These are honestly super cool and creative and I hope they don't become a total balancing nightmare.
I'm in love with the idea of these gems. Fantastic idea Blizzard devs. The three gem bonuses only being active inside the Maw and Torghast is a pretty big bummer though. Would love to see them active in new raid, but the effects may be too strong to use on progression content
Chaos bane one? Shadowmourne hello.
I like how Blizzard states that they won't put systems on top of systems on top of systems for this expansion. And yet, here we are.I know it's just for raids but that's super unnecessary. We have yet another currency, a new set of collectibles to upgrade with very minimal throughput increase stacking on top of each other. Can we just have a healthy foundation and keep that ?The current legendaries and covenant abilities are awfully balanced, some specs have been dead for years (hi Mistweaver how are you doing in your hole?). These looks really bland and uninspired and it's another gimmick that we won't care about as soon as the next patch. Why Blizzard can't start making features that survive more than a patch ? Their design philosophy isn't working it's been clear ever since Legion was over and we lost all of our Legion's stuff. It's getting worse with each expansion and most specs are performing only thanks to gimmicky borrowed power (hello Mistweaver, how is your 30% throughput from your legendary doing?).It's even more frustrating when players have been wanting raid sets back pretty much since we all saw how boring raid sets have become since BFA's Uldir raid.Bad design, yet again.
i hate this as a guild who only raid 2 nights at week, this make us reclear heroic more just for farm currency, we are not a CE guild but still is anoying having systems over systems
I want to post this early in hopes of Blizzard potentially resolving this issue if it's currently unaddressed while in it's development. If you do not make items that allow raiders to socket legendaries with these new types of slots, you are going to force high end raiders to re-grind their legendaries if they are currently in slots that not capable of having a venari gem socket put on them. This means if your legendary is currently in a shoulder, cloak, chest, gloves, leg, or boots slot and you can only obtain these new raid sockets from dropped gear in the new Sanctum raid, you will be forced to grind a new legendary that falls into the helm/neck/bracers/belt/rings slot to avoid missing out on a raid gem slot.
i think that at this point the high end raiders are capped out on soul ash, and therefor can already be buying the alternate slot. Also, this game isnt for the 1% high end raiders so if they loose out 1 gem, so be it.. just my opinion
This game should rename to World of many borrowed powers.
"Systems upon systems upon.."It's gems... We're socketing gems with unique raid effects.I love it when raids offer unique buffs to raiders while inside the raid. Just so happens that this iteration allows us to use it in the Maw and Torghast.
I admit that it can be a nice idea to add such a system even though it makes me kinda sad that this (since the gems work everywhere) kinda "forces" certain people to raid. Personally I dont enjoy raiding and here I am only playing Mythic+ - those gems working everywhere in PvE situations makes raiding feel like a must if you want to have optimal gear, just not a fan of the idea forcing people in certain content to get the optimal stuff for your desired content.
Please disable this in any form of PvP.Thanks.
I still don't know if this'll work in PvP or not - not one fansite seems to be able to answer that question. It seems like it will, since they've iterated that the individual gems will work anywhere, and that makes me worried.
Unholy 3-Set Bonus is literally just shadowmourne's effect. And shadowmourne was op.. can't see anyone taking anything besides that one.
