Oh my god, I never noticed how much End Time's Echoes completely describe what's happening with those characters!
Ultimately, Nozdormu needs to get corrupted and also get his time powers back for End Time to happen (not to mention Deathwing somehow returning). I think the End Time we played through was just one possibility, had we failed to recover the Dragon Soul etc. Nozdormu does mention he will inevitably become corrupted though, so End Time is more a teaser for the general paths those four will head down, rather than "Deathwing comes back and this is the exact future of WoW."
We will not let this come to pass!
Hang on! I need my tinfoil hat for this post. Also, ONE MAJOR DIFFERENCEDeathwing is dead. He is not impaled atop Wyrmrest. He is D. E. A. D.
5 torches Baine, Jaina, Sylvanas, Tyrande and ourselves? Makes sense as the player character has a connection to the Bronze Dragon flight. And the placement of two of those four, have ties to the Dragon flights of the shrines they are located in. For example Jaina has a connection to the blues through Kalecgos. Tyrande has a connection to the Green dragion flight because of Ysera. Sylvanas is a bit of a stretch but because of the whole Death vs Life thing, I can see Alexstrasza and Sylvanas having a very antagonistic relationship. Baine, I don't recall any time hes ever met a black dragon, but with the highmountain tauren and Spiritwalker Ebonhorn around i can see him becoming well acquainted with them. Then there's is us and all we have done with the Bronze Dragon Flight. And we've also met our future selves at the bronze dragon shrine. (a feat the other four accomplished in The end times dungeon)I don't think this is coincidence. Rather i think Blizz has had several long running plot threads where they know where they want to go but not all the details are concrete and end putting a little bit at a time in each patch/expansion. And we know they do this as we can point to the island Quests as an example.
Edited to sound less like a jerk:I still dont understand why you keep linking Tyrande's Echo to her current situation, to me those are polar opposites.End Time: Tyrande is abandoned by Elune, and with the absense of the light of the moon she is sufferingin eternal darkness.BfA: Tyrande has been blessed by Elune and has become the living avatar of Azeroth's only confirmed actual goddess.Dark is not evil in this case. Whether her attacks sound similar is debatable. To me it seems more like a case of the number of combinations for the words "tear", "moon", "star", "light", etc. being limited, rather than a real thematic link.Just because both feature the moon or moonlight doesn't link them in my mind. After all, there are plenty other characters that use these words without being an Echo or the Night Warrior.
I feel really anxious about Baine. We have been hinted that some darker side of his can take rule over him, not only in the End of Time, but also in the Garrosh trial book, where another alternative Baine became Warchief after killing Garrosh with his bare hands in a fit of anger. Now that Sylvanas strives to exert total control over the Horde and do some shady stuff, he may lose control over himself, basically turning into the End of Time version.
Great work with the article, but I have to agree with the others: I doubt its the case. Also it seemed like Tyrande was cut off elune, which was still heading her call. THe darkness clouded the light for her.Maybe the event referencing it... but otherwise...Still great article.
I dont understand you guys.Blizzard in BFA storywise they created scenarios convenient to the expansion's theme and because of that there are alot of inconsistencies. At this point they could pull a 180 and make it fit all the echos.People that call the story garbage are right in my eyes.Storywise BFA is garbage and it cant be fixed at this point , unlike the gameplay that they can fix at anytime and point.I can tell that alot of players that are "in awe" with the story dont read much or are not familiar with story creation at all.A good story have alot of points but what all of them have in common is that it follows its own logic consistently.Take Malfurion , for instance , he is a druid and druids in Night Elf culture are the most powerful beings they have yet they tonned it down to garbage level and in Legion Malfurion was a damsel in distress which is the total opposite of what he is and was.Can we stop pretend that they write things to be a good story and admit that they write a story to fit the gameplay theme? What I mean is that devs tried the otherway around and still left alot of it out even at the best of their ability.Look at BC , WotLK.In these 2 expansions they tried to fit the gameplay into the story , a story that was good. Now they write a story to fit the gameplay theme and that could never be a "good" story. How should I put it , storywise BFA is that guilty pleasure show you watch. You know that it is garbage but you watch it for the few moments you enjoy.
Am I missing something? Like someone already stated, this seems more like a coincidence. The "echo" versions of these characters are nothing like the ones we're dealing with currently. I don't get it.
Murozond mentioned that this ending was a blessing compared to what was truly going to happen. If N'Zoth's victory isn't the worst outcome, what is?That's the real question.
I'm sorry, but the only thing I really see in common is that the characters are the same.
