Nerf deserved imo. Either nerf overpowered classes like dks or take all the others on their level.
I see the WoW class teams have not learned from Legion Affliction Warlock. My take is that they need to fix the underlying uncapped issue. They should be limiting the scaling and yet I have a sneaking suspicion they will just knock some random numbers down.
Here's your fix: make it hit 10% less per target affected. GG
So this scaling is only matter when there are more than 10 enemys. If u are not overgeared and dont pull the half of the instance its basicly useles af. With these talents udk need constant 20+ enemy to deal with. If u helping your friend on low M+ its great, every other case its not.
Hello,I study mathematics and this is not realy like "rocket science" mathematics. It is quite simple to understand for everyone. And yes, I think this kind of articles will pull out the nerves on Deathknights. So I think this kind of websites help with that. I think it is positive. And furthermore, like the other guy said: "nerves come and go. Even if this short nothing "new" was not written, it stil would come as a discussion matter at blizzard headquarters. Ofcourse it would. Everything gets nerves what is too powerfull.I play world of warcraft since the start and never stopped. I am also semi-hardcore. This dude writes a fine article, but it was not realy needed for blizzard to know that deathknights are way too strong in AOE.Even they probably know what quadratic scaling means, they invented it , right.Though, writing this kind of articles makes the world of warcraft people be aware of it, like you did with me, but I think, publicing this is not a good way too help blizzard. I think a nerf will come soon....there goes your very sick OP class man... (pointing to the writer.)Yours faithfully,Steeben
now blizzard instead of nerf dks make other dps clases more unique aoe abilities so everyone can enjoy the game, also when ppl reach this lvl of mastery let them benefit instead of nerfing
It's pretty interesting but will get nerfed soon anyway. Blizzard seem careful about making sure DPS can't get too out of hand. I remember back in WOTLK there was a talent that gave Rogues energy back for each enemy you hit with fan of knives. Doing "Many Whelps! Handle It!" achievement I managed to do so much DPS it broke the whole encounter, caused massive lag and then disconnected everyone who was in the instance lol(needless to say, it wasn't long before that talent was nerfed..)
If it wasn't nerfed after the MDI pull months ago, I'm not sure why it would be now. We're certainly not seeing a huge influx of unholy dk's in M+. It's the same old DH/rogue/druid/mage.Though to be fair having this kind of scaling clearly makes balance impossible for certain niche situations, and it probably deserves an adjustment.
And it's nerfed into oblivion.
When creatig those aoe effects, they should have seen this coming. things like this have to be nerfed. And they are so damn easy to avoid, with just capping the maximum amount of triggered explosions. Let's say it triggers of a maximum of 5 enemies. Since the explosions still hit everyone around, it will still scale up by the amount of mobs in a gigantic pull, just linear. To be fair, they could increase the damage, just le it cap off at some point. Easy. A buff in small pulls, a nerf at stupid unrealistic gigantic pulls.
Blizz saw this at the MDI. It's not a secret. They would have nerfed by now if they had an issue.
Considerin how rarely pulls like these happen i doubt we get a nerf
Feels kind of like old enhance shamans back in Cata iirc. Flame shock plus fire nova. Flame Shock spread by fire nova, and fire nova being cast from all targets with flame shock and damaging everyone except the person it casted from so if you had 1 target it'd do 0 dmg because it doesnt damage itself but if you had 5 targets each one would take damage from 4 novas 10 targets 9 novas etc.
Unholy single target dmg still suck there is nothing to nerf lol
Situational or not, for the most cases the Unholy dk's aoe damage comes most off the Virulent plague here, for what I see. The case in the page isn't THAT good, as other classes DO CAN push similar numbers, in terms of GCD used. See Frost mage Orb, Hunter's beast cleave. And the lag, 100 mobs? Hell, those had to be all stacked up too for the Wounds stuff to hit, some classes are better in some situations, even for 100 mobs. If those 100 mobs can live long enough, Balance and Assassin and Affliction might pull bigger numbers. In wow, most fights with that large of number of mobs, are mostly short-lived ones, Outlaw rogues can shine in there, while UH DK are still on their globals. But I agree that UH DK is IMO better than frost now, but in terms of all content available, their virulent plague talented to deal more damage in shorter time, and the pet facerolls when transformed.
ITT: A bunch of broken DKs trying to convince the rest of the community that doing literally 20X more AoE damage than the next best AoE class is fair and balanced. One guy even tried bringing in DK lore as an excuse to be broken. You guys are putting Gumby to shame with the amount of stretching you're doing. What's next? The old "DKs are a hero class, so they should be doing 20X more DPS than everyone else!"? :D
Quadratic scaling is cool and all, but can we get some decent single target dps?
Neat.
