45 seconds. If Tome isn't dead in 45 sec, you're doing it wrong.

Get the from your gnome workshop. MD to pet, activate ring, Bestial Wrath, Barrage, drop a nuke on your pet. Stampede. Multi shot a couple of times, nuke goes off and one shots the adds. At this point it's you and Tome, mano a mano.

However, what with the nuke, Stampede and assorted other damage, the damage pending when the ring procs is obscene by this time. It goes off, and Tome is now a sticky spot on the ground.

Solo strategy
Using a flying mount aggro the whole group and flee flying, the Nagrand Warriders will chase you and even can trap you in a net (you should survive it's not a big deal), Tome has no ranged attacks and they're unlinked so he will continue running. Once Tome and the warriders are set apart pull Tome off the road and kill him. Now for the combat itself, is up to you, your gear and skills; there are tactics in the comments in this page so pick which one fits you.

Myths

For having the toy to drop you need to kill Tome with the buff up and the adds with him.
False. I killed him alone, apart from the warriders (he even called them and none came), with no buff and got the toy.
His respawn is 15 minutes.
False. It's between 15 (accepting what's stated in these comments, 25 from my experience) but can go up to 60 minutes.
You can kill him several times a day without lowering your chances to get the toy.
False. Although Tome is a normal elite he is associated to the vignette Vignette: Warleader Tome, so once you kill him for the first time each day you'll get flagged not for getting loot for the rest of the day. Gold drops anyway as drops from any mob. You can kill him on any other character and get loot, but only once a day.

killed 4 times - 3 times in cerulean lagoon and once kited to telaar. no toy.
last time i killed him he was with 3 or 4 cavalry units which were killed before boss died. no loot.

Soloable as a prot warrior with roughly 700 ilvl (PvP gear) and shockwave. Feels really good killing them all after having tried and/or died so many times before. Have fun :D

Tried solo'ing Tome... when i had around 280k hp as a Rogue... I pulled him into the guards at Telaar, to make them tank... Didn't work out... I actually died from all his DoTs... Tried again with 405k hp... he just died.... in under 25 seconds.. Solo... Don't know what i expected.................
But on the bright side of me waiting so long for it, i got toy in first kill...

If you have a flying mount, you can swoop in and distract some of his riders to follow you for a bit. You can do this a few times until they are lagging behind him a great deal and he then rides alone. You can then ambush him and drag him off of his path so he can't yell for his warband when they catch back up.

I was able to kill him by himself at the outpost with all the Compensated Bruisers at 63.32, 35.73. His riders were still far up the road and I could see them keep going on their route as I fought him behind the outpost. This was about my 12th kill of him and 4th solo. This was by far the cleanest way I've killed him. I was luring him into Telaar for my other solo kills, but I was always bringing his riders.Luckily for me, he did finally drop the toy on this attempt.

This should work at any point along his route as long as you separate him from his warband enough. Just make sure you drag him a good distance off his known route.

Hi, just wanted to add my comments, even though it's late in the game. I'm a 705 prot warrior and have killed him three time with no drops. With this level gear the fight is basically like being surrounded in Ashran's brute rise, but without the dieing.

The group is riding like bill collectors are after them. They are fast, and if you don't know the route well, you can lose the main pack if you peel off riders to kill before Tome. So have some knowledge of the route; they never take a side road, or little trail.

First kill was at his spawn point. If you want to just keep fighting an endless stream of riders, this is the spot for you. Some horde hunter and I downed an endless wave of riders before I finally spotted Tome. Besides the mobs that just continue spawning where Tome does, his riders come to his aid as well. So when you attack Tome with 3-5 mobs on you, the second he's attacked his outriders attack you too.

The second time I killed him I wanted to try kiting him into Telaar (props to Asmongold - u-tube). I taunted one of the riders, not Tome, and he took off. I got away from them and got to Tome and engaged him. You can kite him to a friendly little corner for a little tete a tete, and his riders will pass you by. However it appears that while he is alive groups of riders continue to spawn. Still wanting to try the Telaar strat (stupid me) I kited him to Telaar and ran into his riders. Got him into the fort finally.... Too much work, and no drop.

Third kill taunted Tome at the fork leading into Telaar, which was kind of fun. Difficult to get back into the fort because of the roots they place on you, but it's fun getting the guards to engage him too. No Drop.

