This is good for the sake of scaling health, but going to make gearing significantly more complicated. Especially when you factor in procs. You can have huge secondary stat procs on items right now, if that's subject to diminishing returns, it makes those items significantly worse if I'm understanding this correctly. That also being said, if classes are all intended to have a balance of stats, then they need to be tuned for that to be the best gearing method. The only real issue I see is it's a system that is not going to be communicated well to the average player unless they significantly change how the default stat panel is designed.
you know what else can make people from getting crazy amount of secondary stats by end of expansion, putting less secondary stats on gear
This isn’t new, it is the same deal in BFA. More rating needed to get 1% the more of a stat we have. Depends on what stat but surely people saw that all expansion.
Although this is good to not create an insane disparity from some specific specs/classes to others (e.g. Fire Mage, Destro Lock, in BfA), I wonder how impactful this will harm the specs/classes in general.
wow, bringing socialism to your gear... bad in real life, bad in game.
This is a good thing it prevents the incredible outscaling of certain specs over others, the only question is if every spec ends up reaching the same asymptote (limit) in terms of diminishing returns. QQ some more warlocks, mages, bm hunters. arms. and shadow players (or any unforeseen spec that would reach those thresholds we see now because of stat steroids aka corruption).
Do Blizz even know what there doing anymore ? They add stat increasing buffs in some dungeons and they follow up by taking them away by adding back diminishing return hard and soft caps
Awesome news picture! :DThis will hurt some speccs, for me as a reso druid it doesnt really matter (for now)

This puts value back on main stats once you cap out.
the DR will probably get weaker over the course of the expansion is my guess. cant have OP toons at the beginning.
I just came here to say that avatar (elf and the math) of this topic is marvelous. Great job!
they should at this point make it impossible to use skills in any order and only follow blizzards rotation they want us to use, they really don't want people to find fun builds in this game they want to turn wow as a whole into a esport.
You just can't have a jump of 150+ item levels in a single expansion, it is just to much. They are overengineering this. When BFA started stats were so low that many classes just didn't work. What do they expect when they build up content for 320 ish item level when you end the expansion at 475.They should have made it so classes work successfully with heroic gear and build up from that. Also a 150 ilvl difference at around 400 is not the same than having 150 ilvl at 800.
While it affects BM and fire yes this also hurts classes like WW that only want vers, and already scale poorly with everything else. There are more than 5 specs in the game you know
