Everyone arguing it wouldn't hurt the game are so wrong. Top grps will have a pain in the ass getting different chars with covenants rdy so they min/max everything out. When people on the lower brakets see this they wanna copy the composition 1 by 1 and will have the best setup for their m+5 run. Everyone will get smacked in the face with this bs.Its like now u dont need a HPala/RDruid for m+10 but ppl wont invite ur priest/shaman same with some dd specs...
And that funny thing is what? Are they only gonna two of the 8 dungeons because they arent ultra optimal without that covenant on the other six dungeons? That sounds like getting close to the definition of lunacy.
To anyone who is still touting "tHiS WiLL bReAk Da gAmE!"It won't. It will actually make runs more fun, unique and guess what... maybe instead of just min/maxing you actually have to communicate in an MMORPG? Dear Lord, what a travesty.Honestly, if this will get rid of those toxic min/maxers in the 1-15 key range (live) I'm even more for this change than I previously thought.
Excellent, I was hoping for this.
terrible
How deep in the non sense Blizzard will sink this extension?SL was supposed to be the plus after the strong minus BfA was.Covenant is super cool as long as it is cosmetic or slight movement advantage. Here playing covenants will be the same as duplicating the factions. We will not have Horde vs Alliance but have 4 factions. Why I care you might ask?The bulk of the players will be happy with this as long as they evolve in mid game. Please foresee the late game announcement in Mythic+ PuG. There will be no need of meta classes and composition now. But there will be a need of meta classes+Covenant. You might say that this min/max mentality is only with high level player and you would be wrong. How many people asks 2k5+ for mythic 16 or even 15? Rio score showed us already that people are blinded sheep seeking external excuse to get boosted on easy content. With those covenant bonus the mid range 14-18 mythic+ will be a nightmare in PuG. People will save 1 spot in the group for the correct covenant to be integrated. Limiting the spots available. For fixed pushing group, what do you do ? People seeking for high level keys? MDI or even top tier mythic+ player ? They will have to coordinate so that at least each covenant is represented in a way to ease the success of the keys? Please quit the 'you can do it without it'. The question is 'if it is easier do to with it, why people would not use it?'Blizzard is implementing a system that is so segregating the player base that it will not even be fun and people will just complain at the system where it was a good idea in the first place. In conclusion, Covenant will translate in some specialisation to be overpowered due to the fact that the player base is bigger than the testing team of Blizzard and someone, somehow will find a way to boost a spec. In addition, people will be divided in content by 4 in each faction, which make no sense regarding the fact that there is fewer players compared to the golden age of WoW.
Why is every single person that comment on how absurd this is and how much it will DEFINITELY make you never find a group anymore, ever, seem to imply that there will only always be 1 spot left in a group?Like it is a bit delusional. You need 1 out of 5 people in the group with that covenant, so you don't need a "WW monk with necrolord when kyrian is best for WW", you need someone who is a goddamn necrolord (say a class/spec that has a super broken necrolord ability if you are so DESPERATE to min/max). You need a -SINGLE- person. I don't know if you guys understood this but the buffs don't stack. By this demented logic then EVERYONE is grouping up without even worrying about covenant and on the SINGLE LAST PERSON they will impose all the restrictions in the world? If that's the big issue just queue for groups with less than 4 people in it, then apparently your problems are magically solved.I think the net worth of these changes will be around 0. At the same time that you will have ^&*!@#ed people that only want to be carried through things and can't even play right go around refusing everyone around that isn't "THE PERFECT class/spec/covenant/talent/soulbind/transmog COMBO", you'll also get groups that will go "Ehh, well his ilvl is a bit low but he is a necrolord so the bonus we get is much higher than his lower performance" and you'll get into a group that you wouldn't have normally gotten into if it wasn't for that.Stop trying to make the game a gray blob. Having good sides and bad sides is a GOOD THING, it adds depth and replayability to the game, to go through with different groups and see what works best with your character and playstyle. This whole "Covenants should be cosmetic" is the most anti-RPG sentence I have ever heard, and for some reason people think they are being intelligent spewing such nonsense.
LFR has checked in.
