Un'goro Advanced and Feralas Reverse were the only two courses that gave me real trouble. For most of the courses, I was able to get gold in 1-3 attempts, with a couple taking a few more than that. Feralas Reverse took 20 or more - that stretch of track at the Dire Maul entrance was the worst. Felt like it was missing a vigor recharge there. Un'goro Advanced I had to spend like 3-4 hours on, and lost count of how many tries. The timing window on that one is ridiculous compared to the rest. Even Un'goro Reverse wasn't nearly as bad - that one only took me 2 tries.I was able to do it, so it is possible, but I wouldn't mind if they adjusted that gold time by like 4-5 seconds. It would be warranted, in my opinion. The way it is now, it's in a completely separate league from every other course in the game.I find the courses they chose to highlight in this post somewhat interesting. I didn't have any problems at all in Uldum. Durotar was definitely annoying with the trees, and took a few restarts due to hitting them, but still didn't take me terribly long. I think I actually may have had more issues in Ashenvale, with the columns and the statue's bow that sticks out in the path. Azshara I got gold on all 3 difficulties on the first try, so that one didn't even cross my mind as being hard.
Why people dont asking nerf curve or something. All races is possible, I spent 5 hours for all in first day, its not hard. If somebody spent 50-100 tries for ine race, it means he makes the same mistakes over and over again and not try other tactiks
Huge props to the person who explained the dolphin technique:Skyward ascent gives you a massive speed boost when you're at max DR (930% speed) and then hit space when your pitch is over 15 degrees (think of a flat plane as 0 degrees straight forward and 90 is looking straight up. 15 is looking slightly up). You look up, hit skyward and then point the camera down to get back on course. Think of it like a dolphin jumping out of the water. They jump out, catch the air, then back down. That wave motion is the key to SPEED.
Whilst we're muttering about the harder courses, mainly design choices that frustrated me as I went for Achievements, my personal favourites:Barren Divide DiveDesolace DriftGreat mix of turns, dives and pivots with adrenaline-rush valley runs to put a grin on your face. What's your favourite?
With the BRONZE TIMELOCK ability you can take advantage of terrain in those circuits in which the first ring is far from the start or those in which you must move forward and you have to waste some time running to reach the precipice to fly.https://youtu.be/0zdPVKabf6M
Races are just all over the place, it feels like. And dang I can already feel the bonine (anti-motion sickness drug) wearing off...
I threw something together to keep track of my waypoints around the race, so I don't have to wait until the end to know if I fell behind. Now I can reset the race much earlier if I'm already behind: https://legacy.curseforge.com/wow/addons/dragonriding-speedrun
I found flying in first person made some of the harder ones easier for me. The rush is fun to experience to with these races. Please keep adding more. :D
I did them all first time today and now I’ll wait till the next area is available. Just not rewarding to do more than once.
Love flying through the old world. Nostalgia rly kicks in. And I dislike dragongliding on dragon isles.Since last DFM I play in full dark mode with inky black potion. This is the real hardcore challenge for the races. I cant see the obstacles but only the rings, vigor and lava bubbles. Lots of fun esp. in Felwood when I coudnt tell what hit me. But it reduces the visual overload and let me focus on the rings.Real fun. Maybe the reason Im still stuck on Azshara with 101 sec advance and reverse (100s is silver, 96 gold) and Ashenvale with 0.7 s over gold. But I got AQ advance and reverse both gold on first try.Thousand Needles is really too fast too furious.Sadly there are no races in Tanaris, Dustwallow, Mulgore, Darkshore and Teldrassil.
