This is when it pays to have friends you run mythics with. They can divvy up the covenants and not pug for a thousand years searching for the perfect comp.
My assessment after some thought: everyone will be picking Venthyr for the dps buff in progression groups; none of the others move the needle in any way if a team knows what they are doing (nobody needs checkpoints or infrequent "extra stun").So my prediction: one covenant to rule them all.
I will be waiting when all these people saying these covenant only buffs are good to post on the blizz forums and cry about how they cant get into groups even more so than now.
Venthyr SM Fury warrior ilvl 100 with "X" Legendary LF HA +15 .... Do you even think before you implement stuff in the game?
Ion: “the higher up you go the more that bothers you, we understand that feedback, it isnt a surprise to us but across the totality of the game and the broader audience"In other words, they care about the entire game rather than the whims of some tryhards, they clearly say they UNDERSTAND the feedback, they CHOOSE TO IGNORE IT because their goal is to make a game for the broader audienceSo yeah, they dont give a damn about people doing ultra high keys because there's no point to ever care or balance a system that scales infinitely. They care enough to balance around making all specs and covenants do a 10-15 in shadowlads, after that, they have achieved their goal balance wise, they dont care about epeen mode
Nobody is forcing anyone into any covenants, tryhards cant pretend to be the victim when their own mentality is forcing this upon them.I ll be playing a venthyr boomie which is worse than night fae and I ll do just fine for both raids and m+ because I actually can do mechanics and know my class to perform well so never needed that extra min maxed dps to actually save me from mechanical failures bad players suffer from and try to hide behind "but i am mathematically minmax, can bruteforce through the problem", because you cant pretend all the people who are up in arms about it are doing m30s to require that minmaxing, most are just tryhards doing 15-20s but because they fail mechanically they try to cover that fail with minmaxing. And like we said before, ultra high m+ like 25+ on live rn are not relevant because blizzard doesnt care if they are balanced or not due to infinite scaling, their goal is to balance everyone around 15-20s, after that, they ve done their job.
Just wanna throw my thoughts into this cesspool. I see a lot of comments about how M+ should be scaled for the weekly loot / ilvl key range. Why? Mythic+ as a system was designed to scale in dificulty so that you can push your personal limits and work as a team to tackle a series of puzzles. Why should this system be tuned towards players doing their weekly no leaver.Throughout this comment section this change is being praised by people who do not play Mythic+ in its intended design. These people are also slamming "high end" players for their playstyle and seeing this as some glorious win over the people these buffs will impact the most. These buffs are currently seen as some cool / unique flavour being added to the dungeons, you know what else was unique flavour? Tol Dagor cannons.
I am half way expecting to see things like:LFG my key or x covenant dungeonLF x covenant player for dungeonThe thing is, 5 people per dungeon, 4 covenants to choose from. Unless everyone of a class buys fully into the "x covenant" is best for this content for your class/spec, there will be issues but they can be overcome. However, if that is what happens, then people will be expecting certain classes/specs to be a said covenant and might not invite that class or spec unless they have the matching covenant already in group. That said, how many will look for keys they match with or run their own and look for the matching covenant?
Z-kurk approves.