Basically, if you haven't gotten the toy and have the gear, just taunt his party away from him, get free, run after him and attack. Then take him to a nice spot for the kill.

This guy and the warriders with him bug out every time I kill them. i cant loot any of them unless i really mess around for several min trying to get lucky that it will randomly let me loot them. even pulling other mobs close & killing them like birds & stuff doesn't help. i then cant even loot then birds. this is extremely annoying since i have to do this daily to try & get the toy. i have no problem soloing them all. started soloing it at about 715 frost dk just about with ring. the looting is actually the hardest part of this encounter.

I killed this guy about 30 times in row as soon as he spawned without getting the toy. Either i was amazing unlucky not getting it or theres a bug that prevents him from dropping it if you kill him asap after spawning.

Got it the other day when i saw him patrolling with his pals, so if you are having trouble getting it, wait that he starts his patrol before killing him.

Easily soloable by a Blood DK, itemlvl 701 (without legendary ring). I picked Warleader Tome and his 12 riders up 50-60 yards outside Anguish Point and tanked them only 10-15 yards beside the road. When the riders respawned at Anguis Point, they just rode past the place where I was still tanking Tome. But even if the riders had rejoined the fight, it would still have been very easy. Never dropped below full hp for more than a few seconds.

I used Remorseless Winter on cooldown, and interrupted Tome when he attempted to cast Might of the Warsong.

Had equipped Mark of Supreme Doom that counted for 26% of the healing done - but it should not be a problem to do it without that specific trinket.

Today after 20ish attempts I finally got the toy. Its worth mentioning that every time I killed him he was alone but this time I mass rooted all the adds except one, killed it then killed the boss.

Would like to confirm that you can only loot him once per day for a chance at the toy. Same as all the other rare mobs. Yesterday 11.09.17 i killed him every 15 mins. No loot. I did this for almost 10 hours. Then when i killed him on my other chars it dropped 1st try on my 3rd char. What a waste of a day. Hope you don't make the same mistake as i did.

His spawn point is right in the middle of Anguish Point. Coordinates: 81.3, 60.4

While the spawn is listed at approximately 15 minutes, I've had him spawn a little quicker. The spawn rate for the toy (Outrider's Bridle Chain) on wowhead is artificially high. From what people are reporting, it's more like about 10% drop rate or so. Happy hunting!

If you kill him before he goes Super Saiyan (before he acknowledges your presence after being buffed by his entourage) and yells "COMMANDER _____. WARRIDERS ATTACK!" he will drop no loot.

I know, because I did that.

I waited 15 mins. for him to respawn, attacked him with my weakest spell to give him a chance to acknowledge my presence, then killed him, and looted the toy.

BFA Pre-Patch: Camped his spawn point for an hour without a single spawn. After the hour, I flew around his path multiple times and have not seen him yell or any indication that he has spawned. War mode was enabled. Went to Org, disabled war mode and returned to camp spawn point. He spawned within 10 minutes. (Finally got the toy too!)

TLDR: Doesn't seem to spawn in war mode

Warleader Tome spawned just now on Tarren Mill - EU (Horde) with War Mode ON. I repeat, War Mode was ON.

It took a bit of waiting at Anguish Point, because he was patrolling the zone, so I figured the best chance of killing him was to camp the spawn in case he had already been killed.

No toy yet, but I have hope. Happy hunting!

Spawn is longer than 15 minutes, waited 30 and nothing has happen. When a rares addon detected the rare spawning, it was not where in the route, so is it phased?

What I've found to be the most efficient way to hunt down Warleader Tome:

Start a timer (/timer)
Start at Warleader Tome's spawn point: /way #550 81 60 Warleader Tome spawn point
Follow his patrol path counter-clockwise.* (Tome moves opposite, clockwise.)
If you don't find Warleader Tome by the time you get back to his spawn point, then he should spawn before the timer reaches 35 minutes.

Note: You must specifically attack Tome to stop him. If you plop your character in his path and AFK, his riders will stop and attack you, but Tome will ignore you and keep riding.

*I highly recommend Silverdragon; it displays Warleader Tome's patrol path on the map and mini-map.

around 10 - 15 minute timer, killed him and he dropped the toy on the first try. perhaps I was just lucky
