I'm in love with the idea of the new flight system, much better than AFK fliying for farming bots.Just make it account wide.
i am not happy if they dont let us use our other flying mounts with normal flying ever in it i can understand the other mounts not working like the dragonriding one but you should still be able to choose to use a non dragonriding mount if you want to fly also when a pathfinder achievement is completed especially for those that like to stick to race theme/lore fitting everything, me being one for example, i mean i would much rather be able to fly on say my celestial steed on a night elf or vulpine familiar on a vulpera for example, the mount fits the character, i probably wont even use the dragon mount much as it doesnt fit my characters and tbh i dont really like the dragons or drakes in the game look wise for mounts, and i am probably not the only one with these thoughts, there are millions of players so there are bound to be others that feel the same
This is a direct contradiction to what Ion said on the matter in the interview with Hazel. Either we've got some wires crossed, or they put out both pieces of information to see what galvanizes the community.
Sounds fun at first but most likely gonna suck after a while.
I think a lot of people saw the announcement and went "Oooh flying from day one, no more pathfinder nonsense or achieve to unlock flying, Blizz caved and we won!" That isn't the case here, They wanted to create a landscape and terrain that fit the story and recognized that would require some form of flight to do from day 1. Their solution was to keep all the mounts on the achieve style unlock we are accustomed to but introduce this dragon-riding mount to allow you to move around as you need to in order to solve vertical challenges. I knew as soon as they announced it there would be those starry-eyed dreamers watching and thinking "yes! flying from day 1 finally!" in truth I knew this was only a feature to fill the need to scale the terrain, after all, they STILL want you to experience and appreciate the art from the ground first and I don't think that will ever go away. The deepdive into this feature made it VERY clear that this is not flying, it's moving around through gliding, dive bombs, and limited flight to fill specific needs but flying as we know it is locked behind achieves as it always will be.
I think it's great that we finally might get an intresting option to flying.. making it something more then just a tool to afk fly over content. Since you can clearly still explore and experience the landscape by flying over it. Or isn't that what people say that they want? Or.. do people just want to skip most things and go straight to the specific quest mob/node, whatever?
If it's just part of the starting experience in DI than it's fine, but if it will be permanent than this is a very bad decision.
I really wanted to be so hyped that I'd resub, but this Dragon Riding looks just like another system we will be forced to grind to be able to do world content. What's wrong with the 300+ mounts I already have? I miss Playing dearly, but this will keep me away, to many other options out there now, WoW was always my favorite but at least I can use the mounts I spent money on in new content, in other mmo's.
This is going to be a pretty cool "new, different, fun" way to get around and immerse into the world.... At first.. but it can't successfully replace normal flying and hovering, say.. when you're spending hours farming herbs/ore/ or searching for hard-to spot items where you're hovering as much as changing directions sporadically. I think this is great.. SO LONG AS THEY don't try to replace "normal WoW flying" with this for the full duration of the Xpac.
Is it too much to ask to just let us fly at level cap again?
Dragon Riding sounds cool, but what about my other mounts. Are they all getting the water stride treatment? Have my mounts all regressed to a primitive state, they no longer know how to fly? How long before they can no longer run or walk?
I think at some point they should and will add regular flying. I think this will be fun and letting you fly from the beginning of the expansion is a great boon.
I'm sorry, Blizzard but you don't seem to understand your players. We WANT TO FLY. Stop jerking us about. If you cannot provide content that takes FLYING into account, you maybe should design "match 3 diamonds" games. Zereth Mortis goes a bit into a better direction with angry birds attacking you. WHY THE F*** CAN YOU NOT EXPAND ON THAT? I am already majorly pissed about the fact you downgraded all the heirloom armor (AND MY DREAD PIRATE RING) without giving me a refund for all the gold i spend on it. Now you f*****ing take away the mounts? You must be delirious to think that this will be without repercussions. Also, your UI is dreadful, macro system with 255 char length in 2022 - that is so 8bit of you. Not bothering fixing bugs you have to play around every SINGLE DAY and you cba to fix them ? After 17 years I finally start looking for another game. I kinda have enough of this. Go jerk around the 15 year olds with underdeveloped brains, but not me.
This is a fantastic idea, unlimited flying imo makes the game smaller and less immersive. I just hope they give Demon Hunters the ability to fly without a mount like they're doing for the dragonpeeps
