The story of the most epic drop I have ever gotten was actually the pursuit of the legendary hand of Ragnaros. Years back, when the honor system was a mere infant, when the Warsong Gulch was the pinnacle of PvP encounters, and the alliance of server Hyjal were getting floored by mighty guilds like Fires of Heaven, I a little known paladin had a dream. A dream of having epic loots to be able to stand a toe to toe against those PvP titans. With that notion in mind our little rag tag group of non epic geared PvP players expanded out, gathering stalwart heroes to attempt a journey into the depths of the Molten Core. Here that little paladin was permitted to run with a retribution spec, when no one thought it was cool. (Being the raid leader helped, along with being in the top 5 for both DPS and Healing on runs allowed it to continue.) The guild battled for many months to reach the mighty firelord himself. After failing to topple the elemental for a month, the stage was set for the guild success. Unfortunately for that me a real life engagement meant missing the attempt. Fate would be cruel, the guild did finally see success, and the legendary eye of Ragnaros dropped. It had already been voted by the entire guild that I would receive said honor when that legendary item did dropped, yet I was not there. I received phone calls and messages minutes after the eye had been passed to the warrior next in line. I humbly congratulated him on his fantastic new loot, as it was as much and honor for him as it would have been me. Yet still I was bummed. The guild then visited the Molten Core for many more weeks with no such legendary luck. Then the decision was made that we were to move forward to the next great challenge of Black Wing Lair. The guild got together for one last run through the Core, and on that night, fate choose to smile down on me. On that last run, the last time the group would challenge Ragnaros the legendary eye was among the spoils. All the materials were saved and ready to forge the mighty hammer. So I with eye and hand, along with the guilds smith ventured into Blackrock Depths, to the great black anvil, to forge the mighty weapon. Here I watched in utter glee as each swing of the smiths hammer flung sparks of lighting and echoed like thunder throughout the great chamber. (Granted it didn’t really do that in game, but in my mind it had.) The smith gladly handed over the newly forged hammer to me then I used the eye of Ragnaros. The fiery might surged through me as that legendary golden orange lettering stared back, Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros was now mine. It’s hard to imagine feeling like you have achieved greatness via a video game, but at that moment I had. Forging that hammer in the heart of Blackrock Depths among the elementals and lava falls was the most epic loot I have ever gotten.Kami
Well, my most memorable drop was on my hunter (my main) when the Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle finally dropped. I was running Kara every week for over four months and no drop. I had all my T4 gear and lots of badge gear, but the item I most wanted had yet to drop for me. So, when it dropped, it was an epic moment for me.

I don't raid, so when Wrathtide Longbow dropped off of heroic Prince Kalithresh, I was pretty happy. Not to mention that both Beast Lord Leggings and Beast Lord Mantle also dropped on the same run! Too bad I already had them.
My most epic drop would have to have been that blasted Sinister Squashling. I remember killing that blasted headless horseman MILLIONS of times just for that pet to finish off my Hallowed be thy name achievement.Course i eventually down the horseman one day and TA-DA there he is. We all Need roll on him and i end up the winner.Of course, because this is my luck, a few seconds afterwards i go and do my "Save the Village" daily. Bam, little bastards in the bag the orphan gives you. So just after winning one i got one.
First time I went to Dire Maul on my first kill I got a Happy Fun Rock. I was a bit miffed when it dropped but I was ROFLMAO when I sold it on Auction House for 25 gold! Now that was epic for me! LOL!
Getting the final piece of my T1 set. I was so happy to finally have the complete set... To bad it only lasted a few days since BC came out not long after and quest drops had better stats. =/
i always wanted a special mount that nobody has
I've always liked Zin'Rohk, it was always the 2nd most giant sword in old WoW, and it destroyed worlds. There wasn't much to dislike about it, and we all know bigger is better.
