To the people complaining about how "bad" he made the game back then i ask, have u even played bfa? Id take this guy back anytime, at least he plays the game and has some understanding of how it works, unlike Ion&company who are so disconnected as to say that corruption will "reduce RNG and make IL more impactful" in an interview 2 weeks before 8.3 release. What is needed to develop a great game is people who play it and understand it. The current team has shown on every single patch of the last few years that they have no idea what they are doing (azerite-corruptions- Legion legendaries at start). Waiting for covenants with popcorn ready.
Ghostcrawler was like the parent that disciplined you and made you behave. You didn't appreciate him then but as you aged and you became an adult you see why he did those things.
The only thing I remembered about this guy ...Refused to Nerf Warriors in PvP {His Main} Build 5 stacks 1 shot. Europe Nerfed it to 3 stacks. I think I remember his excuse/justification was, that you should anticipate it and defend against it. lol Wasn't he responsible for the Real Money Auction House in Diablo?
he used to be connected to blizzard 6 years ago. time to let go wowhead, you just fame him for himself. there might be other influencers whom more worth and connected to the community to post about here on wowhead
What is he referring to with the mammoth dialogue lines?I'm really happy he's back giving his opinions. He knows a lot about the game from the inside and out so he can give a knowledgeable, objective opinion. Still have to remember that he's just one random dude now.
i agree, especially with "So many mounts" and "leveling is too fast"Mounts right now is just a number, the feel is lost, also the leveling and the alt friends system, idk why ppl want so bad to play with alts
I've always respected Ghostcrawler and his contributions to wow, he's by no means perfect but I felt like we both loved wow for the same reasons. I have to say, I forgot how refreshing it is to read a well though out opinion on this game that I myself believe in. Lets hope blizz keeps their constant attention to the community, this game is at it's best when we all work on making it a better game together.
Good to have you back in the game Ghostcrawler! Still thankful of all the good things you did for WoW!
He is absolutely right about the leveling speed being too fast. Leveling should always be slower with options for the player to make it go faster (XP bonus items). I miss that with the majority of people now wanting to be done with it ASAP and forcing the player to miss out on storylines or go back when it is trivial to finish them.It should be a players choice to speed up leveling themselves, not be forced to level up quickly by the game.
Some positivity is always nice.
So lovely to see him again and happy he's enjoying the game!
GC was the best dev they ever had on the team.GC in case you ever read this: This is Frank you met in Paris at the MOP launch, thank you so much for the mage "sprint after blink" glyph reintroduction during early MOP, I'll never forget you for that. PS: I still have all my Collector Edition boxes signed by you, much brolove. <3Again you were the BEST dev they ever had, by FAR.
I think about +10% XP required for leveling would really fill out the sweet spot. It's great now that I'm on my 14th alt, but I can see how for new players especially that it might seem to zoom by far too quickly.
This is so heartwarming to read.
"Chromie TIme was actually meant to help with the fractured storytelling experience, sending players to focus on one expansion's story instead of skipping around between many continents."Yeah. They should have made it that the levels scale in such a way that end level content takes up 10 levels at least, if not 15 or 20, instead of 5 as it is now. (Also I heard that quests in Argus don't grant any XP... Like WHY?) Cause let's be honest, most of the expansions put 90% of their story to the endgame. If you level up in Legion only in the 4 leveling areas, how much of the "Legion" story have you even experienced? Basically none. It happens in Suramar, Broken Shore and Argus. It'd be nice if the end of the leveling experience in Chromie time ended up with some kind of scaled down version of the endgame raid for solo or small group. Otherwise the very ending is always going to be obscured.Instead, we only got bigger leveling brackets and scaling, and Blizz called it a day. A shame. Hopefully, they improve it in the future. Though I don't know if I will wanna level even MORE characters than I already have.
In my opinion GC was a pretty good devs, I remember that back in the days he was not well liked (alike Ion now in some sense), were every single problem or nerf was stated to be his doing. For I he was just doing a good job at making the game entertaining and fun but hey to each one their thought right ?It's good to see some thought on how WoW is from an experienced outsider devs, it help to see how the game is viewed from a dev viewpoint.
People who enjoy things and have fun seeing people who were very instrumental in the life of the game. So in short. I ask for things like this.
"He also revealed that he's pleasantly surprised to see how big transmog has become, which was initially viewed as a small feature when he worked on WoW"I've been asking for transmogs SINCE THE START OF VANILLA!It is such an obviously wanted feature to anyone who actually knows anything about game design. Thank god he is gone. Not like I'm happy with the current game designers. For some odd reason most game dev companies have poor game designers. I'm sure Blizzard is also festered with nepotism.
