when i farmed my azure dragonling in Azshara for a week, 4 hours at a time. On the 6th day, it finally dropped and i was very happy!
I would have to say the epic drop that stands out most in my recent memory is when I got my Talon of Azshara (http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=30082) from Morogrim. It probably ties second to my Dethblow X11 Goggles as the epic I've worn the longest (the goggles I got prior to 70 and I still have them on in Northrend).

My most epic loot was my Tier 2 Belt off of Razorgore pre-BC. It was our first attempt inside of BWL ever. Everyone had read up on the fight except a trial recruit.Long story short: curiosity got the best of him.He summoned his Eye of Kilrogg (while everyone was preparing for the battle) and went up to where the Controller Orb was and started the fight. So we calmly proceed to fight. One of our dragon kiters (a warrior) died 3/4 the way through and a mage decided to try his hand, he got them under control. And with all the panic heals on the mage, the second kiter died. Sadly we had like 6 eggs left : /. Then suddenly the mage speeds across the floor and magically gains control of the dragons. 'WHO BRINGS SPEED POTS TO RAIDS?' was the first thing heard over vent. Our kiting healers were going OOM because of the damage the mage was taking so someone quickly explains the strategy of having the mage run to a corner, getting DIed, letting them walk a few feet away and then clicking it off. Suprisingly enough it worked perfectly, we had time for healers to get him up before they made it back to him. A few seconds later the eggs were gone and we killed him.
I would have to say the most epic thing i have received was the Captured Firefly, I farmed it for almost 3 days solid i hardly got any sleep but i was determined to get it and on December the 24th of last year i got it. I farmed it for my friend as a Christmas present and he wanted it so bad but didn't have the time to farm it, so i took it upon myself to get it for him. I wrapped it and everything he was speechless when he opened it. and i would have to say that was the most epic loot i have ever gotten.
Well, this will probably seem a bit cliché, but my Pillar of Ferocity was the most epic drop I've gotten. I never raided much preBC, and was in a very small guild until we merged with a much larger guild. My very first raid with the new guild was Hyjal (Gruul had been the extent of my 25 man experience up to then). I was nervous and eagerly wanted to prove myself to the new guildies. Well, they had never killed Anetheron, my guild showed up new to the instance in general. We breeze through the first boss, wipe it up a few times on Anetheron, then we finally down him. It was a great bonding moment with the new guild - and lo and behold, the Pillar drops. First kill with this guild and for myself. It was amazing, and I was very lucky to be the only feral druid in there for that run, seeing as how there were 3 other ferals that offtanked from time to time.Ralias of The Seventh TrumpetBlade's Edge
http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=28188Is the most beautiful weapon I've seen, and I had wanted it for so long! It was awesome when it finally dropped. Best part? I was the only spellcaster when it dropped. I just realized, I've had it as my wowhead icon for a while now!~ I love my staff!
Gorehowl~After multiple runs of Kara, working hard to earn my place as a ret pally gorehowl dropped, but who would give it to a ret pally? My guildleader was the only other person who could use it on the run, so he passed so I could have it.
Thought it was pretty epic to get my Firefly pet from just a random kill. No farming at all. Kinda surprised me.
My favorite piece of epic loot? It would be my Pants of the Aldor. Why? Because is was the first piece of tier loot I ever, ever, had. They were also my very first piece of epic pants and the last piece of armor I needed to be fully dressed in epic items. Oh, and the fight I put up for them! It was really big, boss going down like a baby.
