The races shouldn't be that hard, wow isn't a racing game and the prize isn't that rewarding.
Got the title/Gold on all last night, first night of really sitting down to the challenge. Worst offenders for me were Azshara- for some reason Advanced was SO much more difficult than Reverse? Then equal hate for Ungoro Advanced and AQ Advanced+Reverse. I watched several videos for Ungoro and just COULDN'T see how I was doing it wrong, then realised it really did come down to the tiniest corrections on turns and precision use of Surge Forwards... I was making enough improvements to keep going with it, but it was a close call on the AQ runs. Having spent over an hour on 1 track was a huge motivation killer lolI found that this "dolphin leap" technique didn't work for me, I managed to do the Gold's without using it as I couldn't work out how to make sense of it, but I did give it a go :D
I believe 100% that the designer(s) for some of these races are more focused on their own pleasure of trolling the player with the ring placement than making a fun racetrack.I'm curious how many players walked away from Kalimdor Cup saying "I never want to do that again" as I did. I consider this a very serious flaw in video game design. Video games should be fun, they shouldn't leave the player feeling like they don't want to play anymore.IMO, even the Advanced and Reverse need to be backed off on the difficulty. The general playerbase should be able to get all gold. Anyone wanting more than that can feel free to work on their personal times and compete that way. The requirements for getting gold shouldn't rely on knowing little tricks like barely clipping the rings, using the Skyward Ascent trick for flying forward, etc. Those should be reserved for the players who really want to bring their personal time down.I hope Eastern Kingdoms Cup is more forgiving.
